Afternoon! Posting from the hairdressers, where the first part of my Silver Vixen plan is being put into effect. Ulp.

CointreauVersial · 13/05/2014 17:00

I'm speechless, BTM. Grin

Re: L6 papers, DD2 will be told on Thursday whether not not she's doing them. I suspect she will, as she is (in her own words) a maths genius. Grin It was SPAG today; not her favourite thing. She's managing fairly well so far.

Hi Bindi. I'm near London, and am possibly the youngest (but definitely not the least crepey) crepey.

OP posts:
originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 17:02

strops nodding my head at the "crepey with craters" bit - I thought Clinique cc cream would be the answer to all my prayers but I have the same experience with it.

CointreauVersial · 13/05/2014 17:04

Remind me, OPM - "silver vixen"??

Have you seen the recent grey hair thread? Think I spotted Bindi....

OP posts:
lalsy · 13/05/2014 17:16

BTM, what, erm, is it [Lalsy comes out from under rock to find everyone else has been sporting knitted playsuits for years]? I assume not a shortie wetsuit?

motherinferior · 13/05/2014 17:21

They all feel vile on my skin- and I'm also fussy about UVA protection.

I think I've lost my prescription sunglasses Sad I feel really stupid.

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 17:30

Silver vixen is the phrase a friend on Facebook was kind enough or perhaps sarcastic enough, to use in respect of my plan to go grey.

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 17:31

And no, I didn't see the grey hair thread. Is it in the same topic as this one?

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 17:54

I was on the grey hair thread. I was intrigued. I'm very blond myself so grey hairs don't really show.....getting the occasional white individual eyebrow hair though. I just colour them. Grin

motherinferior · 13/05/2014 18:49

I'm getting tempted by this silver vixen look but would have dreadful in-between phase...

Have calmed down and realised I can get a pair of prescription sunglasses online for about £30.

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 19:19

The in-between phase is going to be dreadful as I have both grey AND dark roots to contend with (my hair not being exactly natural blonde - more mousy with a tendency to lighten in the summer). So my strategy is to have some highlights to break up the divide a bit, which is what I've just had done. Upside - it looks good (I think) - downside it was even more effing poonds than just getting it coloured, gah. It also took twice as long as I was anticipating, meaning I didn't have time to stay and get it cut. Double gah.

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 19:20

I have had a lot of Shock responses from female friends to my announcement that I am going to let it go grey, though. Which surprised me.

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 19:20

Shock and negative, I mean.

hattymattie · 13/05/2014 19:32

OPM - I tried to go grey and caved. I think if you go a lovely silver white that's great but I went salt and pepper and looked even more old and grumpy than usual. I've decided to wait a little longer.

DH is away tonight so I'm treating myself to a feast of Channel 4 - Embarrassing Bodies followed by Mr DrewSmile

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 13/05/2014 19:34

I would look even more frumptastic with grey hair. I work with a woman who has grey hair in a non-style, she wears clothes that don't suit her and generally has the demeanour of someone who has given up on life. I thought she was in her late 50s, until she told me she had a three year old. She's 40. I think if you do go grey, you need a sharp haircut, good make up and excellent clothes. QQ is a good role model for going grey. Smile

On the other hand, my mother is 81 and has badly dyed light orange hair, which is also not a good look...

CremolaDItalia · 13/05/2014 19:39

Lol at cashmere wetsuit! Hope you weren't serious BTM Confused.

Bindi I will leave the other crepeys to describe my accent. Not lilty, I'm from the wrong side of the mountains for that. Grin But typical for NI , between the two default states of 'rage' or 'outrage'
Do your SAH offspring work or study bindi ?
I have one dd. 19 hoping for university in September. We are mid A'levels as are Hatty and Lalsys dcs

Windy did you say you now have leg pain? Really hope it's not sciatic nerve pain like I have. Cos it's bloody miserable. I woke dh from sleep last night going 'owww aaah' turning over in bedBlush

bigTillyMint · 13/05/2014 20:04

I see lots of women with grey hair who look amazing around where I live. They have their hair cut really well and I agree with MrsS - good make-up and clothes definitely help.

Hatty, I can do without embarrassing bodies (what are those exhibitionists thinking of?) but am looking forward to Mr D. Rudy, I am awaiting a PM

NearTheWindymill · 13/05/2014 20:19

I'm like whoever said they were naturally mousy. Am getting blonder and blonder as I age Grin. My family go grey at the front first - and it really isn't a good look.

I think you should get it BTM - it's a steal at £500 or so off. You could wear it to work on mufti day Grin.

We are in deep GCSE mode and I know I'm old because I can't seem to remember what she's got when without looking at the fridge and even that's a bit confusing because it's got everything on it and some are doing different boards. She has her personal timetable in her purse and on her account.

As we've done it once before with DS I think I'm not as focussed as I was on it because somehow they survive and if they don't know it now, they won't know it on the day. It's just a matter of feeding them and loving them and driving more than usual up and down the A3.

Back's slightly easier. On Sunday night I had wake up DH and get him to help me up when I needed a wee in the night. Normal people take time off work I think but why do these things happen when your baby child is doing GCSEs and you are in the middle of academic promotions season?

I'm London Bindi and the darling children are 19 and almost 16. DS is on a gap year a zillion miles away Sad. Haven't let on how much I miss him!

NearTheWindymill · 13/05/2014 20:20

Oh, and Herbs - I've been thinking of you lots - wow, just wow.

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 20:30

My daughter is in Uni ( she went late) and my son is working odd jobs so he can do his real passion which is filming, skateboarding and organising gigs.

Im not working at the moment. Took some time out and have decided to set up my own business selling pre loved (second hand lol) higher end womens clothes. Still in the setting up process but am collecting stock.

That's why I seem to find myself on MN so much now. Grin

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 20:32

Windy you must miss him terribly and worry too. My daughter is planning on moving out soon if she can find herself a cute little flat. I will miss her Im sure.

bigTillyMint · 13/05/2014 20:32

Windy, I can just see my little lovelies faces, never mind my colleaguesGrin

Bindi, I'm London tooSmile and the DC are 13 and 14.

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 20:33

Crem do you speak Gaelic?
