I start a new job on Monday and really want a lovely stylish new diary for Christmas but can't quite find the right one. Can't afford smythson so don't even think about it!

I have one of those PoshPaula - a socktopus!

dexter73 · 20/11/2013 14:46

Socktopus

PoshPaula · 20/11/2013 14:48

I didn't know it had a name!! (faints)

Perspective21 · 20/11/2013 15:40

I don't , but now I've seen it, I'm sure one would be useful for a little boys socks...

dexter73 · 20/11/2013 22:23

Paul Smith is just talking about the Filofax on the Culture Show at the moment.

PoshPaula · 21/11/2013 08:56

Did he mention the Soctopus at all?

SantiagoToots · 21/11/2013 09:01

I could see Paul Smith liking the Filofax concept - after all he's a man who's built his brand on coloured stripes - clearly a man of order and efficiency!

See I wouldn't like a Soctopus, I'd find that to be "clutter".

PoshPaula · 21/11/2013 11:19

Admittedly, Soctopusses (is that the plural?) aren't visually appealing but they are effective.

Lilliput · 23/11/2013 11:27

Ok. I have bought a red moleskine and will see how I get on. Thank you for all yay and nay on twattishness. Grin

no.

I have had mine for about 25 years.

Blueandwhitelover · 23/11/2013 16:00

I love mine (I'm a packed lunch taking, big boobed TA but never bought anything from Lakeland).
I love it so much that I have a Filofax board on Pinterest and am forever printing out beautiful pages to put in it and looking at other people's filofax pictures.
I am sad.

Dilidali · 23/11/2013 21:10

Now what you need is this, you stick it on the last page of your moleskine and have your favourite pen handy too :)

Dilidali · 23/11/2013 21:29

Sorry, how did the first week go?

SantiagoToots · 24/11/2013 03:57

I need your help hot water bottle users. Inspired by this thread I felt a need to update my filofax with coloured pages, a 2014 calendar, etc. and so my husband took me in to town to treat me.

Alas, the department store that used to sell them has now decided that they're for mumsy twats and as they have an image to uphold I was left bereft. They had plenty of moleskin though, so that seems to pass the mumsy twat test - A woman of a certain age does like moleskin, but it doesn't really compete with a thick, heavy leather binder and the satisfying click of metal on metal.

Can any of you recommend a nice website I can browse?

jammiedonut · 24/11/2013 04:16

I love mine, even if it is a slightly boring shade of grey. I'm terrible for not checking my phone calendar but writing dates down in my Filofax seems to help me commit to memory. Can also tuck receipts/ recipes/ important letters etc inside. Downside is having to find a handbag that fits it in aswell as the rest of my junk.

KosherBacon · 24/11/2013 06:53

Crikey is Moleskine mumsy? I've retired my much loved Filofax as all my contacts and diary are on my phone, but I do use a Moleskine notepad for work. I'm only 33 and don't have a socktopus.

I do have a clothes folder though, so all my piles of folded clothes are the same size.

AntoinetteCosway · 24/11/2013 07:05

Santiago there's an official filofax website that sometimes has promotions but smiths have up to 50% off some filofax stuff at the mo. I may have accidentally bought a second one yesterday to be my project file Blush

PoshPaula · 24/11/2013 13:51

I like the idea of that clothes folder, kosher. There's nothing worse than an untidy clothes pile. NOTHING, I tell you!

jammied if you're as mumsy, blousy and twattish as I am you carry a very large handbag with several compartments inside. Some have a zip, some don't. Then you can make sure you have a clean hanky, a packet of aspirin, some tummy tablets (just in case), a spare pair of tights, a small folding hair brush, a lipstick that has seen better days, a cheque book, purse, Filofax, keys etc etc with you at all times.

I know this is an oldish thread but there is a whole cult of filofax nutters out there into customisation etc.....if you put a search on youtube for filofax their all on there....i think its cool in a day and age where everything is digital and this shows its so NOT out of date....get your creative juices flowing just one example
