£5000 to spend...

Great Aunt Maud has died at the grand old age of 105, she has left vast amounts of money to the local cat's home, amongst various other charities... plus some to buy memorial benches

Her dying wish was that you spent her money on a fabulous day out shopping... Maybe £10,000 would be better tbh...

She was a firm believer in having a good coat and shoes.

So... you must buy a fabulous handbag for daytime, an evening bag, coat, shoes and an amazing piece of jewellery.
(plus anything else you'd like with the change)

What would you buy?
no Chanel bags please

Is this for a book...?

Fairylea · 13/01/2014 08:53

I'd buy everything from primark and go on a fantastic holiday with the change. .

LCHammer · 13/01/2014 08:54

Seems like a waste. You get bored with everything, eventually.

Annianni · 13/01/2014 08:56

No book, I'm bored and would like to look at some lovely links.

But if it all kicks off, I'm name changing! :o

Barbie1 · 13/01/2014 08:58

No Chanel Sad

I would maybe have surgery to make my existing clothes look better and to look like Margot from that's Wall Street film Grin

Well you did say humor you Wink

ThisIsMeNow · 13/01/2014 09:02

*off obviously, oops Blush

I know they're not to everyone's taste but I've got the speedy 30 and I love it and have had it about 10 years so id update and get a bigger one like this

IndigoTea · 13/01/2014 09:02

I would spend 1K on clothes, make up, hair cut etc.

The other 4K on getting a cleaner and going out for meals throughout the year.

Annianni · 13/01/2014 09:09

Ok Barbie you can have Chanel...

Wuxiapian · 13/01/2014 09:12

I'd put it to better use, tbh: car/kids/the home.

Enjoy!!

whogrewoutoftheterribletwos · 13/01/2014 09:15

Hmmm... agree with cleaner/boring house stuff, but if it were a condition of the will there was an alexander mcqueen handbag i saw in the sales (still £800 - obscene for a bag) that i'd love. and anything vivienne westwood

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/01/2014 09:16

My Grandmother left me some money, with the stipulation that it should be used to buy myself something nice, that I wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford, or for a holiday. I went to New York for a long weekend and blew the lot in a shopping/eating/drinking/sightseeing frenzy, staying with friends. It was the best weekend ever and something I would never have been able to do ordinarily, as the money would have gone on something dreary like new carpets or a new boiler.

worldgonecrazy · 13/01/2014 09:17

I would waste invest it in a weekend in Paris. I much prefer to spend money on food than on clothes, but Paris could combine both very easily.

Floisme · 13/01/2014 09:35

Well I'm a high street woman so I've no idea where I would start but I would love an aunt like that Grin Do I have to get a bag though? I don't get bag-love at all!

QueenCadbury · 13/01/2014 09:36

anni if I can't have a 2.55 I'm not playing Grin

Annianni · 13/01/2014 09:40

sod off of course you can Queenc Smile

Get whatever you'd like Floisme!

It was stipulated in the will that the money must be spent on pretty things... so no carpets or boilers!

QueenCadbury · 13/01/2014 09:41

My jewellery piece doesn't even have a price Grin. But I'll forgo the coat and shoes if I can have the necklace, a 2.55 and a bottega veneta....

QueenCadbury · 13/01/2014 09:42

Damn, I'm enjoying this game but have to take dd to the GP...

TeacupDrama · 13/01/2014 09:45

I get what your grandmother wanted but how would anyone enforce that type of statement in a will?

OhBabyLilyMunster · 13/01/2014 09:47

Id drop a few grand on some new boobs. With the change i would get a first class rail ticket to london and blow the rest in vivienne westwood.

MorrisZapp · 13/01/2014 09:49

They wouldn't enforce it. You're meant to love the deceased and follow their wishes out of respect for their memory.

And wanting a shit load of treats.

QueenQueenie · 13/01/2014 09:50

it's not REAL Teacup..., just, you know, a bit of fun.

EasterHoliday · 13/01/2014 09:54

a proper GOWN. I always wear cocktail length for black tie, but I tried on some incredible satin gowns in Temperley at Bicester and ADORED the feel of them. So that's a grand gone, right there. And if Maud likes coats, then really I must have an opera cape or evening coat to wear over the top - again, never had one (unless you count the emerald green velvet one from Portobello which I wore for everyday use when a student). Astrakhan, if i didn't have scruples about the ethics of it. And if ethics are out of the window, then a crocodile belt and shoes. I think that's my £5k done, right there...

FrugalFashionista · 13/01/2014 09:57

I'll play! In loving memory of her, I'd get this Mary Katrantzou for Moncler coat with a Lady Dior bag and some OTK boots (maybe from Zara because we are already over budget)... That would be about it Grin

Eastpoint · 13/01/2014 09:57

QueenCadbury I reckon Great Aunt Maud has left you her house and £5K to Annianni so she doesn't contest the will.
