Ooops, sorry, I didn't mean to finish the thread.

OP posts:
herbaceous · 18/07/2014 12:45

Criminy. All stars in the making.

MI and I are on another thread, lone voices in a sea of man-pant-buying lunatics.

motherinferior · 18/07/2014 12:47

Oh Stropps, how utterly fab. Grin

If I bought DP pants he'd look queasy. He gets all huffy and violated by my intrusion into his undergarments, as it were.

motherinferior · 18/07/2014 12:49

Mind you Herbs, how could he resist the Daddy Pig T-shirt?

I did get Mr Inferior a very fabulous bright pink Boden linen collarless shirt a few years back. It was the sort of shirt that looks awful on the usual Boden model, but terrific on a chap who is of Traditional Build in a Bengali sort of way, along with his colouring.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 13:00

BD, loved your DS's performance - what a great voice he has and I particularly loved the way he kept hitching the huge trousers upSmile

Stropps, well done to your DS too - any films of him? How sweet that DD went too.

MI, that kind of shirt would look sooooo ridiculous on DHGrin

Tiler is in the kitchen today...

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2014 13:24

Fabulous voice, BD! Will we be seeing him on X Factor in a few years?

DD1 has just finished her play at the Kingston International Youth Arts Festival. They had a blast, and are all sorry that it has finished.

DD2's report was excellent, apart from PE, where she got a very grudging C, and the comment that "despite winning the hurdles and coming third in the javelin at sports day, DD2 has put in no effort all term." DD1's report was all over the show as usual, with grades varying from A to F in science and maths, which meant she ended up with a C overall in these subjects.

NUFC69 · 18/07/2014 13:35

Very impressed with the singing.

If I didn't buy DH some clothes occasionally he probably wouldn't have anything to wear (apart, that is, from jackets which he buys all the time). He never buys clothing because he wants it, but only if he needs it, if you see what I mean.

Just picked the first sweetpeas of the season and the hall smells lovely.

Blackduck · 18/07/2014 14:06

Thanks all - the singing (and indeed musical talent) is all dp's side of the family - my lot are tone deaf and can't keep rhythm Grin

BTM - yes the trouser thing made us chuckle too

Lots of people praised him last night and he does enjoy it (keeps wanting to join our choir - we have told him it's adults only)

Stropps - good on ds!

herbaceous · 18/07/2014 14:09

I was under strict instructions by DS not to laugh, clap or otherwise show any signs of enjoyment last night. But I couldn't help myself, and he really seemed to lap it up when he got a laugh, and gave me some beaming smiles from the 'stage'.

I've started a thread on our local parents' Facebook group about the bullying, and there's been a huge and sympathetic response. People really are lovely aren't they.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 14:09

Re DH/DP's clothes, does yours wear the same old stuff for years? DH still wears a shirt that we bought together over 18 years ago!

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 14:10

Herbs, that's very heartening re FBSmile

herbaceous · 18/07/2014 14:20

He pretty much wears the same things - black v-neck jumpers; black, blue or white t-shirts; plain white or blue shirts for work, or fancy floral or check for casual; indigo jeans; trainers. When any of these items show any signs of wear they get sent to the charity shop and he replaces them, mainly from Gap, Carhartt or Adidas.

He's got about 500 lightweight dark blue or black jackets, but always returns to one old faithful he's had for about 20 years.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2014 14:32

BTM - we were looking at some photos the other day of when I worked in Israel in 1997. DH was wearing the same chinos and polo shirt that he was wearing in the photos. It caused great hilarity.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 14:37

Yes, we have many photos like that! TBF, I have some clothes that are pretty old, but I have loads of clothes so none of them get worn that much. Whereas DH...

wordassociationfootball · 18/07/2014 14:58

Great vid BD. What a sweetheart. I love all those played close to the body hand gestures. For anyone who hasn't watched yet, also watch the sheep and friend to the left of Sinderella, v cute.

wordassociationfootball · 18/07/2014 14:58

Imagine being pregnant in this heat...

herbaceous · 18/07/2014 15:01

I was, WAF, five years ago! 41 weeks, and it was like this. The sum total of my activity each day was to stagger to the corner shop for a Magnum, then back to the settee.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 15:04

Yes, me too, 15 years agoGrin

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 15:06

But I was only 40 weeks pregnant!

motherinferior · 18/07/2014 15:12

I had DD2 in the summer of 2003. By this point 11 years ago we were cowering indoors, pathetically, while DD1 gazed goggle-eyed at CBeebies. So much for my fantasies of sitting in the garden with a beer.

I am really bad at small babies.Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 15:30

MI, I loved being pregnant and mine being small babies - that was by far the easiest bit for meGrin

motherinferior · 18/07/2014 16:20

I was really crap at being pregnant too. Grin

It's the 'summer of love' themed school barbecue tonight.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2014 16:56

Ooh, have fun MIWink

Quiet night in here. Beer and fajitas in the garden I think.

Tiler seems to have got about halfway through the job.

Rosebag · 18/07/2014 16:56

Awwwww BD your DS is lovely and I must say I've coached professionals who aren't as well tuned or well supported vocally as him Smile

Just had FaceTime call from DS from Eilat ! All good, no sirens so far.

Must get changed to go and see DDs show now. She doesn't get parts but is in a lot of scenes. Ours is inclusive theatre so the company is huge, able and disabled all performing together.

Laters xx

CointreauVersial · 18/07/2014 17:54

Ooh, lots to catch up on.

Phew, wot a scorcher! The thermometer in the bedroom read 32 degrees when I got in from work this afternoon (chalet bungalow - all the heat gets trapped upstairs). I was another one with a summer 2003 baby; I didn't leave the house for the whole of August that year. But hey, don't complain, crepeys - I expect the weather to break on, ooh, next Thursday, as we arrive in Cornwall.

DD2 and the rest of Y6 were allowed a water fight at break time at school, with half the teachers joining in, buoyed up by a very good Ofsted report which just came out. I'm very happy for them.

Lalsy - I have been on a plane struck by lightning, just coming into land at Liverpool. It made a huge bang, but the stewardess was completely unconcerned. The plane is a Faraday Cage, for the scientific amongst us. The worst flight was probably Dan Air (remember them?).

I haven't looked at the man pant thread, but it sounds most entertaining. DH is fairly good at updating his wardrobe with the exception of pants - several pairs predate me, I believe, and you could easily read the newspaper through a couple of them.

BD - I have the turquoise dress. I think Rudy does too.

Rose - good to hear DS is well away from the trouble. Poor you waking in a lather during the storm. I was still up when it all started, so predictably lay awake listening to it. I also heard rustling from the corner of the room, and suspect it was the pitter patter of tiny mouse feet. Angry

Auriga · 18/07/2014 17:57

What a handsome lad, BD, and a great singer. Looks like a fun production. Well done to Stropps's two, as well: good to hear your DD finished the year on a high.

Look forward to the showing of miniHerbs's triumph on 25th. May bring one of DD's Grin. Do they do popcorn at the cocktail place?
