Hi Mumelie.

What is it you are looking for?

It's a dress for Christmas dos April. I'm really really fussy though! I tried every shape and colour today but nothing was right.
I'm a Blue spring like you. I'm a size 12 but very curvy (big boobs and hips). 5'6". lost a few stone so quite flabby (nice). I don't like my arms out but don't mind my legs. I'm a Classic Inguene.
I love pencil dresses - that mad men look - but don't have the budget at the moment Sad .
If you see anything out there do link for me.

Oh, that's a shame, Mumelie, after all the ones we found online too.
I admire your stamina! I'd have given up long before 50. Did John Lewis have nothing, or HoF? They always seem to have good things online but I'm nowhere near any of their branches.

Another Blue Spring, April....yeah!Grin how many is that of us now? Lost count.
What have I been wearing today? Well, not very springy Blush black skinnies, big jumper in a multi grey thick pure wool( knitted it) with a black cardy on top...it's flipping freezing here! But I am rocking the HoC Shocking Spring Pink lippy & brown suede boots.

Hey there, have been lurking for a while now, thanks for all the tips and links you've all shared! I'm pretty sure I'm a warm spring (self diagnosed)! I'm getting a hang of the colours but not sure on style yet (can't stretch to a style day). By personality I would have said classic-dramatic but by body shape I'm more romantic. Can you be a mixture of 3? Or am I just awkward?!

I think this navy with silver is nice. I saw it in the shop last week and it is lovely. Quite a drapey top bit and the sequins sort of angle inwards at the waist to emphasise it. I'm filled with doubt constantly about colours - total novice! Is it the right sort of navy do you think? Considering it is covered in sequins it isn't too expensive.

I think being a blue spring makes me more on edge than being a normal spring! Grin

Hello Listen, glad you decided to speak to us Smile
What's a romantic body shape, forgotten the link?
I'm hoping to get a hang on the styles next week as I haven't a clue at the moment.

April, being a Blue is just making me depressed at the moment(aptly titled or what?) cos I can't find anything in the shops except navy or teal & I've already overdosed on them.

Yes navy quickly becomes quite dull doesn't it?

What are your ** colours?

Hi hiber, april and listen.
I don't get the chance to post often but glad you've joined us.
Joycey - I'm sure you'll find a way to start to get some classic into your style and you don't need to transform your look totally. Sports clothes can be an exception. Hope everything else is going ok.
I was so disappointed when I went to get the navy boots from JL as they didn't fit my fat size 12 calves Confused. The search goes on ....

I know Aque - but I am fussy. Think it's cos I need my hair done - feel a bit Urgh at the moment. 2 weeks til my appointment! Sad
Hello listen welcome to the thread.

Thanks for the link April - I don't go in River Island anymore (did pre kids but not for about 10 years now). Maybe I aught to have a look in 'younger' shops.

I know what you mean about bring a Blue spring is hard Aque - I've overdosed on navy - do you like any of the less starred colours in the palette to mix it up a bit? I'm quite keen on the shell pink or oatmeal. Both good at this time of year to break up the sea of navy and grey 90% my winter wardrobe! ).

Aquelven- I don't have a real link but from looking at sites like thechicfasionista.com etc I've gathered that a curvy figure suits more romantic style, whereas dramatic is more suited to a tall, rectangular shaped frame. Is this what other people have found, or is it more dependent on personality and tastes? Sorry, complete novice here!

Oh birdy can you link to those JL boots - I need a slim fit and have struggled to find navy ones tight enough (my only thin bit Wink )

Do you know, Mumelie, I hadn't even noticed there was a shell pink. I went & looked at my booklet after reading your post & it's two ticks+ T for texture on my list. I quite fancy a fluffy, snuggly pink jumper to replace my fuchsia one. I've got oatmeal, banana & a couple of peaches in my lesser colours so that opens things up a bit Smile

April, my ** are Dove Grey, Oxford Blue, Leaf Green, Violet, Hyacinth, Aqua, Turquoise & Aquamarine, so not as many as some of the others have & nearly all in the blue spectrum. What are yours?

Well, Listen, I'm curvy but what you might call vertically challenged Confused

Mumelie did you try on the betty Jackson dress. I'm not sure and it probably may be more of a Winter colour but figured it was a better bet than the black, dull navy or maroon out there.

not easy. I am in my 40's and don't want anything to clingy but then it goes to the other extreme and its frumpy.

Hi listen and April! Nice to have more springs aboard. Going to take a while to catch up reading all the posts but hope you find a dress you're happy with mumelie. I always like whistles Christmas cocktail dresses (but I'm rather boring/loyal to one shop!!). They normally get some nice knee length silk ones in which have high fitted waists and are very comfy. I'm no so good at the 'bodycon' thingSmile!

Hello to Listen and April!
I am v envious of you all shopping for evening do's, non in the pipeline for me Sad.

I've just perused the romantic classic thread and clicked on the link about style Here. I have deduced I might be either a classic romantic or a natural romantic. I'm going to book a style day in the new year as I've no chance of fitting one in before then.
Alex has other demo's,this explaining colour and explaining holiday packing which shows how a coordinated wardrobe works. All worth a look if like me you are still a bit unsure!

Thank you glasses, those links are very useful! The lady only really wears one of her colours, and a neutral. I thought it was better to use 2 colours and a neutral? Has anyone been able to do this without feeling like a rainbow?

Hi to all the new people on here Smile

Have you thought about a personal shopper in a department store Mumelle?

Did anybody have a guess at what style they think they would be before doing the style day?

Were you right?

Hi everyone.
Well. Had so me time in town with DH today and I did it, I found a dress!!! H&M (which I avoided yesterday and wanted something special). Navy pencil dress to the knee with chiffon sleeves and a chiffon wrap over the bust all for the princely sum of £13!!! I cant find it online to link to unfortunately. Going to style with red heels, silver leather clutch and chandelier earrings (I think)! Thanks for all your help with links and ideas.
Ebay - I have tried a personal shopper before in Debenhams but it didnt really work for me sadly. Maybe others would be better (JL?).
As for the style day - I thought you could only be one style and had guessed classic before hand. Didnt think of ingenue (had a bit of romantic about me, which I still er on that side I think).
Anyone else?

So pleased you found the a dress! It all sounds very glam Smile

I haven't heard great things about Debenhams, but lots of shops do them now, even Topshop.

Personally I can't see myself in stripes or frills, don't do belts and tunics either.

I'm hoping i'm a classic something.

Just popping on to say Hi (especially to all the newies!)

Have had a very busy weekend so just catching up!

Romantics tend to be a full curvy shape, very hourglass, think Nigella! (some people also say less tall too, 5'3'' about) Dramatics tend to be much more angular, more sharp if that helps?

Mumelie that dress sounds lovely and what a bargain! I am sort of with the others - fed up of shops not having anything bright and cheery at the moment, roll on Sping!

Evening all, just back from girly weekend and catching up, hi to newcomers.

Butterfly is spot on, dramatics are all angles, romantics soft and curvy. But it's such a blend off body and personality it's difficult to guess, eh Joycey?? :-) great style type though, classic ings are beautiful creatures. I think Grace Kelly when uh think of them, serene and stylish with a feminine touch

Aque I'm a lot less "blue" than you I think! I have more of the poppy/coral/pink in my palette. Have to admit to being very lax though. I try and just stay in the spring palette really.
