It's ano from me on the bag too. You'll get better.
Shame about the Zara bag. I never thought it'd be weighty. Must be the chain.

CardiCorgi · 15/07/2014 08:27

I read the Deluxe book too and it put me right off the idea of most designer labels (apart from Hermes which I can't afford). I do wish that the editor had picked up on a couple of glaring errors though, and is it me, or did the author come over a a bit of a snob?
Anyway, I have enough crap in my handbag without weighing it down with more chains and padlocks.

During a rare lunchtime trip into town yesterday I noticed that some new autumn stock was being put out in Massimo Dutti, lots of orange and teal if that appeals to anyone.

Today wearing blardi and wrap dress.

Anyone have smaller sized feet and looking for a pretty mint slingback on sale? www.marksandspencer.com/leather-pointed-toe-slingback-court-shoes/p/p22316120?mfPartNumber=T024053&carousel=FUNH_RR

Lovely shoes Belinda but £175 original price!!! No way M&S Shock

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/07/2014 20:36

M&S got a little crazy with their pricing, didn't they?!

CardiCorgi - I have been Pinning away the new stock (I need to, especially for the capsule post which is taking ages as the old stock is largely sold out, and, so, I need to look through the new arrivals) and am really liking some of the Massimo Dutti stock. They do winter better than summer, IMO. They have a nice looking camel coat, a lovely burgundy ("garnet") shirt and an orange blazer.

Croc leather is popping up in a few places, so looks to be a leather trend for this coming autumn/winter [fist pumps as I love croc].

Bearleigh · 15/07/2014 21:05

Ooh thanks for that Belinda. I have ordered a pair of size 4. They look as though they are beautifully made. I love green and they are very pretty.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/07/2014 21:20

That's fantastic - I hope they work out for you!

Brillenbar · 15/07/2014 21:28

I wore my blardi today :)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/07/2014 21:39

Blardi on, ladies!

MumbleBag · 15/07/2014 22:01

Only just found this great thread! Lots to look back over but loving the sound of a blardi. Any good links to help my search for one?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/07/2014 22:28

mumble, hi! This Jigsaw one is perfect, but it's £170, let me see if I can find more and I will be back later www.jigsaw-online.com/products/cotton-stretch-jacket-8188

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/07/2014 22:29

There's also this Mango textured kimono, but it's not a blardi, is it? shop.mango.com/GB/p0/women/new-collection/textured-kimono/?id=33050242_02&n=1&s=nuevo&ident=0__0_1405458715042&ts=1405458715042

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/07/2014 22:37

The one that I have (and Brillenbar, too?) is in the photos for these www.zara.com/uk/en/sale/woman/stock-clearance/collection/coated-skinny-trousers-c555514p1794510.html

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 10:49

Oh, and for those of us with larger feet, aren't these beautiful?! www.jonesbootmaker.com/ladies/heeled-shoes/peter-kaiser-heeled-shoes-formal-slip-on-2610248041

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 11:01

The black and white version remind me of Audrey Hepburn at the races in My Fair Lady, but only size 7 is left: www.jonesbootmaker.com/ladies/heeled-shoes/peter-kaiser-heeled-shoes-formal-slip-on-2610248002

thepurplepenguin · 16/07/2014 13:34

So the Mango draped jersey dress arrived and is lovely in principle. However the armholes are MASSIVE and my bra is on show for the whole world to see (and possibly my chest if you got me at the wrong angle) so it's a big fat no. I also had the same yesterday with a Phase Eight dress. I must have odd proportions!

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to accessorise a mid navy suit? I tried on the NW3 Kate skirt suit yesterday in Hobbs and it is an absolutely perfect fit on me (the only one I've found so far) but I hadn't really considered navy so I'm a bit baffled as to what I would put it with. I found some nice navy suede court shoes in Clarks but apparently navy on navy is not good??!!! What about bag colour, top colour? I need help!

I'm off to Westfield tomorrow so hoping to hit Banana Republic and Uniqlo etc.

This is the suit

Stokey · 16/07/2014 14:13

Nice suit.

Nude or cream shoes?

There's an article in The Stylist today about cobalt and pumpkin. I have these Dune snakeskin ones which I often wear with navy trousers & an orange bag. I also have some orange heels which I wear with a blue dress and probably tan/grey bag.

MumbleBag · 16/07/2014 19:48

Love that Hobbs suit purplepenguin

Thanks for the blardi links belinda. The Jaegar one is perfect but my bank balance doesn't agree! Might try the Mango kimono and see what that's like. Thanks!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 19:59

I like navy with more navy (I would wear shoes a shade darker than the suit), or (even better) with yellow, orange, white or cream. Nude shoes are a good idea. A dark tan bag would work well with it, too, I think.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 20:01

To be really picky, I would look at taupe (yellow based) nude rather than pinky nude shoes.

Bearleigh · 16/07/2014 20:27

I also like navy with more navy (Jean Muir wore head to toe navy every day IIRC). I also like it with shades of yellow, tan, warm beige and orange, and think a cream silk blouse looks amazingly chic. May be worth looking at the Uniqlo silk T shirt. I wear scarves with navy more often than with black. It must be easier to find nice navy scarves.

I popped into &Other Stories today. The silk and quality of manufacture of the African shirt in particular were amazing for the money and I loved the fit and the colours. I love the print too, but it's just too big. I'm 5'4" and it drowned me. Sob... They do seem to have improved their styles and quality since they opened.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 20:41

I agree about the quality of & Other Stories, and I also loved the African shirt - stunning, and easier to wear than the dress, which is the piece I first noticed. I'm 5' 4", too - is the shirt too long? How annoying.

Re blardis, I had a thought - how about if you just rip out the lining of a blazer, which then makes it more cardi like? I'm assuming you could get a snugger fit and feel without lining, which rarely has any stretch? Say, this one: shop.mango.com/ficha.faces?utm_medium=retargeting&utm_source=criteo&utm_campaign=campaign_uk&state=she_006_IN

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 20:42

Or the cream version, which I keep meaning to try shop.mango.com/ficha.faces?utm_medium=retargeting&utm_source=criteo&utm_campaign=campaign_uk&state=she_006_IN. These are the oddest looking links.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/07/2014 21:59

Has anyone been able to use the & Other Stories website? I got an email saying they cancelled my phone placed order due to payment failure - bank account is fine, so am assuming & Other Stories took down my details incorrectly. I've tried to do online order again, except the shopping cart screen is blank. Have tried ipad, laptop and even DH's PC. No dice. So I'll have to place an order by phone, again.

To add to my woes, the cream blouse I originally ordered is now sold out Angry
