ROFL, DH has just emailed me a packing list for our forthcoming hol. It includes 2 dress shirts, amphibian hikers (WTF?) and a photo of your home or familyGrin

BTM, I was in Brighton recently and thought what a perfect destination it would be for mid-teens to do a birthday outing to - lifeguards and other official types around, you even get met off the train by nice ladies with maps, and shedloads of fun to be had in traditional, tooth-rotting sort of way Smile.

And Herbs Angry.

Herbs, that is rotten. Poor little chap. Has it escalated recently, do you think? Are other schools feasible?

We also have Blub-Fest Part 1 tomorrow, with DD2's Leavers' Play followed by BBQ and disco. I'm missing Part 2, the final pick-up of term, because they finish early on Wednesday, and I'm working.

To be honest, DD2 doesn't have much to blub about. All her BFFs are coming with her to secondary, and she admits she's "had enough" of primary school, and can't wait to move up.

I've stopped trying to get things in order at work before I go away, because I've discovered that just about everyone who might have covered for me is going to be on holiday too. Hmm

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2014 06:16

Rudy, we are back-packing round[grin ]

Lalsy, I know Brighton will be fine, it's just what they will get up to. I came down this morning to find the back door wide openShock and blankets/pillows/crisp packets/juice boxes strewn everywhere - I think the 3 of them only made it up to the loft about 5am. Just hope they didn't keep next door/DS awake as their bedrooms overlook the garden. Actually, DS was probably down there too!

NUFC69 · 22/07/2014 07:04

You (they) are only young once, BTM! Seriously, I think they will be fine. (How can they not be with a DM like you?). I do think you have to credit the DC with some commonsense - the problem sometimes comes with their friends.

Herbs, I am appalled about the bullying of DS and can't believe the school aren't taking it seriously.

Having a memory like a sieve, whilst I have read the latest posts I can't remember them Shock so I hope everyone is ok?

I am in bed on phone and contemplating getting up. Dd's 2 children are coming at 8.30 so it's a later start than usual. We're packing a picnic and going to Beamish for the day.

Poor DS has had gastroenteritis since he went on paternity leave and he is back in the office on Wednesday. He has been banished to the spare room so that new baby (who now weighs 5lbs 9) doesn't pick it up.

motherinferior · 22/07/2014 08:08

I have conducted the first Ladyjog in about a week and am sweatily smug.GrinDD2 has gone off for last but one day of primary: she's feeling a bit wobbly, I think, as it is a big move and most but not all of her friends will be with her and primary has been a very lovely, nurturing experience...I'm feeling very wobbly about it too!

DD1 is festering happily in her pit. She has a trip to the pictures while I have a work-related but interesting lunch.

Blackduck · 22/07/2014 08:26

Ds is getting worked up about his last day - like MI this primary has need fab, but he's only had two years of it and I think he wants longer.

Herbs I'd be inclined not to send him to school now, finish early for the summer and try to get it sorted.

Rudy, is he not stepping up re your DM?

Rosebag · 22/07/2014 09:17

Tilly Brighton's such a cool place…they'll have a great time and will step up, responsibility-wise I'm sure. Thinking of some serious shopping there, when I get to Sussex next weekend.
NU Poor DS…what rotten luck.
Good luck to laydeez and kids leaving primary today and tomorrow….don't look back…moving on is positive Smile
Herbs this is awful and the school is negligent. A close friend of mine is place2be qualified. They do a lot of this sort of work with schools and she often despairs of how poor some schools are in this respect. Log on and and have a look good website
S&B alert!! well pleased with M&S swimsuits after years of struggling with Bravissimo straight jackets, trussed up like a turkey. this
this and have spotted a couple of others. Also after trying on …must be 100 pairs of hareems, www.marksandspencer.com/smocked-waist-harem-trousers/p/p22289656 tahdah!
Very Smile despite current fatness.

herbaceous · 22/07/2014 09:29

The difficulty with swimsuits is that most of my 'problem areas' are not within the confines of the suit, so if I 'chose a swimsuit for my shape' (as per numerous magazine articles) I'd be sporting a wetsuit, or even better a bathing machine.

Wrote a letter to the head last night, sent it by email at 10pm, and at 7.30 got a phonecall from the school asking us in for a meeting at 5 today. Rocket, meet arse.

I spoke to one of the midday assistants about it just now, and she said she was very surprised, and was unaware of any problem. She obviously hadn't been told by the teachers. Or, at the other end of the possibility spectrum, there isn't in fact a problem at all Shock. But then why would he consistently complain about it. Even if it's just a difference in perception - the boys think it's just playing, but he finds it too rough - it needs sorting, I guess....

Had washing machine repair man turn up at 7.30 this morning, only to be told there's nothing wrong with it and that will be £66 please.

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2014 10:18

Rose, I agree Place2be does a lot of good work in some of our local schools. Don't know if it is in your area too, Stropps?
Like the trousers (and cozzie!) - was contemplating some like that, but worried that DD would say I was copying her!

Herbs, well done. Someone needs to do a discreet observation of him to see what IS actually happening.

motherinferior · 22/07/2014 10:21

I am sceptical about CB, I have to say. I've worked with enough charismatic would-be messiahs in my time...I also suspect her Love Is All You Need approach masks a lot of tougher work going on behind the scenes. It's the marketing of personality that puts me off.

I think if if was facing such a big farking deal, Rudy, I'd 'overthink' things too. Poor DM.

I don't understand MI's comment about CB. Did I miss a memo?

And yes, indeed. No-one has watched to see exactly what's going on with DS. And no-one has reported back to me what they've done on any of the occasions I've complained about him getting bullied - I have to go in and ask what happened. I don't know what procedure to follow, as the bullying policy isn't on their website, and no-one's replied to my requests for it.

Moving schools is possible - there are a couple of good schools with spaces, I hear through the grapevine. They wouldn't be remotely handy for the rest of life, as not near or en route to stations, etc, but this is a minor consideration. Also, one's CofE, which I'd been avoiding, but one can opt out of most of the God bits if you want.

motherinferior · 22/07/2014 12:28

Camilla B of place2be.

CDiff is making my life miserable about one indent in one par in one feature.

herbaceous · 22/07/2014 12:40

Oh, her with the flowing ethic garb. Didn't know she was behind Place2b.

CDiff needs a kick in the slats.

Too bloody right, Rudy. My gloves are OFF. My righteous She Wolf indignation about DS is reaching fever pitch, I didn't sleep well last night, and too many people have doubted my word/integrity this week - firstly neurotic friend, and secondly washing repair man who wouldn't believe I hadn't received a text from him, or that I'd ever got laundry dry on a short drying cycle.

I am due a Falling Down-style rage.

Blackduck · 22/07/2014 13:07

Herbs ds's school is CofE (most a of them are church schools round here so a tad difficult to avoid) actually his previous non-church primary was actually worse for the whole bible bashing malarkey. Ds is Shinto - so he tells me - and just doesn't joining the worship bits.....

wordassociationfootball · 22/07/2014 13:09

herbs, fwiw, I found CofE really difficult. It was also a school that was going down the pan so it made it easier to move (start of year 2) but I'd been finding the 'message' twisted me up. No offence to anyone who it works for but it's not for me.

herbaceous · 22/07/2014 13:15

I've got lots of friends whose children are there (not through choice), and some of their children do come out with some choice phrases. 'So... God doesn't exist, but Jesus did. But he was just a misunderstood carpenter'.

The nearest two schools to us have waiting lists as long as your arm.

Blackduck · 22/07/2014 13:30

I guess it depends on so much. Ds was older when he moved so had made his own mind up (and I have ultra religious inlaws!). Ds seems to be able to take it or leave it really. It wouldn't have been my first choice, and I deliberately avoided it when choosing his first primary (and is one of the reasons one of the secondaries was ruled out)
I'm about to head off to blubfest which incidentally is held in the church......
