Well someone had to do it....

OP posts:
motherinferior · 03/05/2014 15:53

I have my dad's 80th at half term. The horror, the horror....

Blackduck · 03/05/2014 16:13

Then you'll need a night out with us to recover MI!

addle · 03/05/2014 16:54

hello all,

mi - pub sounds lovely and sorry to miss it but got home at 4.00 this morning and am not feeling my very best/also think editing rather like parenting is sort of job where you permanently feel guilty/worried (or i do, anyway)

auriga sorry you feel so rubbish and won't get to sing, hope feel better soon

we're having falafel/tahini/salad tonight cooked by DH. looking forward to it

ds and i look at cute dog/cats together. it's our guilty pleasure

CointreauVersial · 03/05/2014 17:10

MI Blush - yes, it did read a bit like an advertorial but it really was rather wonderful to behold.

Auriga - get well soon.

DD1 has just got back from a friend's house; said friend found an abandoned duckling stuck in brambles a couple of weeks ago, and they have adopted it. It is unbelievably cute; falls asleep in your hands, follows you around and poops everywhere. Now the DCs have decided they need a pet duckling in their lives. We said, of course you can have a pet duckling when hell freezes over

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2014 17:30

Addle, 4amShock was it work or socialising that kept you out till then?

DH has put up wires to support my new climbers. He has gone about it in his usual slap-dash, ham-fisted way and has not used the vine eyes I bought especiallyAngry The wires are done any which way and not even any where the ivy isAngry

Cremolafoam · 03/05/2014 18:22

Evening all. I , like you Mrs S , require a laundry fairy and a chef after a day of directing tourists left right and centre . The city is chockablock full of forriners in advance of the Giro cycling next week. My Italian consists of Spanish in a Belfast accent scattered with a few actual words I've invented from Latin o'level. Biscuit I hopefully have not caused an international incident yet.

I am shattered and require wine.
Wine To mini-meetuppers later.

CointreauVersial · 03/05/2014 18:33

BTM - "if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing it yourself" - this what I've learned after 19 years with similarly unpractical DH.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2014 18:36

But GRRRRRR!!!

It's at times like this that I wish his mother was round the corner to come round and give him what for - she knows exactly what he's like!

NearTheWindymill · 03/05/2014 18:57

I braved the West End to sort out a repair. The District Line was out from South Ken Eastwards. Everything was heaving and am home, exhausted, with a glass of wine poured. I need the supper fairy here - would it be too daring to call out for pizza and to eat it out of the box in front of the tv? DD is mewling for an episode of Buffy with mummy - who is made to concentrate and not Mnet when it is on. Pizza? Buffy? Pizza? Buffy? what to do first?

NearTheWindymill · 03/05/2014 18:58

I raise the vine eyes for the DH who can only use the oven because I have put stickers on the dials so he knows where to turn them to and which ones Hmm.

motherinferior · 03/05/2014 19:11

I am in trouble with my fellow-inmates for choosing Pub over BuffyGrin

In other foot-related news I am trying some freebie stuff (so glam, my life, this was an actual freebie to meShock) for repulsive fungal toenails. Supposed to take four (4, iv) weeks of twice daily application to unpainted nail but if it cures the one in question it will be worth it. I am still in thick socks anyway.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2014 19:28

Windy, I fear your DH will be in the inept corner with CV and mineGrin

Buffy? Don't think that's on my DC's TV viewing list!

I am home-alone as DH has gone off to watch some sort of sport in the pub (thankfully, after the vine-eyes incident) DD is off to watch some Cameron Diaz film with her besties and DS is not yet back from CamdenSmile

See ya soon, MI!

NearTheWindymill · 03/05/2014 19:35

Will yours drive on motorway? Sad. Every time right across France I do it. Mine didn't even learn to drive until he was 31 and trying for babies was made contingent upon it Shock

NearTheWindymill · 03/05/2014 19:37

dd is now in a foul mood because I told her she was daft to listen to the same song 81 times !

herbaceous · 03/05/2014 19:42

Well jel, SE crepesters.

I'm in alone, and may indulge in such middle-class pursuits as putting felt pads on the feet of the piano stool. I also have to try to wash DS's Sportacus outfit. It is becoming a biohazard, but says 'do not wash' in the label.

Or I may just eat pizza slacked-jawed in front of the telly.

MI - if your anti-fungal nail thing works, let me know. I've had 'the claw' for about 20 years, and nothing so far has worked...

Blackduck · 03/05/2014 20:45

They had a fab day out! Left at 9.00 back at 5.30 all a bit sun kissed (red - never thought to chuck in the sun block).... Aside from a dodgy 'not doing the dungeon' moment from the substitute (keep forgetting he's only 8 and the others are 10/11) they had a faaaaaab day.
Took dp up the pub and treated to a couple of pints.....

So knee deep in quills, 'real' ink, swords and dragons....

Have a good one mini crepeys - raise one for me.

Good morning from a grey Northumberland. Yesterday's weather deteriorated and the temperature dropped alarmingly so that I sat shivering at the footie (we did win, though). Afterwards I sat in JL watching DH scoff my free carrot cake. Sad

DS' s family asked yesterday to come for an early dinner tonight so bang goes my lazy afternoon. It'll be nice to see them but I hadn't anticipated the catering.

herbaceous · 04/05/2014 08:00

Hope the mini-meet went well.

I'm a bit cross. We've been invited to lunch today by some NCT friends. You know the sort of people who you immediately like, yet you never seem to get to spend much individual time with? Well, they're like that. I'm really pleased, as it's the next 'stage' of our friendship. It's been in the diary for ages.

Last night DP went out with some good friends, who are known to 'have it large' and said 'don't wait up'. I woke up at 4.30, and he still wasn't home. I sent a text saying he should come home or the whole lunch thing will be a write off, and lay fuming until he got in at 5.30. He then proceeded to snore and keep me awake until DS got up at 7. So, now both of us are going to be sub par for this social engagement.

Blackduck · 04/05/2014 09:00

:( herbs, I'd be a tad peed if dp did that.....

Off for birthday meal here tonight (friends not ds) and then a quiet one tomorrow.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2014 09:07

Oh Herbs, that is not good - I would be seriously peed off regardless of whether we had anything on the next day.

We are off to Car Giant later. Sadly DH will not be rushed into buying anything, so we will be window shopping only. Oh joy.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2014 09:25

Oops, also meant to say we had a good old chin-wag last night in Catford! Thanks for getting us out, MISmile

herbaceous · 04/05/2014 09:28

And... DP's the one who was keenest on the whole lunch thing, as he really likes the man concerned. And now he's going to be grumpy and monosyllabic. I've now been up for hours with DS, knackered, entertaining him while DP slumbers on and I think of quiet ways of spending the morning.

Grrrr.

Blackduck · 04/05/2014 09:41

I don't think I'd be being particular quiet :)

motherinferior · 04/05/2014 10:15

I'd put on Frozen (don't think your DS has seen itWink?) and sing along LOUDLY.

Thanks for the 185 trip, BTM and MrsS. And for tolerating my drunken friends who surged into the pub at 10Grin
