Here we are crepeys - Friday 13th!

OP posts:
Rosebag · 21/06/2014 15:39

cremo yes! it's time she was back in the bosom of her family, I think.
I would love to hide in the car but get dragged in by duty! Having hidden the car instead. Grin Which synagogue?

motherinferior · 21/06/2014 15:51

Remind me never again to ask a straight man what he thinks of my lipstick.Grin

Blackduck · 21/06/2014 15:53

The answer being MI?

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 15:55

here is the only place i could find online to describe it.

herbs - how is your face-tooth conundrum?

Mother's union fashion update:
slacks with creases , front and back
white crimpilene summer frocks with hectic lime green cardigan combo ( popular)

motherinferior · 21/06/2014 16:27

The answer was in fact "I like the redder ones" but it could easily have been the other way round. A slight look of transfixed horror at having to comment.Grin

DD1 is getting a camouflage rucksack (cut price Karrimor at Sports Direct) some Lush bath stuff (from her sister) a couple of books (cunning v cheap deal involving Waterstones offer and £10 off card) and a Next playsuit (v cute embroidered one, probably murder to iron but v sweet and she doesn't get new clothes much)...

Rosebag · 21/06/2014 16:40

That's one I've never visited, crem !!!
I didn't think you could get crimpilene dresses....!!,I remember DM wearing the trousers though....

herbaceous · 21/06/2014 17:29

Right. Discharged my cake stall duties, selling out of everything and making a couple of hundred quid. School fair a riotous success, with a particular favourite being the rodeo bull. My friend's 5yo beat the all-time record, then her 3yo sister beat that!

Now wondering what to wear to this wiggy shindig later, that would compliment this little number.

Quite glad we have to get back at a reasonable hour for the babysitter - don't think I could stand a late night.

NU - hope the new GC arrives without trauma. I bet you're right, and she's got her dates wrong. Though it is quite hard to do that, I guess...

NUFC69 · 21/06/2014 18:02

Nothing to report. DS is now at the hospital before going to his in laws to collect DGD1. Really anything could happen over the next two weeks so we will all be anxious.

Stopped on the way home for fish and chips (which were lovely). DH is knackered after moving the furniture and so am I from supervising.

The presents sound good, MI - particularly like the sound of the playsuit.

Herbs, well done on raising so much cash - go out and enjoy yourself tonight after all your hard work.

Have a lovely reunion with DD, Rose. I bet she will sleep for a week.

I have never been to a synagogue, Crem, good on you for taking DF. (Have you got the definitive chicken soup recipe for ailing folk? ).

herbaceous · 21/06/2014 18:10

What am I thinking? It has to be the Viv W, worn boob-side out. Will show off my school fair sunburn nicely.

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 18:40

Grin @herbs perfect match!

No sorry NU , but I know Mrs S or indeed Rose may well have. I don't make it very traditionally I'm afraid Blush
[heathen Irish blood emoticon] mine is tainted by potatoes or barley although I do make a mean matzo ball.

Rosebag · 21/06/2014 19:03

Grin I make my chickens soup in the pressure cooker. It's dead easy. We don't have it weekly, or anything. Only high days and holidays.
Herbs you ARE good. I have to admit amongst the many things I don't miss about having kids in primary, the school fete has to get the prize. Although I do have a secret chuckle when I remember DH being on pony rides duty and the blessed creature shat all over the playground. ( the pony, not DH). They outlawed pony rides after that on account if it being a health and safety risk.

Thanks NU the poor child will be knackered. I have a sneaking suspicion they'll be expected in school bright and early on Monday morning, though.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 21/06/2014 19:53

My mother always has chicken soup somewhere, in the freezer, if not on the cooker. She and her sister always used to argue about whether to put in pasta or not - her sister's mother in law used to send over small square home made pasta from Hungary to go in the soup. My mother was of the no pasta persuasion, unless she couldn't be bothered to make kneidlach, and then it was a case of, anything goes. The last batch had potatoes in it...

I had dinner with a former chief rabbi of Ireland in Jerusalem many years ago, Crem. He was very, very interesting, and we had a lovely conversation about the Jews for Jesus (whom, I notice, no longer have a large shop on Finchley Road). Friend of mine is flying out to Israel today - made me think I should go back, although most of my Israeli friends have now left, I have one left in Safed, to visit. Maybe I'll take the girls...

Spent a disproportionate amount of time and money in Decathlon in Canada Water today, preparing DD2 for her outward bound trip. DD1 had most of the kit DD2 required, but had unhelpfully left it all in storage at school...

Must get dinner. I think we'll have salad...

Blackduck · 21/06/2014 21:25

Here - two extra children, BBQ, wine, sunset. That will do

The Shape of Crepes to Come
cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 21:54

GrinGrin@ salad . We had eggs 3 ways. Boiled , fried, thrown. ( not really)

I'd love to go back too mrs s. Been 30 years( since kibbutz days)
Which chief Rabbi was it?
Broder or Pearlman?Smile

Bd sounds great. I wonder how Beachy is getting on.?

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 21/06/2014 22:02

Crem - it was David Rosen.

I rebelled and we didn't have lettuce. Grin

Blackduck · 21/06/2014 22:17

MrsS!! You rebel you :)

herbaceous · 22/06/2014 00:03

Excellent wig-based party. Had to come home for babysitter, but not before a number of hairpiece-based incidents.

DP irritatingly shitfaced. Thought I was going to have to stop the taxi a few times.

CointreauVersial · 22/06/2014 01:10

You've had a good day, Herbs! But if your DP is anything like mine he'll snore horribly and be up and down to the loo all night.

It was school fair day here too, but I only went down briefly to drop off the girls and buy a few cakes. That'll be the last one, as our primary days are almost over! Both DDs went to friends after, as did DS, so DH and I found ourselves alone for a couple of hours. Thoughts of stealing away to the pub evaporated when we realised that we couldn't close the newly gloss-painted front door, so a takeaway and a bottle of rose in the garden had to suffice.

Oh, and Rudy - we went for black in the end. Like Number Ten, but without the policeman.

NUFC69 · 22/06/2014 08:10

Last night DDil was stable, so fingers are still crossed. We're all in limbo as we've no idea what will be happening over the next few days. At least we're in a position to help out with any childminding for DGD 1.

The house is a mess as I haven't done anything since before my visitor so I know what I will be doing today.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Rosebag · 22/06/2014 08:19

DD's flight delayed by at least 2 hours. Had enough now...

QueenQueenie · 22/06/2014 09:17

Fingers crossed for your Ds and Ddil NU. It all sounds a shock and a worry.

Beachy, hope all went well and a good time was had by all!

My day in Leeds with ds1 was very good - really impressed with the University and could easily imagine him there. As we returned home, exhausted, more than 12 hours after setting off I realise I don't often get to hang out with him like that much these days...

Off to organise more fundraising later. No rest for the wicked - or the not so wicked. Would prefer to spend the day lounging about aimlessly.

Loving the wig Herbs.
Hope the singing was a triumph Auriga.

QueenQueenie · 22/06/2014 09:17

Oh and bummer Rose. Not long now though!

cremolafoam · 22/06/2014 09:50

QQ Leeds was on dds original list and she loved it too. It's great to get some quality time with ds. Interesting what you can find out about themWink

Ah mrs s , the vegetarian Eco warrior rabbi. A very interesting gentleman, although I've never met him .

Rose, not long now.
NU fingers crossed for gc and dil

Beachy are you up yet?Grin

I am off to weed if my leg can stand up to it. Buttercup annihilation imminent.
Selling on gumtree ATM for Ghana school fundraising so buyers coming for viewing of garden furniture this afternoon. I hope.

QueenQueenie · 22/06/2014 09:59

How is your leg Crem?

cremolafoam · 22/06/2014 10:33

Och QQ it's still agony at times.Fed up to the back teeth of it. Juggling meds but no magic combination it seems. about 40% ok 10% unspeakable , want to be sick pain and 50% throb/ limp/throb/limp Grin
But I can kneel and thus weed, for a while at least.Wink
