Does the new Boden catalogue make anyone else want to kill themselves?

It's my own fault for getting it I know. But I doubt I'll ever be able to afford anything from it, all the lovely skirts and shirts and sweaters and winter coats. And all the lovely buffed facialed skin and styled hair.

the toast look - greasy plaits and a diet of potatoes.

monkeytrousers · 06/09/2006 12:55

I get the catalogue and thought that the clothes looked abit rough actually.

Hallo MT

Fimbo · 06/09/2006 12:59

Some of the Toast clothes would look at home on the set of Oliver Twist.

Fimbo · 06/09/2006 13:00

I tried to get on the Hobbs website yesterday but its under reconstruction -boo hoo!

theshrimp · 06/09/2006 13:01

Cupcakes-you are so right. if i wanted to look like a 19th century Polish potato picker, I would buy my clothes from Toast.

Think Boden's new woman's collection is very disappointing. Like childrens clothes but also hate braying middle class types who often where them. They set my teeth on edge.

theshrimp · 06/09/2006 13:02

"Wear" not "Where" Doh!

cupcakes · 06/09/2006 13:02

What do you think will be nicest for dd:
duffle coat in green with pink lining
or
cord duffle in brown

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2006 13:03

The daft model poses and the silly text makes me larf, but I like the stuff, especially for the boys - it's brighter, more interesting and better quality than other stuff. It is quite expensive but I have 3 boys so it works for me because it lasts well enough to hand down.

I've bought the odd thing for me. A lot of the women's stuff I wouldn't touch with a bargepole but some of it's nice.

Dh wouldn't be seen dead in the men's stuff.

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2006 13:04

I like them both but prefer the green one with pink lining - it's a bit different and I like bright colours for the winter months.

cupcakes · 06/09/2006 13:04

ditto dh - he laughs uproariously if I even try to glance in the menswear section.

Fimbo · 06/09/2006 13:04

The brown one, just had a look at the first one in the catalogue and I don't like the look of it tbh.

cupcakes · 06/09/2006 13:05

I love the colour too - but it's dry clean only and the brown one is machine washable. And cheaper.

cupcakes · 06/09/2006 13:06

fimbo - is it the colour or the style you don't like?

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2006 13:07

Malory - i totally agree about that Boden skirt. It is lovely but I have one almost identical from Tesco!!

oliveoil · 06/09/2006 13:07

I do look like the Boden model (albeit with frizzy hair)....

I get my stuff from Gap, H&M, or Asda, although Gap is by far the best stuff. Dd1 wears it, then it is handed down to dd2 and then passed to a charity shop (in fact it is currently in a big bin bag in my wardrobe).

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2006 13:07

Oh I didn't look at it that closely!! I'd go for the brown with blue spots then - deffo swayed by price and washability!!

monkeytrousers · 06/09/2006 13:08

Hi Paps. How are your babies?

MT, what's hopsack?
