Oh Stropps , I've just caught up and I'm so bloody pleased for you. Well done!
ThanksWineThanksWine

Rose - men are always putting in for (and doing) jobs where they only meet half the essential criteria.

I have painted half the bed heads - now have to wait for paint to dry so I can turn them round and do the other sides. I am doing this in the garden so it's quite pleasant as long as we don't get a sudden storm!

DD2 is lying around doing BOG ALL, which is fine by me as frankly she must be clobbered. DD2 went off to her drama stuff at the local theatre (it's the free bronze arts award stuff she's doing), huffing and eyerolling about the fact she had to MAKE HER OWN LUNCH (she makes her own lunch most days) and NOBODY HELPS HER AND THEY ALWAYS HELP NAOMI (they don't). I helpfully put leftover salade nicoise in a container for her. She huffed and looked disgusted. I smiled passive-aggressively and handed it to her.

It is nice salade nicoise. I even removed the olives and added some extra tuna for her because I am so caring. Wink

motherinferior · 24/07/2014 11:21

That should read DD1 went off...

wordassociationfootball · 24/07/2014 11:56

My two are watching Modern Family box set. My iron boost energy disappeared about ten days ago and I am back to shatteredness and having to go back to bed in the morning, so only started work after ten. The TV is going to melt at some point...

BD - Visit the big walrus at the Horninman that is forever known to us, courtesy of toddler dd1 as 'the brown mingo.'

motherinferior · 24/07/2014 12:15

And look up its bottom.

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 12:47

It was on holiday in Margate when we went last summer! In the art gallery that is going to gentrify the areaWink

I am in JL with DS who is scoffing an enormous Millionaires shortbread, having just spent a small fortune in Primarni!

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 12:52

No word from DD - must be fine or she would have been screaming down the phone at me, as she was this morning when I expressed surprise that they had gone to buy a load of food/drink from the Coop rather than waiting till they got to BrightonHmm

motherinferior · 24/07/2014 13:29

First World Problem alert: my lovely oyster bra has gone grey in the wash Sad

wordassociationfootball · 24/07/2014 13:50

BTM - annoying. Maybe she was ranty as stressed about the journey. So annoying when they get arsey when you are a) shelling out a lot and b) on the end of your nerves vis the tautness the situation puts on the lengthening apron strings.

DD2 is hunched on my bed watching Barely Legal Drivers. DD1 is.... not emptying the dishwasher, at a guess. Once I've cleared my desk we're off to see my mum and take her to Morrisons. This will be fun and the girls want to see her much more now she's so cheerful. I'm taking her a list of 'building your balance' exercises as (forgive me if I've mentioned this but) recently she changed antidepressant to mirtazapine and is now full of the joys in her head - even walked up to high street and took herself for a pub lunch the other day - but her body is still that of a miserable, shuffling 84 year old and she's had several falls. She is v lazy (I take after her) and I am grinning at the idea of trying to get her using resistance band and light dumbbells. I predict a lot of laughter... or a broken toe. Smile

Seems like a good idea to get there earlier rather than later tomorrow to jump on the woo-woo bus (although have looked at menu and fancy a strawberry colada myself)

Rosebag · 24/07/2014 14:15

To crepeys with kids/ teens doing very little and watching rubbish TV etc....I would let them for a bit. It's just the beginning of the hols after all. Herbs that sounds like a lovely plan for DS. Do you think he would like being part of a theatre which does a lot of work on bullying ( and all sorts of other stuff if course? ) DD is nearing the end of a project on that same theme working with a dancer and a poet. The presentation is tomorrow. She's loving it and has been the victim at times owing to her SEN. PM me if you'd like to know more.
Hatty do men ever give more than half the sandwich? Grin
Tilly at least your Ds has agreed to go shopping with you. Mine just leaves a page of the Next Directory open on the kitchen table and grunts...

Am wasting time on way back from meeting, having lunch out etc...I have managed to volunteer myself for a working party, to run a study day and lord knows what else. How? Hmm

And can I just say that a nice thing happened yesterday...DD has been asked to perform in a vocal group at the Guildhall in the autumn. It's our theatres annual fundraising gala, and Ds has been doing it for ages but DD has never been chosen. The letter popped in to my inbox yesterday inviting her to rehearsals. She's ecstatic, dancing around the house. DS is going to be a bit Hmm Angry I imagine!!!!

motherinferior · 24/07/2014 14:26

I am never drinking again.

BTM, my lovely friend has just caused six grands' worth of damage to their car by the simple act of filling up with petrol rather than diesel. The fatal mistake was in then driving home rather than panicking and getting help asap...

hattymattie · 24/07/2014 14:30

MI - my DF did this but realised at the pump. The essential is to not drive it. It was pushed out of the way and he waited at the petrol station for a guy who pumped out all the diesel. It cost £140 but better than what your friend paid.

It is boiling so cannot face more painting until about 5 pm - perhaps with a glass of roséSmile.

Blackduck · 24/07/2014 14:32

MI - ouch!!! Had a friend who did that, but car died very quickly and it only cost him a couple of hundred to put right....

Blackduck · 24/07/2014 14:35

So a burqa then Rudy?!

hattymattie · 24/07/2014 14:38

I think my bedroom is a little too green. It was supposed to be a light warm green - Farrow's green ground. I think the room is too small so rather overpowering. Still I'll have to live with it for a while. In love the colours a of the DC's rooms - especially DD2 which is Laura Ashley camomile - it is gorgeous. I think my problem is I'm no good at grown up colours.

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 14:39

WAF she was stressed about the journey as she is crap with trains! All seems OK as DS called her mate to check her shoe size and there were no probs!
DS is a charming shopping companion today, probs due to the money I spent on him and me now queueing in Subway for his foot long doodah!

WAF glad to hear your DM is on the mend and that you are on the cocktail bus!

MI I once put some diesel in our old car but nothing ever happened!

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 14:41

Well done Roses DD and you need a hair of the dog MI. TomorrowWink

motherinferior · 24/07/2014 14:46

Friend's DH (a lovely bloke) is Not Speaking to her.

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 15:26

Understandable, I guess.

On our way home - DS is very pleased with all his new clothes! He also persuaded me to go halfers with him on a pair of Converse for DD for her birthday on Sat...
