Let's talk workwear. Maybe a little bit of non workwear fashion chat, too.

My blog is at theworkwearedit.com but our chat goes above and beyond that.

Smile I need to actually move all the Pinterest content to the website. IT hurdles to be cleared, first

I do wear a maxi skirt to work. It's plain black jersey and quite a narrow cut. I wear it with a cream silk blouse tucked in with a wide grey belt and mushroomy coloured jacket and suede ankle boots. It's the one outfit I always get complimented on - along the lines of 'elegant' rather than 'cool' so I think it is fine.

EduardoBarcelona · 20/05/2014 17:10

looks like the price of the M and S best of Gb has gone down - nice new dresses

EduardoBarcelona · 20/05/2014 17:11

the model looks odd in the rest of it

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2014 17:37

Not convinced by the shapes of lots of those - all rather boxy and severe. The shoes, though, look amazing.

maybemyrtle · 20/05/2014 17:49

Just popping on to say that there's a 30% off Gap in this week's Grazia, on and offline. Online the code is GRAZIA, in store you need the voucher but Grazia's only a quid this week anyway.

I really want to like the M&S Best of British stuff but nothing ever really appeals...

LaTrucha · 20/05/2014 20:43

I've just seen this top on another thread. I like.

Has anyone seen it in RL? And if so, what is the fabric like.

LaTrucha · 20/05/2014 20:45

Although on second thoughts, maybe you have to stand at that angle all the time to get it to look nice.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 20/05/2014 21:20

I would love to wax lyrical about the M&S Best of British range, as I shop there for some of our food and the staff have been so lovely to me, over the years. They must treat their staff well, too, as the same staff have been at my local M&S the 5 years that I have been going there.

So, I am a M&S fan, but they really struggle with their clothing lines. Those prices are really quite high, and I know, from experience, that they CAN make well priced, good quality, stylish items (my Autography ankle boots are superb, and I have them in 3 colours). Maybe next time, then.

Fab, thanks Myrtle - I need to go to Gap this week.

LaTrucha - I've seen that top in real life, but not paid much attention to it or tried it on, IYKWIM. It looked nice, but that's all I recall (it's polyester so I didn't investigate further). Lovely colour. I love coffee. Drinking it, wearing it, love.

no darts or anything over the bust?

LaTrucha · 20/05/2014 22:05

They do have two photos of her standing at funny angles. It does annoy me when they call polyester 'crepe,' not that I though that top was anything but. Real silk crepe is so lovely.

LaTrucha · 20/05/2014 22:05

ditto chiffon

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 21/05/2014 04:07

I totally agree re the glorified polyester names. Zara actually entitle some pieces as "wool", but when you click on the fabric composition details, it's polyester.

J Crew use silk and wool creeps, but it's an expensive brand, over here. A girlfriend, when travelling to the US, orders from J Crew and has it delivered to the hotel. Perfect way to shop when on business travel, if you know your sizes.

I buy from Agnès B from time to time, and she uses polyester quite a bitter skirts and dresses. This surprised me at first as I was a natural fibres girl, but I actually find good polyester wears really well, and keeps looking good and fresh when silk, say, would crease.

Bearleigh · 21/05/2014 08:44

"Quite a bit for skirts & dresses" I meant - grrrr at autocorrect, my not checking, and Mumsnet clunky software with no 'edit' function.

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2014 09:48

Mango outlet have a 50% sale on. Code is 6OUTWEEK at the checkout. Quite a bit to sift through.

A lot of 100% cotton which is great but whyyyyy are white/ cream coloured tops so see through?! I dint want to wear a vest top under everything.

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2014 10:04

Just bought sandy coloured slim fit trousers and two white sleeveless blouses. £33 inc del.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 21/05/2014 12:08

Fab news on Mango Outlet - thanks! Am off to look...

Bearleigh - interesting re polyester. I do think that some fibres benefit from having some polyester in them, but I find synthetics to be tricky beasts to judge. One thing is for sure, after wearing an old pure polyester dress (silky feel stuff) the other day, I won't be wearing pure poly again in a hurry. However, The Fold, which is a gorgeous looking brand, sell pure polyester suits. Perhaps theirs is the fine stuff? Not being snidey, but there's obv a difference between the cheap stuff and the fine stuff. Not re breathability, but perhaps it's in the durability.

We need a factory to test out my theories and help us create The Perfect Fabric.

Meeee! Thats gorgeous...ive bought so much recently I might have to put the blazer on the back burner!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 21/05/2014 20:52

Oh I tell you, my. MD wishlist is GROWING! I only buy there in the sale, but I rush in on Day 1, as soon as it starts. I have some of their shoes, and I plan to buy more. They are doing quite a few peep toe and cut away styles, if anyone is looking for summer heels.

Was it Cointreau who told me about the Bloglovin' summaries not having photos? I think that's now fixed - thank you for telling me.

I saw the blazer version of the mini skirt from H&M that I uploaded up thread, and I will try and upload a photo of the blazer. Which of course, I cannot find online. Worth keeping an eye out for in store, though.

How annoying - I forgot to take a photo, but it's the same fabric as this, but in a blazer.
