Not sure (have lost it!) but think its still in the HoC sale section.

'Burnished winter' sounds so gorgeous! Would they be able to get away with wearing warm metallics like bronze? I madly want a (non-naff) bronze dress one day.

evelynj · 06/12/2013 17:59

Charity-I ordered the blue autumn before & wasn't impressed either. Loved the colours of the 2 nail varnishes in the sale but sadly they chipped badly after a day so back to revlon for nail varnish.

The fire coral maybelline 24 hour has arrived & is good. I also ordered some gold coloured pearls & like them-going to get some coffee coloured ones next too.

Seri77 · 08/12/2013 15:20

The Debenhams turquoise dressing gown finally arrived.

It's a very good colour - a lighter shade of HOC navy (no 31) on card and very warm and comfy. My non autumn pjs will be mostly covered up by it.

So my quest for anything in my 2 star colours continues as navy is only 2 ticks at 100% for me. Had a look at Kettlewell camis and scarves but they don't seem to quite match my two star colours.

I'm intrigued by coffee coloured pearls - any pics to link to?

SpoiltButGrateful · 08/12/2013 16:41

Hi all, some advice please - Gold or rose gold? Trying to decide which colour would work better on a watch bracelet. Thanks.

Hopefully · 08/12/2013 18:03

Spoilt I like rose gold on soft/blue autumns and yellow on others, but either would be absolutely fine.

Hopefully · 08/12/2013 18:04

Oh, and I would go rose if the yellow was really really bright, as it sometimes is, as it can look a bit Spring like next to autumn tones.

ToffeeWhirl · 08/12/2013 18:13

Oh dear, this green wrap dress seems to have fallen into my shopping basket Shock.

That dressing gown looks lovely, Seri .

No idea which to recommend, I'm afraid, Spoilt. Both look gorgeous and it's such a personal choice.

I need advice: I am wearing this new teal tee shirt today, but I'm not sure about the colour. Can anyone see if it is an Autumn colour or not? I thought it went with the palette, but it doesn't look right on me. Am not sure now if that's because I'm still new to this colours lark and can't see what looks good or if I have inadvertantly stumbled into the wrong season Confused.

Aquelven · 08/12/2013 21:25

Sorry to but in on this thread, lurking from the spring thread as you have such promising links to warm things Smile
Just that I have a question for Hopefully who doesn't come over to us, understandably.
Can you clear something about Blue Spring please?
As we can wear both gold & silver I assume that means we lean cool. But do we lean to winter or summer?

Hopefully · 09/12/2013 09:50

Aque I'll pop over to the Spring thread so others can see the answer Smile.

Hopefully · 09/12/2013 09:51

Toffee I would wear that t-shirt as a blue autumn, but it doesn't look terribly warm, almost leaning towards a summer jade/sea green colour.

ToffeeWhirl · 09/12/2013 10:13

You're right, it isn't a warm colour at all, Hopefully, and I know I need warm colours. Is it because I'm an Autumn Leaf that it doesn't really go with my skin tone? When I wear it, the colour really stands out and I look pale, whereas when I wore the olive green or chestnut brown tee shirts, they seemed to blend with my skin somehow.

Hopefully · 09/12/2013 10:34

Yes Toffee, an autumn leaf is a real warm autumn, none of that on-the-cusp business like with soft/blue autumns. Great that you are able to see it!

ToffeeWhirl · 09/12/2013 16:19

Ok, lesson learned. Thanks, Hopefully. I wonder if I can dye the tee shirt chestnut brown with Dylon?

The warmth is the one aspect of this new colours thing that I can see. But I do struggle with seeing if colours fit into my palette. I thought this tee shirt fitted, but it seems it doesn't - or, at least, not for me.

evelynj · 09/12/2013 16:30

Coffee pearls link here but cheaper ones available on eBay

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DaVonna-14k-Gold-Cultured-Freshwater-Brown-Pearl-Necklace-7-7-5-mm-/301035975449?pt=Fashion_Jewelry&hash=item4617247319

Like the dressing gown v much. Am going to try to make a very small list for the sales & start thinking about things I can use for my 2 week Spanish villa holiday in June that my wonderful fil has just booked ;)))

Still liking the 24hr fire coral. It's got such staying power that I'll be tempted to put it on under other lipsticks that it tones with.

If anyone knows any decent places to buy gold dangly earrings, that'd be great-got a couple of pairs of gold plated on eBay but quality is variable. Also loving gold hoop earrings as my new staple when I'm not wearing studs.

Saw a lovely russet coloured car the other day & had car colour envy!

Ihatecobwebs · 09/12/2013 20:05

So, as I am a soft blue autumn, what am I on the cusp of? My 100% ** seem to be spread across the range, tend to be mids and lights.

At my style day I came out as a natural gamine, and with that, plus the styles which suit my shape and my colours, I have very little in my wardrobe which is on the "right side".

My other query is jeans - is a standard denim a universal colour, or should I be looking for jeans from the autumn palette. My consultant suggested Levi Curve or NYDJ, to suit my shape, but Levi's only seem to come in a couple of blue and black/grey shades, and NYDJ are on the "eye-watering" expensive side.

I need to be in a different mindset to spend that much on a pair of jeans, but my consultant did suggest looking at some clothes on a cost per wear basis, so being prepared to spend more on jeans that look good on me that I will be wearing several times per week.

Hopefully · 10/12/2013 07:37

Ihate generally a soft blue autumn is leaning towards summer, but I have a client who is so obviously an autumn it's hard to think of her as remotely soft/blue until you get to the ratings stage. She definitely has nothing in common with a summer! But in general, that's where it's kind of leaning towards.

Spottycurtains · 10/12/2013 09:06

Oh dear, I'm going to have to confess. I had my colours done in the summer was diagnosed a vibrant autumn. I've tried, I've really tried but I just don't understand. When ever I think I've bought something in my two star colours I'm never that impressed. I and my friends still think that grey is one of my best colours but the consultant said it was a no.
I admit I initially went because I am so bad at seeing what's right but other people have backed me up.
Could she have got it wronge. I don't want to go back to her as I didn't find her that warm or friendly. Her look of disgust when I told her I bought a lot on eBay was very judgmental. Wish I had gone to a lovely Hopefully.

ToffeeWhirl · 10/12/2013 13:03

Hmm, I wonder if you have been wrongly diagnosed, Spotty. I was diagnosed as a Spring by Colour Me Beautiful years ago, but I can clearly see that I suit the Autumn palette now that I have been diagnosed as that by HoC.

Your consultant sounds dreadful, actually. She doesn't sound at all well suited to the job (not warm and friendly? Disgusted and judgmental? WTF?). You should come out with confidence boosted and sure that you have found the right colours.

Hopefully · 10/12/2013 14:58

Spotty that's an awful experience, I'm so sorry you had it Sad. I'm sure if you told your consultant you just weren't seeing it still she'd be happy to see you again, but if you didn't exactly click (which it really sounds like you didn't!) and you want to get it sorted, maybe worth a call or an email to HoC head office to ask what to do next? If you want any advice from me about sorting it, please do PM me.

Did you see it at the time you had the analysis, or was she having to convince you into it?

ps: I am a consultant and I buy half my clothes from eBay Grin

ShinyBauble · 10/12/2013 15:47

This jumper is in the H&M sale in burgundy and petrol blue www.hm.com/gb/product/12030?article=12030-C#article=12030-D

It's really soft too. 1304 code takes £5 off order.

Spottycurtains · 10/12/2013 16:05

Thanks, but I'd feel mean reporting, I was there for a long time and did say that I didn't understand. I sort of got embarrassed at the end of not being able to say oh I see what a revelation and thought I might get it once I'd gone out and looked for myself.
I think she was used to a slightly posher customer and told me stories of shopping with clients twice a year and they would spend thousands for the season.
Well I have now tried endless shopping trips and it is my fault I can't see if a colour is warm or not, can't tell if it's an autumn green or not. I keep my colour chart with me but I'm still confused. I buy things I think are the right colour and then at home realise they they don't look as good as my old staple grey. I'm sure it's not just me getting used to the new colours. Anyway I'll stop rambling now, I'll keep reading all your great ideas and hope that something rubs off. I'm desperate to stop looking like a bag lady and get a bit of style before it's too late. Although at 45 I might already be a lost cause.

ShinyBauble · 10/12/2013 16:29

Do you know which season matches up with your favourite grey shade? Maybe look at the other colours in that season and see if it works for you.

Hopefully · 10/12/2013 16:54

Spotty you are definitely not a lost cause! Have a good read through the workbook (the skinny little book you get with your analysis). I found it really hard to visually match colours at first, but I found using the descriptive words in the first few pages of that quite a big help.

Spottycurtains · 10/12/2013 17:29

I have done but will try again. Don't worry I want give up, I have made one great purchase, a jumper dress in olive from Unqlo, friends loved it and one has gone on trip to London to choose another colour in the same dress for me. I'll see her wise choice tomorrow.
It's very out of character for me to think so much about my appearance and the reaction has ranged from amusement to sadness that I might be feeling under confident about my looks. But these reactions are from friends I've known most of my life, used to seeing a can't be arsed type attitude from me.
I've worked on my hair and it's now not such a straw like mess. I've got some makeup and am getting better at putting it on but I can't lick this cloths thing.
I appreciate it's also my fault, I'm difficult, I want to look good but spend little money, I want to look groomed but not to essexy, I want to look elegant but effortless.
Sorry again about all the wanting and ranting. It's quite nice to get it off my chest.

ToffeeWhirl · 10/12/2013 18:14

Shiny - thanks for the tip. I'm very tempted by that jumper, but can you (or anyone) explain why 'petrol blue' in that picture looks like green to me? Maybe I'm colour blind Confused.

Spotty - sounds like you were really unlucky with your consultant. I wonder if HOC would sort out a second opinion for you from another consultant. The one I saw wasn't exactly sure about one of the other clients (she seemed to look good in two seasons, lucky woman), so she arranged for her to come back and get a second opinion from another consultant.
