Hi Springs.

The belts do make a big difference to most Ings because we tend to be mini-hourglasses and without the waist definition, we look as wide as our hips - which in my case is wiiiiiide. I wear a belt most days now.

What is it that you dislike about wearing belts?

alemci · 14/11/2013 22:09

so sorry Jocey about yout situation, been busy in job but like this thread. try to wear spring colours.

I was going to suggest belts too, Beginner, but too late they cried!

Season, we know your style ( the one I covet, keeping fingers crossed for a week might get awkward) what's your colour season?

Forgot to add that I'm another who hasn't told a soul other than DH ,as would most likely be laughed into the middle of next week, so come on here to feed my addiction Grin

Bright Spring, aquelven - i look kinda like a warm winter

Belts: I always find it hard to get them to look right over things unless the items they're going over are tucked in. Maybe I need more practiceSmile If I have a looser top half, belting it in can feel a bit odd. Not sure why!

While you're here, Season, as the Ing pro, can I ask you what sort of top you wear with jeans/trousers as to give you a fitted waist? Or is this where the belt comes in? I'm afraid I can't see profiles on my phone so can't see your selection of looks. I'm sure getting dressed didn't used to be this complicatedGrin

She does wear other colours too!! That's a cornucopia of aquamarine season anyways, perfectly illustrates the outfits I was attempting to describe above

Report
SeasonofTheWitch · 14/11/2013 22:51

Yeah I might be developing a bit of an aquamarine fetish - these were all from the last month! 2.5 are navy though if that's admissable as evidence?

jumping I either wear belts on my natural waist over tunics and dresses or in the belt loops of jeans/jeggings. Tops-wise I tend to wear blouses tucked in (there's two in the photo on my profile) though if they're longer I'd wear them untucked and the belt around my natural waist over the top.

SeasonofTheWitch · 14/11/2013 22:53

Oh and actual belt-wise, although I have loads I usually default to tan pleather plaited ones or leopard print.

Thank you, I think I just need to get used to it. I have been wearing a completely different shape for so long (skinny jeans, baggy jumpers). Thanks for your help!

embrace your curves, jumping! And that's an order :D

Hi again,

Season - you are stunning. And I DO like your 'look' very much so am even more reassured! Like the boots in particular Wink(Good call Gilly - thanks for summoning Season!)

Yup - also have an slim/small hourglass-ish figure apparently. Weirdly. Shoulders same size as hips! (But boobage still sadly lacking - have larger hips... So, I reckon I'm still pear-shaped) So, that's why I need belts. It makes sense I suppose but I always worry drawing attention to my smaller waist only makes my arse look larger... I'll have to experiment in front of the mirror.

I'm sort of like a warm winter too but have lighter hair than Season - mid-brown - not so dark. (In fact, HoC misdiagnosed me as a winter 8 years ago!) Season would most definitely be a "clear" in the CMB system with warm as the secondary characteristic. (Can't remember who is a "clear spring" in the CMB system on here too but it's the same thing!!)

Ok, right, so I have a slim tan leather belt with a small round gold buckle - not plaited, just plain. I nearly always wear it with indigo jeans, if the top is showing (which it often isn't). Will try that over cardies but I don't want to look too prim - might have to get a cooler belt. The sloppy jumpers won't work with a belt though. They are all sort of this shape (but without the texture, which, actually, I could do with being a 'nat' as well as an 'ing').

Thanks for all the suggestions!

hibernation - think that looks good! Worth ordering and having a try, anyway?!

(Am quite relieved that you have the same closet issues as me Aquelven...!)

Jumping - sorry, I should remember but what is your style type? Nat Ing too? Am guessing there must be some Ing from your lusting after the same AM necklace. (But I didn't think I was an Ing and have loved it for ages...)

Oh thank you, beginner, too kind! :) I'll delete the photo now - I'm glad it gave you hope of a life free from death-by-frills!

I used to live in beloved breton l/s tops, jeans, blazers - that kind of thing - and never felt quite right even though I looked fine. These days everything I wear feels like 'me' and I don't care too much what others think of how I look.

You may find you look back on your baggy jumpers soon in the same way as I do my old bretons - they were the best option at the time but now, I'd just feel too meh and homogeneous (not that they are, they're just not right for me) when it's far more fun to play around with bits of lace, vintage bags and gorgeous beads.

Hmm - interesting Season.... I think I am find it a little hard to adjust to because of my conservative (classic) career choice and therefore daily dress code, which I am so used to now. Been doing it ever since I was at university going for interviews (over 15 years ago Shock).

I'm not v ingenue today. Indigo skinnies, tan bikers, tan skinny belt, bright coral textured sweatshirt with mid-grey long sleeved t poking out a bit ('natural' and springy though Wink). Must buy some everyday jewellery. Etsy is beckoning...Grin

Blimey - this thread has moved fast! Went to bed early last night (feeling much better today) and at work this morning - have spent the last half hour catching up!
Wish I was a bit more Natural with my Ingenue! The Classic often makes me feel a bit over dressed/frumpy/old but I know it suits me.
I live in dresses and cropped cardis during the week for work (think Nigella). The weekends not so great - jeans I never feel comfortable in and there is that thing of showing off your waist makes everything else look huge. I too like big sloppy jumpers over skinnies with knee/ankle boots. Its become a bit of a casual uniform. I'm not keen on tunic over leggings on me - love how it looks on others - guess thats my classic coming out Wink.
Anyway, the trill of the Christmas Party dress shop this weekend. No idea what to go for. I like my arms covered below the elbow. Bit needs to be fitted, one of my best colours (I'm thinking poppy red). Dont like cleavage as I'm very busty, but legs ok from knee down. Budget - as cheap as possible! Anyone seen anything nice recently? I have most major shops where I live.

Help - am now only person to go to style day tomorrow in Glastonbury!
Women phoned and gave these options....

Option 1 - cancel
Option 2 - go on my own
Option 3- bring a friend

Next chance would be April. I have no friends I can coerce into going!
Anyone want to come???
Feeling really rubbish and now gutted!

Report
BeginnerSAHM · 15/11/2013 16:17

I went on my own! It was good! She could focus just on my style Smile. How are you feeling though Joycey? Do you want to go still??

Report
ebaymad · 15/11/2013 16:45

Definitely go on your own Joycey.

I would jump at the chance of a one to one session!

Report
jumpinghoops · 15/11/2013 16:48

I went on my own, definitely the best option. I think!

Oh thanks for all those dress links Aque. I love the phase 8 one and the lace JL one so will have a try on tomorrow if in stock. The first Christmas do is a dinner dance so will need to be able to boggie all night in it! The second is a meal out with work so something kind to the tummy Wink.
I also quite like these;
HoF
Coast
must stop buying Boden but so good for our colours - in Green
Must stop looking at black dresses!
What a dilemma Joycey -I live quite near you and would come along if I hadn't already been styled. Just a heads up but it is Glastonbury carnival tomorrow night, it gets very busy and they shut the streets early so is difficult to get out. If you go on your own you are more likely to get away quickly - can be a nightmare. Or you can stay and enjoy it Grin. Hope your feeling a bit better and can enjoy your day. Cant wait to hear what you are.

Love the Coast one, Mumelie, sorry thought you needed sleeves so only picked those.
Joycey, I'm going on my own next week. I'm really glad, much better than being outnumbered on my colour day. I'm at the opposite end of the country to you or would have kept you company.

Lol I know Aque! I hate getting my arms out as feel after losing weight they are a bit saggy, but like the look and there are always cardis Wink. Love the ones you picked though and will be searching some out tomorrow.
