Let's talk workwear. Maybe a little bit of non workwear fashion chat, too.

My blog is at theworkwearedit.com but our chat goes above and beyond that.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/05/2014 15:57

Yes, nice again - but far too worky for a night out, for me.

noddyholder · 17/05/2014 15:58

Oh I would go out in that for an evening I look terrible in skirts but that would tempt me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/05/2014 15:59

:) I like to go short for nights out! Or jeans.

noddyholder · 17/05/2014 16:01

I wear jeans virtually 24/7 I sometimes wish I 'worked'

EduardoBarcelona · 17/05/2014 16:49

I will try skirt with black Bardot type top and denim jacket

EduardoBarcelona · 17/05/2014 16:50

Its hot at work im struggling with clothes. I was thinking maxi skirt...they're ok for work right?

BillStickersIsInnocent · 19/05/2014 07:30

Depends on the workplace really. They'd be fine at mine, but we're quite casual.

Could you wear a shorter dress?

When it's hot I usually wear slim cut cotton trousers, with a silky t shirt or plain t shirt and a jacket for morning/evening. I would love to wear dresses/skirts but my live in the moment 18 year old self decided to get an ankle tattoo so skirts are out for me sadly.

Warm weather work clothes are hard though, autumn winter much more straightforward.

EduardoBarcelona · 19/05/2014 07:34

I'm with bill. Couldn't you get the tattoo removed?

BillStickersIsInnocent · 19/05/2014 07:51

Yes I plan to but it's hard to justify the money at the moment. Hopefully once kids are at school we'll have a bit more cash to play with.

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/05/2014 09:49

My workplace is def more casual than smart. No jeans/ leggings/ strap tops etc but I think a plain black maxi skirt with plain top/ tshirt would be ok. Am looking on asos now, dresses too.

I really want a coral soft cotton blazer!

cromwell44 · 19/05/2014 18:59

I wouldn't wear maxi for work mostly because of my age and height. They do strike me as very casual and for wafting about in so would very much depend on the casualness of the workplace.
My Summer staples are ankle length tapered trousers, Boden, Gap, TK Maxx Mango ones look good but there isn't one near me. Top with Breton or striped t-shirt, cowl neck silky tops. Top with a jacket to smarten up. Love dresses and pencil skirts too but sometimes CBA with the leg preparation Smile.

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/05/2014 20:04

Yeah I know what you mean about the waftiness Grin
I think ill get some slim leg cropped trousers and pencil skirt/ dresses.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/05/2014 20:12

I occasionally wear maxi skirts to work, with a plain top and a jacket. I avoid the fussy ones though. We have lots of Muslim girls, in long skirts, so staff in maxis don't look out of place.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 19/05/2014 20:46

" They do strike me as very casual and for wafting about in so would very much depend on the casualness of the workplace" - those are my thoughts, too.

This arrived from M&S
www.marksandspencer.com/jacquard-square-knee-length-pencil-skirt/p/p22304230
I'd seen it in store and thought it looked fab so ordered my size online. It's nice but even the 24in is too long, the 10 is a bit big. I still really like it - just not on me.
I need to bulk buy Summer work clothes due to weight loss - so far I've done welll on trousers, still looking for skirts and dresses. Loved the Oasis floral pencil skirt Blinners. Missed it online and in the shops. Now looking for similar.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 19/05/2014 22:13

This dress might be good? It's a bargain www.oasis-stores.com/fcp-product/3170129961

Cromwell - have you looked at my dresses and skirts Pinterest boards? That M&S skirt looks lovely, how annoying that it doesn't fit well!
