Ooops, sorry, I didn't mean to finish the thread.

At least you coped with the relatives, MI, and that part sounds better than you anticipated, although Legoland sounds awful. I hope you get home ok and within a short time, traffic jams are the work of the devil. And repeat after me "I am a beautiful person" (says she who has body issues).

Rose, your day sounds lovely. The temperature here is a pleasant 21.

Glad to hear that you managed to chat to DD, Lalsy, it puts your mind at rest.

MrsS, stay away from the poppy seeds: there is a warning in the ST today about the dangers of morphine from them. Grin

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2014 19:57

Well done MI on surviving the dayFlowers

Lalsy, I love Skype - not that I do it, but it enables DD to stay in touch just about daily with my BFF's DD, despite being 200miles awaySmile

I too have been laying on my bed between doing jobs and taxiing, etc. I didn't get enough sleep last night...

hattymattie · 20/07/2014 20:18

Hi greetings from the rainy north. Glad you survived legoland MI.

CointreauVersial · 20/07/2014 20:33

Reporting from the sofa, having survived DD2's party. It actually went rather well; the hall was great, the DJ did a good job keeping them on the dancefloor, and the guests all behaved beautifully. We were co-hosting with DD2's best mate, who has a huge family of aunties and cousins, all of whom mucked in to help. The only issue was the slow oven, but nobody really noticed the late appearance of the hot dogs.

Quite a few of the year didn't show - we were expecting 40-odd but there were fewer than 30. Not a problem for DD2, as her best mates were all there, but I was mildly annoyed about the ones who didn't bother to respond to the invitation, or who made some vague commitment but didn't turn up - am I old-fashioned, or is that a little rude?

Anyway, DD2 just opened all her presents, and has no fewer than nine packs of Loom Bands, so I am expecting to be picking them up off the floor for the next six months.

Stropperella · 20/07/2014 21:02

I thought ds had got tired of Loom Bands, but no. He has now taken up making action figures with them. Hmm

Well done on surviving a very trying day, MI. Hope you are now relaxing at home.

Lovely weather here, but still spent a large chunk of the day inside helping ds do a mega room tidy and chuck-out. I locked the office door and told the dcs there would be no WiFi until certain jobs were done. Amazing how that focused their minds.

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2014 21:13

Stropps, how does he do that? One of my groups loves them and will sit quietly for ages making them, the other group shows no interest whatsoever!
And great tactics on room tidyingWink

Glad the party went well, CVSmile

Blackduck · 20/07/2014 21:42

CV sounds like a fab party! Here beer, wine, salad...

Apparently dp's dancing is the talk of the village town Shock.

He doesn't do dad dancing.....

I am gearing up for Tuesday and the blub fest....

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2014 22:08

Just been watching that Child Genius programmeShockGrin

Get your tissues ready, BD!

beachyhead · 20/07/2014 22:21

Well done MI, you handled that with great aplomb!

We are back and four loads of washing have gone through. I can't believe this heat - the house is just airless and very still.

Obviously, amongst the post holiday washing chaos, dh went off on his new toy to drive in the mud with some other old gimmers!

Holiday was good, but we've all decided, yet again (same as we did post Turkey AI), that we all prefer camping! We are off again to Cornwall this time next week, courtesy of dh's strange holiday bagging system at work, which meant we had to 'frontload' holidays this year.

CV. not sure where you are Cornwalling, but I am there with our mutual friend and her family, plus two other families. We have just booked 'apparently' lunch for 19 next Sunday in a nice pub. God help Cornwall.....

We are all sporting loom bands here Smile.....

CointreauVersial · 20/07/2014 23:25

Beachy, we are staying in St Ives Sat-Sat, but tagging on a couple of nights either end, so in fact we are setting off early doors this Thursday. I don't feel remotely prepared; I have cancelled the papers and the cleaner, but that's about it. What about you?

Stropperella · 20/07/2014 23:27

Glad you had good hols, Beachy. I hope we will feel as positive about camping as you do. Smile

Good luck for the blubfest, BD. Grin

Auriga, in answer to your question from some time ago: Farnham.

CV, I hope your dd was appreciative of your efforts - sounds like a fine party to me and yes, the no-shows were rude.

Stropperella · 20/07/2014 23:30

Ah, and BTM - ds nerdily watches hours of how-to vids on YouTube and then produces Iron Man made of Loom Bands.

Blackduck · 21/07/2014 06:21

Ds has a bedroom floor littered with bloody loom bands (curtesy of various girls who have been on sleepovers) - sodding things bung up the Hoover.
Yes CV no shows tres rude (one of my pet hates).

We leave for london straight after blub fest so I'm all packed.....

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2014 06:56

BD, I am in awe of you being all packed 3 days ahead of schedule!

Blackduck · 21/07/2014 07:21

BTM long day today and working tomorrow so have to be ahead of the curve!!

motherinferior · 21/07/2014 07:50

Don't talk about blubfest. Ours is on Weds.

On the other hand I do not have to go to LEGOLAND Grin (the girls and DP are already planning their next visit Shock)

Auriga · 21/07/2014 08:08

Monty Python brilliant. Funny to see which bits DD likes, she has such an infectious laugh. The dancing teeth creased her up and she came away singing 'Finland, Finland Finland, that's the country for me'. I don't think she'd ever seen the whole parrot sketch, she was quoting it on the bus, just like the lads in my physics form when I was her age Grin. The audience in our wee cinema cheered, applauded and sang along, so she was right at home. And they showed DH's favourite sketch, the philosophers' football match, so we all came home happy.

Blackduck · 21/07/2014 08:16

MI nooooooo...... (but at least you don't have to go again!)

I am tres tired for some reason. And it's a long day!

Philosophers' football match is fab ;)

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 08:40

I am trying to psych myself up for going into work.

The cat shat on the front door mat this morning. I am taking that as an omen that this is not going to be a good week.

I have lost my prescription - was checking side effects on Dr Google last night, and have now lost the prescription.

And I am still cross with DH.

Blackduck · 21/07/2014 08:50

MrsS is it anything particular about this week, or just the on-going rubbish....

What has DH done, or are you still too angry to say........

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 09:08

Mostly the ongoing rubbish.

DH has spent a disproportionate amount of money on something of no benefit to the rest of us, and arguably of minimal benefit to himself.

beachyhead · 21/07/2014 09:10

Must be a trials bike, Mrs S.....

Sorry about car shit. The week can only get better.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 09:23

Cat does not look very happy. She won't play with her squeaky mouse. I think she is hot and bored.

Oh she has just pushed the other one off the Cat Tree, and seems to have perked up a bit (Schadenkatze).

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2014 09:23

Nothing as concrete as a bike, Beachy.

Blackduck · 21/07/2014 09:24

ahh now you have me guessing MrsS!
