Let's talk workwear. Maybe a little bit of non workwear fashion chat, too.

My blog is at theworkwearedit.com but our chat goes above and beyond that.

Oops. JL

EduardoBarcelona · 30/05/2014 16:35

Oh fgs JL haven't got them online it seems

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 30/05/2014 16:35

Remus - those trousers are great! I will Pin them. I know what you mean about those sort of tops. I have a similar black leather jacket. I don't wear it often, but love it when I do.

I pretty much live in either a brown leather jacket or a Whistles black fabric one, and think I'd wear a black leather one to death come Autumn.

Littlepinkpear · 31/05/2014 23:11

Remus I love those trousers, will have a look when I'm next in warehouse.

Made use of the stylist French connection code today and picked up two things:

dress comes in black or white (I took white) and is cotton and hopefully not too short.

wedges

I haven't bought anything from FC in a long time as I think the prices don't always mean quality.

I am now on the lookout for some very bright heels. M&S have some nice suede ones but they are £200 Shock calm down with your prices!

Brillenbar · 01/06/2014 04:46

Belinda I have your silver carlies in an 8.5 only 27dollars.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 01/06/2014 08:00

Really?! No way - that's amazing!!! Oh I am so thrilled - thank you! Do you mind buying them and I will PM you re payment etc?

Top Work BrillenBar!!! SmileSmileSmile

LaTrucha · 01/06/2014 08:23

Did everyone know there is 30%off as GPA today? Code is SUNNYDAY Smile

Good news about shoes!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 01/06/2014 08:28

Forgot to ask - what did you get for yourself, Brillenbar? I think I would buy lots at a BR outlet. Although I don't tend to buy anything coloured, there, just neutrals.

pink - love what you bought from FC.

la trucha - I saw that. I have a huge shopping bag from Gap full of babies' clothes - everyone's having babies at the no' and it's the place to shop for them.

I just bought this dress (after seeing it on Sally Nugent on BBC breakfast, sheep that I am). It's lovely. I got it from JL with the 20% off, but it has sold out now I think.

I also splashed out on Floret shoes - they are so comfortable.

I am looking for some slim grey trousers now - has anyone seen any? Pref ending at ankle. There's a pinterest pin that everyone has that I'll see if I can link to maybe.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 01/06/2014 09:31

Beattie - what dress did you get? The Whistles site is bad, and just brought up a page of dresses. The LKB Floret shoes are divine. So beautiful. Which ones did you get? I'll hunt for grey trousers and let you know if I find any. I expect they would be a popular workwear piece. Do link to the Pin if you can - I'd be interested to see it.

Thanks, Pink.

Nice dress, Beatie. That high neckline would be a disaster on me but I am rather fond of severe cut stuff like that (just not on me!).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/06/2014 10:08

These Oasis trousers say that they are grey, but they look more beige to me.

NumptyNu · 01/06/2014 10:09

Hi Beattie, what's your tactic for finding out where to buy items you see worn on TV? I've always found it really time consuming and tricky to get answers......!

LaTrucha · 01/06/2014 10:16

I had a look at children's stuff and nearly got a shorty nightie for DD until I noticed it was £14.95 for 100% polyester. I was Shock as they are usually very good on using cotton for children's clothes.

BeattieBow · 01/06/2014 11:37

It was the Lucy Midi dress in navy that I bought . Remus, I am long bodies and not hugely endowed, so that dress looks good on me - and also my knees are pretty chunky so below the knee looks better (or very short but that's no good for work).

Numpty, I like a lot of what Sally N wears - she often tweets what she is wearing. I think that's a good way of finding out - just tweet the person if you want to find out where they got it! (If you don't mind looking like a stalker that is).

Belinda I don't think this is the picture I meant, but trousers similar to these

thepurplepenguin · 01/06/2014 13:33

Hi

Have been reading for a while, thought I better say hi (and help!)

I have been an early years teacher for 9 years and a student as well for the last 3. At the end of August I will be starting as a trainee solicitor in a large commercial/corporate law firm so I essentially need an entire work wardrobe from scratch.

Have looked at Belinda's fab blog to get some ideas but still panicking a bit!

I know I want a charcoal grey skirt suit as the foundation of my new wardrobe but can't see anything I like. Am planning a trip to Westfield next month so hopefully I might find something there.

In the meantime I was wondering about bags and shoes. I need an A4 friendly bag so was considering the modalu pippa in shark. Don't know if it's too predictable though? Budget up to approx £150.

Beattie - smart tactic. Direct and efficient. If you like someone's style, why not copy it? Don't most of us, more or less?

Purple - hi, and thank you! I'll be back later w thoughts, but I think charcoal is a great colour to build your working wardrobe on. Have you looked on my Pinterest boards? Grey suiting galore, but some of it might be too light? Austin Reed have anything you like? Re bags, have you looked at Coccinelle? Their bags are more anonymous than Modalu's Pippa, although that is a good shaped bag.

OP posts:
thepurplepenguin · 01/06/2014 16:26

Oh thanks, there are some great ideas on your Pinterest. I really like the overall look of the massimo dutti suiting but the grey pinstripe is too light and also sold out in my size. Will keep a watchful eye on the website though.

This is another issue, I am a small size 6-8 and I often look like I'm playing dressing-up in a suit, or it's just out of stock in my size! I rather liked the look of a grey suit from Warehouse but had to give up in the end after chasing various sizes round the county via customer services!

I like the coccinelle bags but the larger ones are just too far out of my budget. There are some nice mk ones on the hof website too, but also out of budget!

I have small pippa that I love so I may still go for the large one for work, glad you didn't completely recoil in horror at the very thought!

Littlepinkpear · 01/06/2014 19:04

Purple banana republic sizing for petites is good. I'm 5ft 0 and the petite range doesn't make me look short.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 01/06/2014 19:06

J Crew also have charcoal suiting and do some bits in petite. Lots of j crew on eBay (US) if you don't mind waiting, but pale at the UK pricing.

Whoever wanted bright heels have you looked at the Boden eBay shop?
Whoever wanted a work bag, my current work bag is the Boden Chelsea bag from said eBay shop. Is possibly my best work bag ever (mainly had TK maxx offerings in the past) as is massive so holds laptop, folders and other necessary detritus, plus I can carry comfortably over my shoulder.
HTH Smile

Littlepinkpear · 01/06/2014 20:11

Bright heels was me! I have looked, I now want an Audrey jumper Smile

Not much in a 5 but thanks I will keep looking at it. I've never been a huge boden fan but I'm converting. I think the dresses are very overpriced but would buy in the sale.
