Here we are crepeys - Friday 13th!

Ha Cremo, not an Aga - imagine that in London! Just a gas range cooker!
Online shop looks lovely. I wonder where Her Maj will put the cushions?!

Lovely dinner AurigaEnvy DH would NEVER manage that. And the lovely stories! DM would never remember any stories about my birth/childhood to retell - that is a forgotten land.

Stropps, I was just thinking about your DD last night! I guess they do need a period of doing nothing after all that stress, but I know I'll have to zip my lips and sit on my hands when that time comes! DD is supposed to be preparing for 101 CA's/ISA's ATM, but seems to be doing a lot of socialising insteadHmm

Builder uncovered a bit of creative covering of pipes by previous builder, so is getting all his tradesmen round to decide next step! Meanwhile all the bathroom lights went last night (not the bulbs, we tried replacing!), but the fan is still running OKConfused

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2014 07:15

Oh, and I thought the same on first read, AddleGrin

Auriga · 25/06/2014 07:21

Jaffa MrsS. Great place to have on birth cert unless you want/need to visit an Arab country Hmm

NUFC69 · 25/06/2014 07:41

Lovely morning here, but unfortunately I will be spending most of it in a meeting of my charity. Sad

No news overnight from DS so hopefully baby has decided not to arrive today (mind you he might be so busy that he hasn't had time).

Well done to Auriga's DH on pulling out the stops. You're so lucky having your DM around and still able to reminisce. Jaffa - very exotic.

I hope all goes well with the builder, BTM.

And fantastic news about the dentist, OPM. Small baby steps all the time.

beachyhead · 25/06/2014 08:48

That's really good news Pirate. Happy birthday Auriga and glad he pulled out all the stops in the end.

I have had a shocking week. A cull at work of three of my peers, my real 'go to' people, in a very horrible manner. Then yesterday ddog had to be put down. We are all shell shocked.

I won't come on Friday, sorry. I've been up and down on this train three times this week, clocking up over 10 hours so far. Plus I would be morose and drink too much. I need a consolidating weekend at home. Sorry.

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2014 09:34

Oh Beachy, sorry to hear your sad news. I still remember how horrid it was when my childhood doggie had to be put down over 30 years agoSad

herbaceous · 25/06/2014 09:45

Bloody hell, Beachy. That really is a horrible week. Your poor doggy. Sad And poor you. Sad Sounds like you need to hole up and howl.

motherinferior · 25/06/2014 09:47

Beachy, how awful. I'm so sorry.

Blackduck · 25/06/2014 10:26

Beachy :( for both the work colleagues and DDog.

Yes, a restorative weekend at home chez family would be good. {{ }}

Stropperella · 25/06/2014 11:06

Oh no, Beachy, I'm really sorry to hear that. So sad about your poor dog. And grim about the work colleagues. :(

hattymattie · 25/06/2014 12:05

Beachy - so sorry for the poor dog and work colleagues - sounds the atmosphere at work is going to be a bit tense.Sad

wordassociationfootball · 25/06/2014 12:40

Beachy that's rubbish on both counts, hole up and howl indeed.

Want to report I am still on for Friday and also that I had a dream....

Here is the dream...
Mrs S and me and some others in a classroom in my old primary school. Mrs S being offered a job in India and considering it.

NUFC69 · 25/06/2014 12:45

So sorry, Beachy, my heart felt condolences about DDog, and rubbish about your work colleagues, too.

DDil has been in hospital again with pains but they settled down and she has been sent home again. This could go on for over a week, I think. So sorry for them all.

motherinferior · 25/06/2014 12:54

How far along is she now, NU? It's just a bit early to induce/C-section, isn't it...

hattymattie · 25/06/2014 13:18

NU - a very anxious time, I also remember thinking at this stage that I just wanted the baby out. Strength to your DD.

WAF - maybe the India dream is a premonition for Mrs SWink

Wheat-free news: the rosacea that's been a problem for a couple of years has disappeared! I could become tediously evangelical at this rate.

DS's sports day tomorrow, 9.30 til 12. Then we can take them home after 2. So, if I were a proper mother I could drop him off at school at 8.45, go home, go back for 9.30, come home at 12, pick him up at 2, then come home. What a faff.

What I will do - drop him off, get coffee somewhere, watch a couple of races, come home until 3.30.

No doubt this is the first example of assuming we have nothing better to do than shuttle between home and school.

Thoughts are turning to his school birthday stuff. It seems to be traditional to bring in not only a cake, but party bags for 30 children. Complete with halal sweets. No idea which ones are halal. I'm wondering about a box of Smarties each...

NUFC69 · 25/06/2014 13:49

She is not far along at all; DS says she is having contractions but describes them as tightening. She is 34 weeks today, at the weekend the impression I got was that they would only let her go until a week this Friday, assuming she got that far. I think she has pains of varying degrees, they think baby is on the way, go to hospital, stay a while, pains go and she is sent home. Awful for everyone. Sad

Blackduck · 25/06/2014 13:54

Herbs - don't mention party bags - tthey make me seethe (and stress), luckily ds is too old for such things now....

And I never did sweets for the whole class, it's all too over the top! (halal - go in a big supermarket and they are usually labelled up - Haribo do loads).

WAF - so MrsS - job in India ;)

NU - hope it resolves itself in a good way for all concerned.

herbaceous · 25/06/2014 14:09

I agree that party bags are utterly ridiculous, but DS has been given one by every classmate who's had a birthday, so it would seem churlish not to return the 'favour'.

I'm thinking that for his actual party at home, things they 'win' during the party can go into a little bucket, and that can be the 'party bag'.

Stropperella · 25/06/2014 14:58

No indications in any of our local supermarkets about which sweeties are halal. In fairness, there is not exactly a great demand for them round these parts at the moment.

I just send ds in with either 30 boxes of Smarties or a bag of lollies or similar. Am pretty sure that anyone who actually sent in 30 party bags would be lynched. When dd started school, nobody even did the sweets. It appears to have become a thing over the last decade. I think it is about to get banned at ds's school because many right-on parents have complained about the school preaching healthy eating on the one hand and then giving out sweeties with the other. I smirked when I read this in the newsletter because I remembered thinking these kinds of thoughts back in the day when I was all pfb with toddler dd and first went to a toddler group where they gave out biscuits. Oh the horror. I hadn't let her have any up until then - not difficult as I'm not a biscuit-eater and never had any in the house in those days. It all changed rather swiftly, as I recall. Grin

herbaceous · 25/06/2014 15:05

The party bags have, for a relatively poor area, been very generous. Little toys, sweets, all sorts. For 30 children. All a bit mad.

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2014 15:07

Herbs, my Dcuz is evangelical about giving up wheat! Mainly feeling better and losing a load of weight.

No experience of buying halal sweets - DC went to a C of E primary! However, I do think lots of parents see sending sweets/cake in as being a party - they do that, but don't also have a party at home for the child, other than close family. I have lots of memories of cutting up very creamy cakes for the whole class....
And yes, the sports day comings and goings were a pain.

WAF, I think you were mixing MI and MrsS together in your dream. However, given MrsS's job, it is entirely possible that she could work in India!

Stropperella · 25/06/2014 15:19

I only eat wheat once a day at the most, as if I have more than that there are unfortunate side effects. I probably shouldn't eat pasta at all because it always makes me feel a bit bleargh and often makes my face go red. I was completely wheat and dairy-free for a couple of years, but the positives did not really outweigh the negatives, so I opted for a happyish medium instead.

herbaceous · 25/06/2014 15:26

Since I've gone wheat free ish (certain tasty cakes and biscuits still allowed as a treat) a number of people have remarked how well I'm looking, have I lost weight, etc. I haven't lost much weight - couple of pounds - but am less puffed up.

I have occasional dreams about crepeys. I seem to recall in one, QQ and I were having some kind of lesbian affair. Of a non-rude nature.

herbaceous · 25/06/2014 15:28

Before QQ runs away screaming, I should say I have those sort of non-rude affair dreams involving all sorts of people. Angus Deayton, for example, or a neighbour.
