Ooops, sorry, I didn't mean to finish the thread.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 23/07/2014 20:00

It's the OCR level 5 course in SpLD, i.e. a specialist qualification for teachers of dyslexics. I have a whole bunch of networking I now need to do to see if I can get some work in the field, but I already have 2 voluntary things sorted and have lots of contacts lined up. I am so excited can hardly breathe. Which is probably a good sign. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2014 20:03

I think that's the one I did! If you need any help, I can dig out my stuffGrin

Stropperella · 23/07/2014 20:10

That would be great, BTM. They told me they never accept the first draft of an assignment. Smile I now have a list of people to contact to try and get various work balls rolling, as it were.
Even dd looks mildly pleased.. And is making scones to celebrate

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2014 20:15

The course is a pedants delight, so you'll be fine! I did pretty well on the old assignment frontWink

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2014 20:19

Yes, it's deffo the one I did - just found an email from the cow woman who was my tutor!

Stropperella · 23/07/2014 20:19

I get in to Waterloo at 17:50 on Friday and will be coming straight to the Cubana - somebody get the Woo-woos in Grin Grin Grin Grin

Stropperella · 23/07/2014 20:20

When did you do the course, BTM?

Stropperella · 23/07/2014 20:22

(trigger-happy with the old emoticons this evening - I can't help myself, people)

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2014 20:22

The email says 2008Shock Where did that time go?!

We'd better go straight there then, when you arrive, Rudy?

Not sure when I can get there - as ever, depends on DP's return to the homestead. But be assured I won't be as late as last time!

Any dress code? Metallic skirt? Brogues? Boden dress?

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2014 20:35

OK, Cubana from 5 (when Happy Hour startsWink) be there or ... get there as soon as you can!

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2014 20:35

Surprise us, Herbs!Wink

NUFC69 · 23/07/2014 20:37

Things have moved on quickly!

Well done, Stropps, that is fantastic news - everyone knew that you could do it. A lot of hard work, but it will be worth it in the end.

A fall back plan for Ds sounds like a plan, Herbs; his welfare has to be your first concern.

Commiserations to all people feeling sad because DC are finishing their particular school.

We're off first thing tomorrow morning - DSis has warned me that it's very warm in the Midlands, it's the Cotswolds on Saturday and then back home after lunch on Sunday. I hope that you have a lovely MU - have a drink for me.

beachyhead · 23/07/2014 22:39

Well done you, Stropps.... Perfecto!
I really hope you can see how far you've come (because we all can).

And sad for you Herbs. I'm sure he was fantastic...

The heat is still blinding here. Sitting outside with a glass of vino, contemplating counting tiles to see how many more we need. We are tiling from all the spares we strangely hoard in our garage. There are some tiles that will grace our utility room that adorned our first house in Putney, which we bought in 1999....Smile

One of my ex colleagues (who was shafted in the latest blood letting round) is coming to visit tomorrow. Along with one of dd1's teachers, who is an old friend. Funny old day!

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/07/2014 22:49

Yay Stropps! A WooWoo is definitely called for. As everyone else seems to be off for Eid I should be able to get away early.

Rudy, get the 59 bus from Kings X (on the other side of the main road) and get off at Waterloo (or the stop after is probably a bit closer - Lower Marsh). You get a wonderful view from Waterloo bridge.

addle · 23/07/2014 22:55

Fantastic Stropps! v good news. sorry I can't be there with you all on Fri., hv fabulous time x

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/07/2014 23:06

Oh no, Addle! We won't be wobbling home together as usual?

Go Stropps!!!

I am feeling slightly delicate after last night.Winkall v emotional....

Blackduck · 24/07/2014 08:20

I should be able to make it early(ish). Doing the Horniman tomorrow.
I am being actively encouraged to put in an application for a job where I don't meet half the essential criteria Hmm. So that's today's job (in between the V&A)

Stropps so so very pleased for you :)

Rosebag · 24/07/2014 08:45

Quick check in to say congratulations to stropps Great stuff!
Going to town for a 4 hour development meeting (yawn). Laters

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 09:01

BD, if you are coming straight from the Horniman, we could hook up on the bus as it passes by my house!

Sounds like DD is in the shower, preparing for the big trip to Brighton. Much angst last night as I tried to explain the 3 trains/2 changes needed to get there. DS looked on bemused as he is now a pro on the trains! DD is not. So fingers crossed!

I am taking DS to Westfield later to buy him new clothes as he has grown out of all his old ones (passed onto very grateful friend!) and to treat him to lunch as well as my free JL cake!

herbaceous · 24/07/2014 09:43

Stratford Westfield, BTM? Big up da hood.

First day of hols here, and neither of us are dressed. Off to meet a friend at local playground, complete with pavement fountains, soon. Many changes of clothes shall be taken!

I'm going to try to spend the holiday with lots of his 'real' friends, affirming what real friends are about, how he should feel with them, and that he's loved and doesn't have to put up with any crap. Though naturally, last-day-of-term loved-up syndrome has meant he now loves all 'the boys' at school, after all.

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2014 10:09

Yep!

That's a good plan, Herbs. Which school do all his mates go to? Could you possibly get him moved there if necessary?
