Mmn Beachy I luuuurve crab apple jelly. Like the sound of your apple marathon. If I was fit to wield a jelly pan id be doing this too. The hedges are full of rowanberries and rose hips which make terrific jelly( like sunset in a jar,Grin)
As it is we have done nothing today except stare at the ironing mountain which is teetering in the corner. Dh had to move it in two lots as it's so heavy. For reference the top I wore to our last meetup is at the very bottom.

For once NI is getting off scot-free as it were , regarding the impending Tempest. Good luck everyone in the sarf of engeland. Hope you've got everything strapped down.

And I think condolences are due to QQ due to Lou Reed's passing (unless I've got very muddled of late)Sad

Blackduck · 27/10/2013 20:33

QQ knew Lou Reed?!!

Cremolafoam · 27/10/2013 21:14

Poor old Lou. Saw him a couple of years ago performing. Shock Legend

beachyhead · 27/10/2013 22:09

No, I think she just loved him, but I may be wrong! I thought she talked about him on this thread, but I may just be appled out ...

Pouring here , but waiting for the wind now.

QueenQueenie · 27/10/2013 23:29

Aw Beachy, ta for the condolences. I was quite fond of Lou, although on balance not as fond as I am of Laurie Anderson (his feisty partner)... but the one I truly love is Leonard... I will have to go into proper mourning when he pegs it.

After a nice few days with everyone together in Suffolk the dss decided to end half term with an enormous row. Swearing, violence, the works. Am feeling very fed up with them both and with myself for getting pulled into their horrible behaviour. Crap.

CointreauVersial · 28/10/2013 00:26

Kids, eh, QQ, who'd have 'em? Just when you are enjoying the glow of family togetherness they get all horrible.

Had a lovely evening with DM and DSDad, and I'm very glad they're here, as DM would not have ventured around the M25 if she'd left it til tomorrow. I'm just listening to the wind and lashing rain and hoping the garden will be in one piece when I wake up in the morning.

Just seen the news about the 14yo boy lost in the sea at Newhaven. Poor lamb. Sad This is the sort of thing that keeps me awake at night.

On my way to work here - bit wet but nothing out of the ordinary at the moment!
I liked Lou if only for Perfect Day...

QQ sorry to hear about the rows. I had ds in tears on the phone yesterday (he's at my mums) all the pre-teen angst is too much for me!

(Have booked 3 of the 6 places in Mexico so now seems like a reality)

Auriga · 28/10/2013 07:18

Sorry to hear that QQ. Hope not too many bones broken. Are you back at work today?

Ruby I shall rub it in all the way up to the day we go! Grin I have warned ds this means no/few Christmas presents - this IS his present....

This week it's dishwasher (part 2), floor, dog to vets as he is going deaf, bonfire party .....

beachyhead · 28/10/2013 08:17

Sorry QQ, Leonard not Lou.....
Not too much damage here, two panes of glass shattered in the greenhouse and two fence panels gone. But the sun's out now and looks lovely out there.
Very jealous of Fly purple boots, Ruby.

We seem to have teenage angst here, we haven't done angst yet, so new territory. I think the overload of work and socialising is just taking its toll.

motherinferior · 28/10/2013 08:36

I am embarking on the usual precarious work/kids combo of half term. Even when they are occupied (and I have taken the precaution of arranging stuff for them to do every day) they're still...there. Which sort of takes up bits of my brain.

Just been catching up - at DM's after a mammoth drive - including 2hrs spent at London Gateway services as the car was doing a strange judder/misfire. Turned out the garage had forgotten to put a cable back on a spark plug after the serviceAngry

BD where to in Mexico? I did a fab tour of Central America many years ago, including the Yuckatan - you will have a great time!

Any preferred dates for a pre-Christmas bash? We'd better sort one soon as diaries are getting full!

Blackduck · 28/10/2013 08:51

Ds is at my mum, then dps mum and then back, so I have a few days respite!

I bought a lovely long hooded cardigan off of Uniqlo, went back to have a look at other colours and its gone! Blimey sold out quick!

motherinferior · 28/10/2013 08:53

I am about to interview a man about his prostate cancer. Thus adding to the continual glamour of my job.

MI, I know exactly what you mean about dc taking up bits of your brain. I run away to internet cafes sometimes, so they can't ask me where the butter is. I don't have brainroom for that when trying to crank work out.

Here's to a calm week with teens.

bigTillyMint · 28/10/2013 10:12

DS is moaning about the taste of DM's peanut butter. TBF it has a sell by date 2 years out of date. Told DS not to moan - that's nothing for DM!

Off to do tour of Anfield this morning - yippee Wink

Blackduck · 28/10/2013 11:14

BTM - Yucatan - Mayan temples and all that.... two weeks..... back on Christmas day!

Ruby - can't see it! theres this one but that's not it! One I bought is ribbed and has no buttons and is longer...

CointreauVersial · 28/10/2013 13:19

Just received this from Woolovers, in grey.

It's gorgeous! Lovely shape; slouchy without adding pounds.

motherinferior · 28/10/2013 13:41

That is exactly the one I have had my own eye on Grin What shade of grey (oh dear)? I mean, charcoally or school-jumper?

OP posts:
lalsy · 28/10/2013 14:08

I've just got that in navy! Love it, think may not take off till march. Is really warm, quite long, hangs nicely and moss stitch has no chilly gaps. MIght get the grey too.....
