Hi, I hope no one minds me starting a new thread, I was about to post on the old one and then saw it was on 999 messages so I'm hoping I can get a link to this one on before it fills up so we don't get lost. Apologies if I've trodden on anyone's toes Blush

The previous thread is here

I still have my old True Autumn fan from Sci/Art, but I am a Blue Autumn, so it's not that helpful. I think I'll just need to go and try a few colours and see which look best. It should in theory be much easier to find Autumn colours in lipsticks than Bright Spring. In theory. Grin

BabCNesbitt · 13/10/2014 20:28

Hopefully, what is the difference between blue autumn and vibrant autumn? (I'm asking as someone who was described as vibrant blue autumn!)

MarthaCostello · 14/10/2014 15:19

Wallis coat is going back. Incredibly poor quality. I know I only paid £75 but the fabric was worse than some I have for a third of that from H&M. When I opened the bag it was already covered in bits of fluff/other coloured loose threads. The fit wasn't great either. Very unimpressed really. And the great coat hunt continues Grin

I need some warm tights, like you Hopefully I think I will look like a prat in coloured tights. I've been wearing 15 denier skin colour ones, but I don't think I will be able to carry on with those much longer, and suspect thicker ones would look absurd. I will have a look for brown ones, thanks for the tip :)

KittyB52 someone recommended a Facebook group, possibly in the last thread, which had a list of make up in autumn colours. They were from the US, but I think some were also available in the UK. Between that and the other list recommended, you might be able to find some brands that suit your requirements? You also may be able to match colours with the testers in the shop. I have stopped wearing lipstick recently, so might look up the lists later and get one that suits me :)

LosBreakingBad · 14/10/2014 19:24

Hi, I'm a soft autumn..
There are loads of lists of autumn appropriate lipsticks etc on Pinterest.

MarthaCostello · 14/10/2014 19:51

Hi Los, thank you, I will have a look :)

I got a bargain sparkly orange nail polish today, it's a Seventeen Colour Carnival one, £1.99 in Boots. They had quite a few possible autumn colours :)

KittyB52 · 15/10/2014 08:15

There are quite a few Autumn items in Sainsbury's clothes range at the moment. I know some people are a bit squeamish about buying clothes in the same shop as fruit and veg, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Grin

RockMummy · 15/10/2014 16:05

I bought a lovely old gold coloured blouse from Sainsbury's the other day so I can second that Kitty. Sadly it is not on their website so unable to link.

Hopefully · 15/10/2014 20:50

Yes, I spotted some things in Sainsbos the other day that looked nice. In fact I saw an autumn client of mine just yesterday wearing a tweedy blazer from there, it looked great.

I am contemplating buying a white shirt and dyeing it cream, I just cannot find a cream shirt that I like.

Charitygirl1 · 17/10/2014 13:32

Who's around?

I am deeply attracted to these - but the black panel makes me feel guilty. I just had to share though. The snake skin pattern is sort of autumnal but very my style (ingenue natural).

Charitygirl1 · 17/10/2014 13:34

More sensibly I also love these - a brilliant winter work trouser for tallish autumns, no?

Hopefully · 17/10/2014 13:55

I think the snake print would be fine - I always reckon if it's more than 50% your colours it's got a good chance of being ok, and if it's more than 70% your colours it'll definitely be good.

Charitygirl1 · 17/10/2014 19:56

It's just the big expanse of black that puts me off. As discussed elsewhere, most of the pleasure of colour is in things going together, and I'm so not keen to out black with all my lovely creams, olives, tomatoes etc.

But the combo of snakeskin + posh legging = crack

Hopefully · 17/10/2014 20:01

I'm the same TBH Charity. I quite often see prints with black in that I like, and it just looks so stark against some of the autumn colours. It's ok with some, but not many, and I hate the idea of having to actually think through what I'm putting on each day!

In other news, if anyone is looking for a sensible waterproof, I've just bought this seasalt one and it is great. Hardly the most stylish thing I've ever purchased, but warm, lightweight, windproof, waterproof, has a decent hood and is long. And is in a good colour to boot. I'm am officially a school run mum now Grin.

reallifegetsintheway · 18/10/2014 09:46

Hello fellow autumns
I have bought 2 nice olive coloured tops in banana republic and wanted to share. (useless at links though)
Draped jersey top in dark cypress and utility shirt in dark olive.
( I am autumn leaf and this is a ++ colour for me)
HTH

MarthaCostello · 18/10/2014 10:33

I have this Pied a Terre Bonfire skirt which has quite wide black panels, but I love it so decided to get it anyway. I wear it with a rust or cream blouse and it seems to work :) I also wear a lot of leopard print Grin which has black bits in.

reallife I think I've found the two tops. I love the draped one! I'm trying to hold off buying anything else until I have my style day, but I'm tempted to make an exception...

Banana Republic draped jersey top in Dark cypress

Banana Republic drapey utility shirt in Fresh olive

I think if you just copy and paste the URL into a post then it is converted to a link automatically. There used to be a tick box somewhere, but I can't see it anymore.

Hopefully · 18/10/2014 10:51

Love that skirt Martha, and the BR tops reallife.

I've just placed a big Uniqlo order in an attempt to get some of the colours I never buy into my wardrobe (I just had a big sort out and realised I have acres of teal, olive, khaki, red and cream, and not a huge amount else). I thought the navy here looked like it might be our warm petrol navy, am hoping that this pink might be a good tone with rosewood (looks too warm to work for Summers, so am keeping fingers crossed) and this purple has potential as a perfect match for royal purple. I'll report back when they arrive! I've also ordered a white shirt which I am intending to dye cream if it fits, as I cannot find a good cream shirt.

MarthaCostello · 18/10/2014 11:21

Lots of lovely colours Hopefully - I hope they all work in real life.

I've seen this draped top in H&M. Is the purple (it's called burgundy, but I'm pretty sure it's not) warm enough?

I'm rubbish at working out purples, but I love the shape of the top, and the other colours are definitely not suitable.

Before my analysis I used to wear a lot of purple, some suited me better than others, but now I try to avoid purple because I really cannot tell if it suits me or if I'm just being drawn back into my old habits.

Rapunzel88 · 24/10/2014 23:20

Hi all, my HofC consultant told me that ideally I should be wearing tonal colours together, rather than contrasting ones. I'm not all that confident about this, especially in the blue/green department! I bought this [[http://www.viyella.co.uk/fcp/product/viyella/Jumpers-&-Cardigans/Buttonless-Chevron-Texture-Cardigan/4528 green cardi]] recently and am not sure which colours would work best with it. Any ideas?

Hopefully · 25/10/2014 09:08

Martha I think I saw that draped top IRL the other day - the red is a true red, so would be fine. Didn't see the purple.

rapunzel the colour police won't come and shoot you if you don't stick with tonal colours Wink - I like green with any of the beigey camel colours, or with dark teal, or mustard.

Uniqlo order was a bit of a bust - the purple jumper was too light, the rosewood was ok but rosewood really isn't one of my best colours and I knew I'd never wear it. Kept the navy although it's a bit dark really. Have re-ordered the shirts in a size up as they weren't slouchy enough and ordered another couple of sweaters in red and teal.

Had a great haul at H&M the other day with faux leather leggings in brown and this jumper in yellow (much more mustard IRL). Also bought a HUGE tartan scarf from Zara, which I have been living in ever since.

Rapunzel88 · 25/10/2014 13:36

thanks hopefully. Glad to hear I won't be getting arrested for crimes against colour anytime soon! I think I'm just not all that confident about putting colours together. Maybe I just need to start experimenting a bit more.

Rapunzel88 · 25/10/2014 14:00

Considering treating myself to this lovely jumper anyone had any success with boden jumpers?

WiseKneeHair · 25/10/2014 20:52

Hi, may I join please?
I had my colours done today and apparently I am an autumn leaf.
Ive been through my wardrobe and have tops and dresses that fit with my colours. However, I have very few trousers and not a single skirt! I don't have that many skirts anyway and those I do have are either black or grey.
So, any advice for a short size 14 about what skirts/ trousers I could get? Thanks
Btw, I love that banana republic draped top.
