I couldn't see that anyone else had started a new thread, after Stropps carelessly finished the old one without starting a new one, so here you are. Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

I am braving the big Tesco to get some dried peas to make pea and ham soup with the ham stock, and carpet shampoo to get the copious amount of cat vomit out of it. Sad One day this flat will feel more like home than like Mr Trebus's house.

I have taken DD1 to have various x-rays and so on for chest pains (minor but fussed about). We bumped into her head teacher who broke her arm skidding on her wooden floor in woolly socks. While wrapping presents.

Blackduck · 30/12/2013 13:31

MI - nooooooo - :) amusing!
Here washing has been done, dishwasher unloaded for the second time and dp has gone off to collect his laptop from his folks .... I am doing precisely nothing :)

motherinferior · 30/12/2013 14:11

Kudos for her to admitting it too, given that she must have known it would go round the y8 grapevine immediately. And their parents..

Rudy :(. Hope you feel better soon. Full of cold here and a headache (but that might be alcohol fueled)

I am not doing anything for NY - I shall watch Sherlock ;).

I, too, have been thinking a lot about 2014 - I want to have some me time and for dp and I to have some 'us' time so I need to break it to ds that sometimes mummy and daddy will be going out on their own. I have also purchased an (orange) radio for the kitchen and am :) at how happy it makes me feel when I am cooking - simple things...

hattymattie · 30/12/2013 17:44

Got a sore tooth - this is ominous. Why does this sort of thing always happen when the dentists are shut.

BD I always have the radio on in the kitchen. Radio 4 in the morning and Radio 2 when I'm cooking in the evening.Smile. Internet radio is brilliant for those of us who live abroad.

Stropperella · 30/12/2013 19:04

Had three lovely days of doing nothing and seeing no one. Dcs still so taken with their fancy toy that they are still being nice to each other and us. Amazing. I must remember to spend obscene amounts of money on them more often. Not.
I am pleased to report that my prediction that I would fill my bras again after Christmas overindulgence has proved correct. Sadly, I have also got a small spare tyre. Can't have everything, eh?

Stropperella · 30/12/2013 19:13

Hope you poorly crepeys have not got the same bug dd has. She made through Christmas thanks to Max doses of ibuprofen and paracetamol and has been coughing like a good 'un for the last 4 days.
I was going to have a day off the booze today, but then I thought, nah, bollocks to that. DB gave me 2 properly nice bottles of wine and I must not neglect them.

motherinferior · 30/12/2013 19:23

I was considering a day off the booze but went to see MrsS instead Grin

herbaceous · 30/12/2013 19:45

No coughing here, Strops, just massively blocked and sore sinuses - making my teeth hurt –following the worst cold I've had for years. And I can't smell or taste a thing. I just wafted some Olbas Oil under my nose, and couldn't smell it.

On the plus side, as food has consequently been so boring, I have yet to put on any yuletide heft.

Stropperella · 30/12/2013 20:34

Sounds horrible, herbs. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Dd has also been interrupting her Xbox marathon intermittently to complain of "face pain". I can report, however, that her condition has not affected her appetite in the slightest.

CremolaFirCone · 30/12/2013 21:03

So sorry to hear of all the illness , ripped tights, thrawn children and booze less cake.
I have half heartedly cleaned the living room but didn't find the strength to boot out the tree. Have got rid of the cards and mantle decos and they place looks marvellously spartan .
Dd is home and contrite. Like our row never happened. She's been asked not to treat the house like a hotel ..
Ha well see.
About to watch scary dog painting programme. Wink Poor poodles.

herbaceous · 30/12/2013 21:55

I had a half-hearted tidy of DS's 'craft area', but as leaning forwards causes agony to the front of my face it didn't last long. Really don't like the panicky feeling I get not being able to breathe through my nose at all. Claustrophobic.

Have amusing new Christmas book: After Liff. Sequel to The Meaning of Liff, my favourite ever book. Example 1: Anglesey. Hypothetical object at which a lazy eye is looking.

Blackduck · 30/12/2013 21:56

Leftover chilli tonight - coughing and sneezing ... And I have promised to take ds to see the hobbitt tomorrow (groan)....

CointreauVersial · 30/12/2013 23:52

Sorry to hear of all the Christmas illness. In rude health here in not-so-sunny Ireland. And on the pop once again. Hic. Wine Wine Wine

Auriga · 31/12/2013 08:19

Just caught up on sleep after a grand total of 45 mins the night before. Awake fretting till four, then DD woke us at 4.:45 in distress with abdominal pain which was getting worse. She never exaggerates and after a while we decided we'd better go to A and E, where they observed her for a few hours and did bloods.

They didn't get a diagnosis but she improved enough to fall asleep and her pulse rate came down. They let us bring her home mid-morning with instructions to bring her straight back if she got worse. She slept for hours & is much better.

I still had to go to work. DH drove me there and picked me up as he'd had more sleep. Got through a few essential tasks, feeling less than refreshed by the holiday Hmm

Amazed at tales of decorations coming down before Twelfth Night - am tempted myself bit we love the tree.

Hope the people with sinusitis and toothache are getting better and glad you had a good party, Blackduck.

Addle, how are things with DD? Have you reached an understanding? And what about that walk some time soon?

Stropperella · 31/12/2013 10:22

Good grief, Auriga, you must be absolutely exhausted. How is your dd today?

motherinferior · 31/12/2013 11:07

I now have perpetual hangover...

Blackduck · 31/12/2013 11:21

Tree will come down tomorrow - I can't bear having it up once in back at work. At the hobbit and then need to get dp a birthday present for a significant birthday on Friday (bloody bad timing if you ask me)

bigTillyMintspie · 31/12/2013 11:54

Sympathies to all those who are ill or have ill offspring. And to all those who have suffered rows/fallouts with them. It's not what you need.

We are just leaving sunny (ha ha) Sheffield after a really lovely few days with our bestiesSmile We managed emergency clothes shopping for DS, a tour of the old haunts, bracing walks on the moors, real ale pubs, cool restaurants, gym, spa and halfprice cocktails in comfy and very friendly (and FREE on Tesco vouchers) Hilton. And lots of laughs too. Kids are knackered (up all night chatting/watching TV) so hopefully will sleep in the car in preparation for tonight!

CointreauVersial · 31/12/2013 12:51

Herbs - the Meaning of Liff is a fave book of mine and DDad's too. It resided by the downstairs loo in my parent's house for many years. I didn't know there was a new one, so I shall add that to his birthday list.

Auriga, you poor thing. Hope you get some rest over the next couple of days. And Crem, how's the shingles?

BTM - sounds like a perfect trip! A great way to round off Christmas. And glad to hear you managed to kit out DS without too much trouble. We managed to find some jeans for DS eventually, that met his high standards, but they must have been the most expensive jeans in Ireland. Angry He wouldn't even go into Penney's (Irish Primarni equivalent). We did have to go in there to buy a â?¬7 coat for DD1, who had left hers at home. I quote: " I didn't know it would be cold and wet in Ireland".Hmm DS has proudly worn his shorts on a couple of occasions, drawing gasps and pointing from members of the public.

I'm still in bed, by the way, pure laziness on my part. We might have peaked too early, with a big session and lots of singing, celebrating the dawn of BIL's 50th last night. Quote of the evening was from 19yo DNephew: "Mum, if you don't stop twerking right now I'm leaving the room". Grin More festivities tonight. I'm not sure I have the energy.

lalsy · 31/12/2013 13:06

BTM that does sound like a perfect trip!

Auriga, what a nightmare. Hope everything is OK now. I am delighted to announce that my Christmas Cold finally seems to be going - hope other crepey ailments do too.
