Lands End are an American company (there is a size converter online). I am now a 10/12 in UK size, and find the size 6 in their size is perfect. They are a straight cut rather than skinny so fabric 'skims' rather than clings.

I am a bit of a pear and wouldn't have thought this would have suited me but I am told they make me look all Audrey Hepburn (well, ish although obviously with bigger under eye bags and more child-related splodges.)

Shoes wise I have some tan suede heels with a pointed toe which look good with them and an aged pair of bronze ballet flats from.Clarks (Athough I am currently lusting after these www.stylesnob.com/shoes/paloma-ballerina-lime-army.html ). The raisin ones I can wear my chocolate knee high boots over on cold days and they have a similar look to skinnies (but nicer, on me anyway)

Am also perennially on the lookout for blazers as something with a bit of shoulder always helps to balance me out. Sigh. One day my dream long-line blazer will come....

ocelot41 · 15/03/2014 22:42

Like the shoes Travel! (mentally adds to Lust list...)

lougle · 15/03/2014 22:43

They are quite nice! I'll have to save some money.

JenniMoo · 16/03/2014 03:52

Thank you lougle and travel Thanks I'll go through those links properly tomorrow but there must be something there.

TracyK · 16/03/2014 08:53

I have a fab navy long line lightweight blazer - a Mexx one from years ago - I love it. Now Im on the hunt for some more for the summer. I am sooooo annoyed - I had the perfecto one in Zara last year in a warm egg yolk colour and thought it was a teensy bit tight so didnt get it. bah.
rench Connection have a blazer on Zalando in various colours - bit longer on the hip. I think I need shorter ones though as Im longer on top and shorter in the leg. Its just getting a shorter (but not too short) with long arms that the prob for me.

TracyK · 16/03/2014 08:54

My fave eyeliner is a Bourjois shadow and light in brun and caramel. The brun is a perfect dark brown and lovely and soft to apply. I think that colour combo may be discontinued - so will be hunting it on ebay.

TracyK · 16/03/2014 08:57

No 33 blusher from HoC is my fave 'warm' blusher. It give fab cheek bones if used as a shader and also warms the face when lightly applied to the nose and under chin etc

ocelot41 · 16/03/2014 18:21

TracyL warm egg yolk colour sounds perfect! Let's keep each other posted on how the hunt goes...Will go check out the French Connection ones. I'm always torn between longer line or crop blazer - either works. On the hip does not...

schmalex · 16/03/2014 18:30

I'm lusting after Sunrise this dress from French Connection.

I'm not entirely sure where I'd wear it, but the colour is gorgeous!

schmalex · 16/03/2014 18:31

Doh - link fail! Obviously I was not referring to the black one...

RockMummy · 16/03/2014 19:01

It would be nice to have in the wardrobe for any special occasion such as going out for dinner or even for a wedding with a jacket over it and some great shoes.

GatoradeMeBitch · 16/03/2014 20:41

MAC High Tea may be a good lipstick for Autumns, it was described as a golden peachy shade by a YouTuber I watch.

TracyK · 17/03/2014 08:56

That's a super pretty dress schmalex. Gorge colour too. I've had a quick look on JL ocelot and no blazers jump out at me :(
The search continues...

ocelot41 · 17/03/2014 18:30

Is this an Autumn teal people? Not sure if its greeny enough.... www.theprettydresscompany.com/fashion/Hourglass-Indian-Teal-Three-Quarter-Sleeve-Pencil-Dress.html

ToffeeWhirl · 17/03/2014 19:03

That's funny, ocelot. I linked to that dress upthread. The consensus was that it did fit with the Autumn palette. It's a gorgeous dress.

ocelot41 · 17/03/2014 19:14

Ooh sorry Toffee! Did you get it in the end? If so, how did you find the sizing and service? Some threads have been v critical of how long the deliveries and refunds take, which puts me off a bit.

ToffeeWhirl · 17/03/2014 20:14

No, I'm still deliberating, ocelot. I love the dress, but I can't think of many occasions when I'd be able to wear it, so I'm not sure I can justify the cost. Was planning to wear it at a birthday party in May, but suspect I'd be overdressed.

I really love dressing up, but most of my life is spent on the school run, at home or packing books for our business in a dusty warehouse, so not much call for glamour dressing Sad.

ocelot41 · 17/03/2014 21:12

I know the feeling!

ToffeeWhirl · 17/03/2014 23:01

Maybe we should both just buy the dress anyway and wear it around the house! Grin

ocelot41 · 18/03/2014 06:33

A bit more va-va-voom with your vacuuming! I like the idea! Someone has a pretty dress company thread going as they are thinking of getting the cream version for their wedding. So am watching....

Seriously though I ALWAYS do this, fall madly in love with dresses I can only wear for special, or at most for work (shift type ones/wraps) but far more of my time is actually spent either working from home, or running round parks after DC.

I am trying to replace a fair chunk of my wardrobe after losing the last stone and have been saving up for this, but funds are limited. So maybe I should focus on trying to 'do' casual wear well. I don't want to keep wearing tracky bums that are now two sizes too big!

Although the prospect of making DH's eyes pop out of his sockets on date night with THAT DRESS is tempting...

ToffeeWhirl · 18/03/2014 08:55

The sensible thing is to focus on casual wear, ocelot . But yes, it is tempting to get it just for a date night - although you might need to go somewhere more glam than the local pub Grin.

ocelot41 · 18/03/2014 09:19

That's what I was thinking.... onwards and upwards with the search for colourful, interesting, WEARABLE clothes...

But 'tis a BEE-YOO-TI-FUL dress ...

ToffeeWhirl · 18/03/2014 10:28

It is beautiful and impractical, ocelot Sad

TracyK · 18/03/2014 12:48

East has a sale on just now - some nice dresses there

schmalex · 18/03/2014 12:54

Ah, ocelot, I have exactly the same problem. I love buying dresses but I live in jeans! For some reason I don't feel comfortable spending loads on a pair of jeans, but on a cost-per-wear basis it would make much more sense. I have promised myself a pair of Jbrands once I've had the baby and lost weight again.

The dress you link to above is very versatile though. It's kind of an autumnal LBD!
