Hope everything works out well for Joycey Smile

Glad to see another Golden Spring on here Birdy. I like the idea of a beige sweater dress and the tangerine beads.

I know how you feel Mumelle, feeling a bit icky myself and desperately need a hair cut.

My parka came yesterday and I love it, as soon as i ripped off the paper and saw the colour i fell in love Grin
Such a gorgeous creamy, goldy, greeny warm colour and everybody at work said the colour really suited me.

If i hadn't been HOC'D I would have bought the navy but I love this one so much more.

Grats on being a Nat Ingenue - dunno what it means but it sounds good Wink

Right - boden coat in orange has arrived and I am so disappointed. It arrived very creased and just looks cheap. I love the colour but it is so bright it is definitely wearing me rather than the other way round. The buttons are also awful. So back to the drawing board looking for a coat.

The list of colours is really useful as I had my colours done fifteen years ago by colour me beautiful. There are definitely some colours on your list which are not on mine so am thoroughly confused. Can anyone recommend a colour consultant in the south -near Guildford ideally?

Ah, shopalot - sorry about the coat Hmm... Back to the drawing board then! eBay - glad the parka went down so well. Sounds lovely.

Not quite sure I want to be an 'ingenue'. Don't like frills or too much fussiness. Apparently that's the 'natural' toning it down. And i can't wear stripes as they are too boyish/gamine. Not sure I agree they are but that may be right. Seems that classic was ruled out for me as I don't like wearing lipstick/proper make-up but I'm not so sure. Yet. Feel a bit sick/guilty at having spent so much money... Really liked the consultant - she was lovely - but think I knew a lot of the 'good' bits already.

Beginner...you won't get shot if you wear a stripeWink If it helps, I haven't bought or changed anything I wear since I had my style done (yet!)

Also- to add, my consultant said the most obvious example of a nat ing was Kate Moss. How does her sort of style sit with you?

Gillybobs · 14/11/2013 19:47

Beginner you don't need to do frills or fussy, it's just about adding feminine touches. That can be in jewellery, a touch of lace etc. my friends who are nat ing do a lot of tunics/leggings/knee length boots outfits with maybe a few small scale necklaces. Just keep any patterns you do small scale not big flowers (too rom) or harsh lines (too dramatic) . Lace tunics are great, as are printed tunics with patterns like little birds etc

Nat Ings also rock the jeans/printed blouse/cord blazer combo, again keep patterns if any small, and add some jewels. It's a great style type I promise you.

Beginner, sorry, I've just realised my first comment sounds really flippant, I didn't mean it to be! Do you think she's got you wrong or do you think the way she presented the style types to you perhaps didn't make you feel comfortable with them? I say this only because my consultant talked through a few ideas of things I could go for that didn't sit really comfortably with me (ie. jeans tucked into slim pointy high heel boots, no thanks)but looking around since I've realised there's many other options that fall into the style types but that will create a look that's more 'me'. I'm not sure of this rambling makes sense or is at all helpful!

Hello Springs! I lurk on here sometimes but I don't often post as I don't have time to check every day and I worry people might think I'm ignoring them!

I had my colours done by HoC earlier this year - I'm a blue spring - but haven't had style day so I don't know about that...suspect I've got some natural in there somewhere as I'm a bit of a scruffy cow!

Most of my double star colours are bright (coral, geranium, poppy, flamingo, leaf green, bright blue, turquoise, aquamarine) and I'm really struggling to find good springy colours anywhere this time of year, other than some brights in Boden. Does anyone have any tips for good springy shops (online or otherwise)?

Welcome hiber Smile
Glad you jumped in instead of just lurking, we all get too busy to post sometimes.
Another Blue Spring! So many of us, though some of us me seem to be far more blue than others who get the reds & corals as** Envy

Can't help with the shops yet, sorry, as I'm really struggling too.

Hi again all,

Welcome hibernationtime! Feel free to pop on and off here whenever it suits you. We won't be offended at all if you don't respond to each and every post. In fact, I sort of hope you don't because it's nice for this thread to be busy - which means most of us can't really keep up with responding to everybody. Anyway, I won't be remotely offended if you don't comment on my posts!!

Jumpinghoops - didn't think you were being too flippant at all. I actually think I may have been taking this whole HoC thing a little too seriously... Wink. I think I need to get back to work or focus on more important things!! But, it's still fun and I'm feeling better having read your and Gilly's comments! (It's my guilty pleasure, anyway - can't admit the extent of my addiction in real life - or even admit to some friends I've had my colours 'done' as they would laugh their socks off...!)

Yes, I do like Kate Moss's style - I think I have a very similar look Grin Wink. Not really but she is one of my preferred celebrities for style looks, which sounds like a good thing. (She's a bit too grungy and boho for me but the general look is, obviously, pretty cool.) I think it may well have been the way the consultant presented the style types to me - a bit anyway. She's a really lovely lady who did 'get' me pretty quickly and was very fun and sparky. I think she just has a totally different look and preferences to me.

Gilly - love the sound of your nat ing friends' looks actually. I like tunic/jumper dresses (not too fussy or 'woman'y) with leggings/opaques and my calf length (tan!!) bike boots. And live in skinny indigo jeans with sloppy jumpers. In fact, I've been lusting after a gold Alex Monroe necklace for ages - fine chain with a small feather on it - which is v "ingenue". Apparently I need to show my waist more so the sloppy jumpers/long cardies should be out but I just LOVE them. They are so cosy. (One of my faves has lace shoulders though so maybe that was a bit of a clue to my "style" all along...)

I'm feeling excited/inspired again now ladies - thank you Thanks.

Mumelie - we do indeed sound quite similar! In terms of double stars! And I think I sound v similar to hibernationtime.

Aquelven - your colours sound perfect to me... I'd love more blues/greens. They are totally my favourite and I have platinum engagement/wedding/eternity rings which would look nicer if I was blue-er (IYSWIM)...

Love the thought of you snuggling in a fuscia fluffy jumper that makes you look like death Grin!! Cosy is the way to go at the moment.

Re Spring colours in Shops. Um - try "Pure" online for basic knitwear or Benetton. And Whistles is good for Spring basic neutral colours (charcoal grey, bright navy) - they also look like they might have a few poppy/geranium colours online but I'd have to look in real life as it's hard to tell on screen (and I don't get out much!).

Beginner you need to get friendly with some belts! Makes those cardis a nd jumpers just perfect. Yy to Alex Monroe necklace, perfectly ingenue. Just get some lace, cord in your life and some gorgeous jewels (Etsy is your friend here). I have asked one of my nat ing friends to come and give you some inspiration, I am hoping she will be here soon ....gazes into middle distance for season of the witch

oh Beginner Nat Ing is fabulous Smile.

My cons said I was rom ing but could do nat ing for a daytime look if I wanted as it would perhaps be more practical for daytime, however nats can do more texture eg chunky cardis which I find just make me look bulky so I deffo need those finer fabrics - but they don't always keep you warm! would love to pull off the nat bit though!

Also I think it seems common with us ingénues that we didn't expect it ( at 5'10 and a size 16 I did not expect ingénue!), but after a while to get our heads around it we realise how well it fits!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm going to ignore the bombsite that is my kitchen and spend the evening checking out Benetton, Whistles etc. I've just spotted this cashmere jumper on Tesco website which calls itself orange but I think looks quite corally pink www.clothingattesco.com/knitwear/f+f-signature-cashmere-v-neck-jumper/invt/bm322210

I've cracked the spring makeup I just need to inject some more colour into my wardrobe!

Ah she has a flowery, frilly batphone direct to me, beginner

So you've joined the cult, eh? I was a bit meh to begin with at the thought of being a wussy, simpering ingenue feminist emoticon but now I reckon Nat Ing is the actual best type, fo' reals.

You can do all the gorgeous prints and lush jewels stuff but do it in a way that means you don't look too girly.

You checked out the The Pierces? Total Nat Ing porn.

Gillybobs · 14/11/2013 21:49

I see the frilly bat phone is working well

I nearly linked to the pierces for beginner but some of their stage looks are a bit OTT, didn't want to freak her out! What other nat ing icons did we come up with season?

I think we mostly gave up, tbh gilly. They're thin on the ground.

I'm not calling myself an icon but I'll do a quick collage of a few recent looks if that's helpful. Warning: it'll feature a LOT of boots.

Right, I've uploaded a collage to my profile. All the selfies are down to a 'thing' I'm in with Gillybobs. Scuse repetitive pose - I only know one.

I'll delete this shortly as I have no wish for the world to know I'm a total weirdo.

Beginner, I want that AM necklace too, has been on my Xmas list to DP for the last 2 years. Maybe it's time to treat myself!

Welcome hiber, glad you've found us.

I cannot get my head around belts. That's the hardest bit of all for me.
