hopefully apple jade is my only light two star colour so I really wanted something in that colour for summer.

Ocelot thank you for the encouraging words. I've lost 8lbs now but plenty more to go. As a pear shape I'm still quite slim on my top half so will be able to wear the cardis even when I lose more, so I didn't mind spending money on them. Keep me updated on your trouser finds, think it will be autumn before I'm in the market for new trousers.

ocelot41 · 25/02/2014 20:30

8lbs is great - well done Seri!

My task now is to keep it off rather than yo-yoing! I figure some nice clothes that I really care whether I fit into or not (as opposed to post natal ones....four years later) is a pretty good motivator.

Will post if I find good autumn trews for pears. Although I may end up taking up dressmaking in despair as bloody EVERYTHING seems to be skinnies (which are just unkind) or wide pants (which drown me unless I am wearing sky scraper heels).

I have ordered some Kettlewell ones in aubergine to tide me over, but am going to try chinos, straight cut and anything else I can get my paws on to see what works. Much as I love my dresses and pencil skirts, a Mum has to have some 'park wear', you know?

ocelot41 · 25/02/2014 20:44

Actually Seri (and other Autumns) what do you think of these moleskins?
www.houseofbruar.com/house-of-bruar-ladies-moleskin-jeans-prodtp12000/

I have never heard of the company before, but they are a straight cut in a range of Autumn colours. The rest of the website kind of makes me go 'argh!' (am so not huntin', shootin' type lady) but are the trews worth a whirl do you think?

supadupapupascupa · 25/02/2014 21:22

I reckon you should give them a whirl! the colours look quite different on the photo to the 'choose colour' bit though....Dark Denim anyway.

ocelot41 · 25/02/2014 21:38

I thought maybe the Olive and the Choc or mid brown? The photos are terrible thought - what possessed them to layer the model with so many (REALLY ugly) heavy knit sweaters that you can't see how the waistband sits or if the thighs are wide or slim fit? Just loathe to get something that will make me look uber conservative. But if the cut and colours are ok, I guess it depends how you dress em... The rest of the catalogue though - oh the horrors!

Seri77 · 25/02/2014 21:54

Think the olive is best of bunch. Is the aubergine cool? And the tan is erm, dare I say, a bit poo-like?

I agree about learning some tailoring skills. Being able to adjust a waistband would make life much better for me. I am currently sporting 'droopy crotch' trousers until I can comfortably fit into the next size down trousers waiting in the wardrobe. I just wear wide trousers and a fitted cardi. It's the Audrey Hepburn look Hmm.

supadupapupascupa · 25/02/2014 21:59

i have real trouble with purple. i love it but cannot distinguish a warm from a cool one!

ocelot41 · 25/02/2014 22:18

I agree on the olive seri - plus I have just seen that the choc ones have a SIXTEEN week wait (are they serious?!)

And I am so glad its not just me supa, I really struggle see what is a warm purple too...

ocelot41 · 25/02/2014 22:31

Or alternatively terracotta or teal.in.these?

Hopefully · 26/02/2014 08:14

Ocelot it's probably really shallow, but I find having lovely clothes in the 10-12 range stops me gaining weight, as I can't afford to replace them with the size up and I love them so much I want to be able to wear them all! I'm already looking forward to shedding the pregnancy weight once this baby is finally removed.

I'm a consultant and purple is the one colour I still have to use my swatch book for! The number of times I have picked something up thinking it's royal purple or heliotrope and realised it's a totally Summer colour. Just remember you're looking for either a rich warm vibrant purple or a deep aubergine that is closer to a rich chocolate brown than anything else. Those trousers are summer IMO - a good way of identifying summer colours is that they look like some of the other seasons' colours viewed through a barbecue smoke haze, iykwim.

ocelot41 · 26/02/2014 08:19

Thanks Hopefully! I am still very new to this and am still experimenting. I won't be able to afford to replace clothes if I get it wrong so I really value your advice. How's your pregnancy going? Are you on the last lap? Sounds like you might be....:)

Hopefully · 26/02/2014 08:27

Only four weeks to go. I am SO BORED of being pregnant! Much more so that either of the previous ones. Am so glad that I only want three, I don't think I could go through the whole thing again. I haven't put on too much weight this time, but the downside of that is that my bump looks comically ginormous compared to the rest of me Grin

ToffeeWhirl · 26/02/2014 14:26

Are you going to have your baby's colours done, Hopefully? Wink

I received the chestnut tweed skirt from Ness today. It's really good quality and has an unexpected and lovely bright lining. Did have to breathe in a bit to pull it on (went for a size 10 because someone upthread said the sizing was on the large size), but it fitted beautifully once it was over my middle Blush. Have given up booze this month, so am hoping the weight will drop off me Hmm.

Hopefully · 26/02/2014 14:36

Toffee I haven't even managed to make the older two sit still long enough to be draped yet! I have managed a partial effort and am fairly sure they're both Springs, but they are not interested in the full process, the heathens. On second thoughts, maybe I should analyse the baby before it's big enough to escape... Imagine the milky vomity drapes though!

ToffeeWhirl · 26/02/2014 14:52

That's hilarious, Hopefully! Grin

ocelot41 · 26/02/2014 14:53

:) Hopefully. Hope the birth goes well for you. Glad you like the skirt Toffee, sorry it was me who found the sizing a little generous - hope I wasn't misleading! Blush

ToffeeWhirl · 26/02/2014 15:05

No, it was my fault, ocelot - I just need to lose some weight and stop thinking I'm still a skinny 20-something, Grin.

And the fit is fine once the skirt is on.

ocelot41 · 26/02/2014 15:37

I am dead impressed with the quality and the price - will deffo be going back to them Toffee. Read about them on a thread entitled 'tell me about mail order companies I have never heard of before' or something like that. Mumsnet, fount of all knowledge...

ToffeeWhirl · 26/02/2014 17:05

Me too, ocelot. I have learned so much on Mumsnet.

schmalex · 26/02/2014 19:08

Hopefully, we are due at almost exactly the same time! I've got a CS booked for 3 weeks 3 days. Not that I'm counting...

I am also looking forward to losing my baby weight and shopping in earnest. Had to get a fix today in Topshop and picked up this coral/gold necklace.

I had a Me&Em brochure through today. I love their stuff but it's all black! Does anyone know if their 'moss' colour is an autumn one? It looks pretty dark.

Hopefully · 26/02/2014 21:24

Scmalex it is quite dark, but tones in we with autumn colours. Maybe a bit stark on warmer/fairer autumns. I can wear it but am a dark blue autumn. It's certainly going to be better than black! My CS is four weeks exactly (I am so counting the days) so virtually identical timing!

sotiredfornow · 27/02/2014 12:07

Hopefully - sorry to bombard you with more questions!

But, I have my style day coming up very soon and am in the process of picking out a selection of pieces from my wardrobe to take.

Can I ask, how many items would be best to take? And which specific items would be most useful for you? I'm sure I saw you comment that there's only so much you can garner from a pair of jeans so that's not a particularly useful choice?!

I'm kicking myself because I've had a HUGE clear out and I really should have kept some of those things to take with me as a discussion point. For example, I don't have a single blazer now but would very much like to hear my consultants thoughts on what the issue is with blazers (I buy them over and over but end up selling or donating as I don't think they suit).

Thanks for your help, again :)

I've cracked and bought this orange coat, despite the fact I won't be able to do it up over my preggo/post-preggo belly for a while yet.

Weirdly, it's £98 but if you buy the tall version it's £89.

I'm also contemplating these trainers but I'm not quite sure if they're really lizardy enough... I get very stuck with lizard grey.
