I keep wandering and admiring DD2's new bed, Auriga.

NUFC69 · 23/06/2014 18:59

Stropps, I personally will feel very upset if you don't at least get an interview. You were definitely being encouraged to apply, I feel. We're not allowed to keep chickens here (part of the Rules - and I don't think we can keep pigs, either). We are being plagued by magpies atm - enormous flocks of the wretched things around and they are still going after the odd baby bird which really annoys me as my ageing cat generally ignores the birds.

We're both knackered again after having had DGD1 this morning whilst her dad went to work - bless her she is not used to being round here by herself and kept on asking where daddy was. She is a very different kettle of fish to DGS and gets into any bit of mischief that she can find.

motherinferior · 23/06/2014 19:02

I'm going to go and produce fish curry (my attempt at providing culinary Variety).

hattymattie · 23/06/2014 19:24

MI- do the Jamie Oliver curry - my DD's love it and can even make it themselves - so now if they fancy a curry I tell them to make it.

I thought you were getting slate BTM -you're taking up slate for oak? I've had Wine so confused. Either would make me very happy - I have horrible tiles from the 1970's.

I think think all our cash will be paying for uni fees next year. Have had big talk with DD1 on the advantages of her backup choice uni - ever the optimist.

hattymattie · 23/06/2014 19:29

Herbs - we have the eternally leaking shower - we have had it replaced twice I am in despair -sometimes I want to just move house to get a different sodding shower.

Oooh new kitchens, lovely. We had ours done a couple of years ago. Very good to do it in summer when chips in the park is possible.

Yay, Stropps, well done. Yes, it will.

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2014 19:45

Stropps, must have missed your post somehow! Got everything crossed for you.

Hatty, it was half slate half crap laminate. Under which half concrete, half floorboards! Now it will be all Karndean which I am hoping will look miles better!

And yes, I wanted it done in the summer - much easier with BBQ. And chips in the park! And we are away this weekend which should help!

motherinferior · 23/06/2014 20:01

I did my mum's fish curry.GrinProper saaaf Indian it is. Grin

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2014 20:02

Sounds divine MIEnvy

QueenQueenie · 23/06/2014 21:12

Gis the recipe then MI... sounds gooooood.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 23/06/2014 21:17

Right, I have booked the restaurant for 1830 on Friday and told them we want cocktails first. Grin

Fingers crossed and holding thumbs for you getting an interview Stropps. And your living conditions can't be as bad as ours. Our kitchen was put in in 1987, and "some of it" has been removed, some of the tiles destroyed putting in a new boiler, and the rest of the flat is "I'll do it later" DIY. There is a pile of junk destined for the tip inside the front door, but as the car is off the road it seems destined to stay there forever. Oh yes, we also have damp in our built in cupboards and quite a lot of my clothes have been ruined.

Those of you who are friends with me on FB will have seen that conditions have been enhanced by the arrival of a life size cardboard cow. Ho yes. Living the dream.

cremolafoam · 23/06/2014 21:24

I want a new kitchen. Scratch that I want to demolish this cottage and build a new house. I yearn for clean calm functional space. Our house looks?ok , but it's all theatre design. If you look closely or poke anything , it all falls to bits. Dh won't throw out broken things( he lives in an imaginary world where he has tine to glue and screw everything better) I hate chipped plates and dripping taps(?we have many) and have can overwhelming desire to paint everything white ATM . I have a red Polkadot kitchen. What the f was I thinking?

Lalsy yay are you on the wine yet?
Dd has crashed. All that adrenaline for so long and now she is completely broken. Poor child gone to bed at 7.30 after clearing room.
Feel like a slave driverConfusedSad

Stropps, they'd be very lucky to have you. Keep up the mindfulness . It will happen for you. Maybe not this one, but there will be others .

I have just had a pistachio Magnum
OMG

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2014 21:25

Great - could you PM me the name of the restaurant please as I have forgotten it!

And I actually quite like your cowSmile

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2014 21:26

Pistachio Magnum, Cremo? Why did I not know of such a delicacy?

Stropperella · 23/06/2014 21:32

You may have won it with the damp in the built in cupboards, MrsS. We are damp-free as long as it doesn't rain and the leak in the chimney starts again. Grin

Dd has just returned from the cinema having been dragged there by her friend to see "The fault in our stars". She didn't want to see it as it's not her sort of thing. She said it was "Not exactly good and you could see what was going to happen, so what was the point? Meh." I confess I wouldn't even want to pay 20p to go and see a film about a romance between teen cancer patients, so I can understand where she's coming from. Poor dd, she never seems to like whatever is the "in" thing among her peer group. "Twilight"? "Boring rubbish" was her verdict. "Harry Potter" (back in the day) - too scary.

lalsy · 23/06/2014 21:32

White Magnum here Smile

Stropperella · 23/06/2014 21:36

Ah Crem, I used to have a somewhat homemade red polkadot kitchen. With a very grim poem by Charles Bukowski painted in red on the outside of the larder cupboard. But then I did live on my own. Shame it was before the digital age, as I could have really horrified everyone with pictures of that. Grin

QueenQueenie · 23/06/2014 21:37

No Magnum here Sad

Could you get us organised Mrs S? Please could you post restaurant details again...

motherinferior · 23/06/2014 21:37

My DD1 went to a fan advance screening of that sodding film, Stropps. ShockThe horror, the horror.

Recipe available to all who wish. Will dig out and post tomorrow if I can.

hattymattie · 23/06/2014 21:42

Mrs S - how do you come to have a giant cardboard cow on your living room?

I have now had Hagen Daaz salted caramel ice cream (on top of my earlier Snickers) gym tomorrow methinks.

MI - recipe for genuine fish curry please.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 23/06/2014 22:00

I like the cow, but I wouldn't want it in my sitting-room. Grin

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 23/06/2014 22:03

The cow is DD1's and she had to bring it home at the end of term.

We are booked in here on Friday from 1830. It is opposite the IWM. Nearest tube Lambeth North. Also within shuffling distance of Waterloo and almost any bus that goes to the Elephant. The 3, 159 and 59 stop almost outside. Booked in my name - my real one, not this one.

QueenQueenie · 23/06/2014 22:04

You could put the cow in the chicken palace to keep them company and provide a little excitment Stropps...
