Here we are crepeys - Friday 13th!

OP posts:
SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 21/06/2014 07:42

Ohhh, good luck and fingers crossed for you all, NU.

I am off shopping shortly, to Horrible Morrisons and the market to supplement the 4 (IV, four) lettuces. Oh and he made yogurt with the milk...

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 07:50

NU, MIL is 4'10 and had DH 8.5lbs, BIL1 9.5lbs and BIL2 10lbsShock

MrsS, you need to get into online grocery shopping. It revolutionised my life! And his shopping sounds healthy - maybe he and MrI would get on!

Blackduck · 21/06/2014 08:16

Good luck NU.

motherinferior · 21/06/2014 08:40

Fingers crossed here too.

I must buy DD2's birthday presents.

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 09:06

What's she after, MI?

NUFC69 · 21/06/2014 09:07

Must concentrate - just been to the village for fruit and veg and landed up in Waitrose car park instead of going to the baker's (after the greengrocers).

Thanks for all the good wishes.

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 09:27

Fingers crossed for dil NU. And hope everything is as it should be. It does seem very stressful indeed to be thinking about moving house as well as having a teeny tiny baby. Is the house likely to sell quickly?

I am at work right in the middle of the uk mothers union conference. It is a bit like a Per Una Fiesta in the S&b stakes. I am trying to spot mumsnet scarves. Have already seen two (2 II) pairs of the crepey sandals . Shock

Dh is taking dd to browse new laptops for her 19th birthday.( and end of exam bribe)
I suspect therefore it will be loaves and fishes for dinner tonight as a result . Meh!

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 09:36

MI how's it going with the diabetic retinopathy? I have my test in July but last year I had no macular degeneration despite having type 1 for 36 years.Wink

motherinferior · 21/06/2014 09:40

I wrestled the feature to the ground, Cremo. There are some fascinating things to do with the chemistry of the eye but I get confused. GrinFortunately the specialists are, as usual, total darlings at helping decipher it for me. The people who respond to my emails are usually very good indeed.

BTM, she wants a mix of camo stuff, books, and the odd item of clothing...and 'lots of Oreos'. I am also going to brave Lush.Shock

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 09:45

Mothers Union? I thought that went out in the 60's! Pray tell, where are they actually active in the UK? Never heard of them in London!

MI, that sounds an interesting mix! I can't go into Lush as it sets me off sneezing. Badly!

I have just had breakfast in my morning sunspot in the new improved but still growing garden - bliss!

NUFC69 · 21/06/2014 09:57

A Mothers' Union recently started in our village, so presumably they are going strong everywhere (no, I do not go!).

It's funny how things crop up, isn't it? I can't remember the last time I heard of macular degeneration, but I saw a friend this week and she has just had treatment for it (7, seven, VII injections). She has also just had a stent fitted as when they took her BP before one of the injections they sent her directly to GP as it was so bad - unintended consequences of things.

DGD1 is just 2 and DDil was getting worried about schools hence the thoughts about moving (I love her to bits, but I can tell she is a SAHM). DH is supposed to be helping to empty the playroom and turn it back into a dining room ready for photos.

Good luck with the shopping, MI - I can't stand Oreos - I think they are just a waste of space. when is DD's actual birthday, or is it a late pressie?

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 10:09

Agree about the Oreos, NU! Maybe your DIL will join the MU?Wink

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 21/06/2014 10:54

The Mother's Union HQ is near where I work. I imagine it to be full of women with large cantilevered bosoms, tight grey perms, patterned shirtwaister dresses and sensible court shoes.

I quite like Oreos.

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 11:18

yes much cardigan action and hoisting of bosom here. MU alive and well everywhere it seems . there are weemen here form all over the world.
Praise Be. Wink

I hae attached a pic for Beachy. Hope Ddoggie is ok Beach.Have a marvellous solstice.

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 11:19

oreos= bleugh

dd mainlines them though

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 11:23

MrsSShock Who'd have thunk it?!

Love the piccy Cremo!

Just about to serve up bacon butties before DS and I venture up to JL's to look at sofa's and get our cake and coffee and then on to meet up with two of my oldest friends and their DS's, down for the weekend. Haven't seen the boys in aaaaaages (we used to camp with them every summer when they were all smaller) so it should be fun!

NUFC69 · 21/06/2014 11:34

It does sound great, BTM. I always like to see youngsters I knew back when.

We're at DS's - other GM has just taken DGD 1 home so we're now on house sorting mode.

Hospital don't think DDil will go over the weekend so prayers and positive thoughts, please.

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 11:49

Sending my positive thoughts - anxious time for you all.

lalsy · 21/06/2014 13:00

Oh NU, many positive thoughts from me. I am glad they have family close at hand to help.

I really doubt I will make next Friday crepeys - dd doesn't finish exams till Monday and then I have an enormous list of things to sort with and without her as we have a complicated summer with everyone doing different things that need different kit, which peaks next weekend with big family do and school prize-giving. Next two weeks are going to be a bit much (but exciting).

motherinferior · 21/06/2014 13:23

Good thoughts from here too, NU.

I have purchased numerous items (including yet another reddish lipstick for myself - lashed out on a rather nice Clarins one) and am wearily returning home. DP and DD1 can do wrapping etc. She is 11 on Tues - my midsummer baby who arrived in our front room 16 days ahead of schedule.GrinGrin

Blackduck · 21/06/2014 13:24

Beachy hope all goes well this weekend and hope doggie is okay.

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2014 13:52

Sitting in John Lewis with DS who has devoured a slice of cheesecake next to a woman and her mummy. Much smirking at the conversation which has included mummy asking "how long have you actually worked for?"

Rosebag · 21/06/2014 14:20

NU is there any news? Here's hoping that Mother and Babe ( as yet unborn) are doing ok in spite of the unexpected turn of events and the uncertainty. Thinking good thoughts for both of them and to you.

Oreos have to be the most basic of biscuits but they do make good milk shakes...my younger two love Oreo Shakes. Do you think that's why DD wants them mother ?

A bit Envy about the camping get together near the coast. I am yearning to get back to my flat in this lovely weather. This weekend is a bit busy. Have just come back from a friend's son's Barmitzvah. This evening going to the theatre and tomorrow to the airport to pick up DD. she called yesterday..hoarse voice and coughing. I don't think any of them have had more than five hours sleep a night. Phone was playing up but just had time to remind her to remember a hoody and sanitary towels in her hand luggage. She then informed me she gave most of the latter to her friend who came on last week. Fancy not bringing any...

NUFC69 · 21/06/2014 14:31

No news yet. DS is at home doing the furniture shifting with DH and receiving the odd message from DDIL. DGD1 is ok with other GPs. DS trying to get on but looking anxious. Sad We need to get house sorted before DDIL comes home, whenever that is. The estate agent is coming on Tuesday to take photos, although they might delay putting the house on the market.

cremolafoam · 21/06/2014 14:50

ooh Rosebag dd's home soon then? I bet you're looking forward to it.

I have been summoned to take ddad to Synagogue next Saturday as he hasn't been for soo long what with hospital hokey cokey et al. I will be required to make up numbers no doubt instead of hiding in the car in a heathen gentile manner.

NU - all a bit tense.Brew
