It stayed dry!

And we raised £3,700 for the Royal Marsden Cancer charity!

The little lassie with leukaemia we were fundraising for came out of hospital for the day, and it was lovely to see her toddling about with a big smile. Someone baked a beautiful cake that we sent back for the nurses. Everyone seemed to have a laugh, we didn't run out of booze and the MD gave me a big bunch of flowers for my efforts.

The only goof I made was pricing the raffle tickets at £1 a strip; fine for a Brownie raffle, but when people were flashing twenties and announcing they weren't staying for the draw....I ended up with RSI from writing names on tickets and had to send DH into town on an emergency dash for more raffle books. If I had a fiver for every sodding person who came up to me and said "Do you know, what you should have done is £2 a ticket...." we could have doubled the charity fund. Doh.

I am now aching all over.

I am busy having a frustrating day arguing with a complete moo on Etsy over non delivery if a coat I ordered in May. She's now had it returned to her ( never arrived here) and is refusing to either send it on or refund me. Angry She wants me to pay again for delivery. Angry

Oh dear Cremo.

DD is currently doing/moaning about/struggling to complete an art homework she was given over 7 weeks agoConfused

Cremolafoam · 08/09/2013 20:26

Eek btm art homework's quite a hard one to do at speed!
Hope she gets it done!

This woman is driving me to drink
She's now saying she'll refund me for the coat ,but only if the coat resells. What a load of bollox. Never again . It would have been easier to just move house to a country where coats are not a requirementWink

Busy and potentially stressful week ahead here. Have packed ds's stuff for Llanrug trip, and need to pack for self as coming down Wednesday to London (course, and seeing mum).

Cremo tell her you want the refund - you have not had the goods - she owes you!

Bit stressed as had a huge storm here on Friday and as the roof is being redone we only had plastic sheeting resulting in inevitable leaks - they have been round to sort it but they promised me they' all be here 4 men on the job - Monday - where are they? Luckily it didn't rain over the weekend but there are ominous clouds on the horizon.

Crem - she should just refund - she should have stickers all over it saying undelivered.

Report
hattymattie · 09/09/2013 09:04

Just to add Crem - I've twice had things not arrive from Boden - if it doesn't arrive within 10 working days they either refund or resend whichever I ask for.

Crem, tell her you'll take her to the small claims court.

Ha - I was just about to link to that same letter, MI. Crem, quoting the Sale of Goods Act usually works - v useful Act, I have invoked it a number of times in the past.

Today was the first day in several months when I woke up feeling a bit chilly Sad. We have still not got any further with our new windows. We are going to be cold cold cold again soon.

Except she's in the US.
I have referred my case to Etsy support . She sent this yesterday.

Well like I stated in my first response to you today I will be contacting easy staff tomorrow. I can't simply manifest money I don't have to send to you because you refused the package at the postal station your lucky I'm offering a refund to you at all. I know I'm not in the wrong and the Etsy terms and conditions are clear to me the package made it to You and was then returned to me because you either refused it or didnt pick it up NOT my fault and completely out of my control. As far as I'm concerned you should be thankful I'm willing to give you a refund at all because as stated in my shop polices I don't normally give refunds. My best regards I will be contacting you soon.

Posting to give you a sense of her raddled brain. The package may well have got as far as the uk but I never got it or indeed a note to say collect from Post Office.
Biatch
I'm lucky apparently.Grin

Oooh, certified crazy lady. There must be applicable laws in the US that would cover non delivery of goods? I would forward her email to Etsy and tell them this is what their sellers are saying to Etsy customers and that you no longer feel Etsy is a trustworthy site to order if they have sellers who refuse to give refunds and basically behave like children. Be interesting to hear what they say - they may just shrug and say Not America, Not Important, in which case we will all know to avoid them in future. Which would be a shame as Etsy has some very cute stuff!

It's raining again - more leaks :(. But we will get our bedroom roofs replastered and painted. I think my kids may sleep downstairs tonight. The weather forecast is dire - I need a golden September.

US lady sounds bonkers.

MI - saw your DC's were doing "invasion skills" in PE on FB what exactly are these Confused

Snap, BTM. And I have earache. EARACHE. On top of leg-ache which persists - I think my mistake was going swimming yesterday.

I have no idea what invasion skills are. I suggested a horned helmet...

Report
Stropperella · 09/09/2013 15:01

Bah, MI, have you not seen Horrible Histories? Horned helmets are so 20th century, apparently :) "Invasion skills" does sound like a rather odd thing to be doing in PE. Is this some kind of shifty recruiting process for the CCF? Grin (Dd did that for a while and then gave it up when she realised that she was having absolutely no fun at all doing press-ups in the mud after school. I said nuffink. Well, actually I may have said some grumpy words about being forced to shell out for bloody army boots which are now, of course, collecting dust.)

Sorry to hear about your Etsy travails, Crem.

Hope MrsS is home safe and sound and will never be troubled by AB or his like again.

Hatty, hope your builders are getting busy fixing everything in doublequick time.

I took ds to the local agricultural show on Saturday. We were browsing the cows, but decided the neighbours would not approve even if we only got a teeny-weeny one. :) My homemade cheese project will have to wait for my next life. We also admired the giant vegetables in the horticulture tent. Ds vastly impressed by the giant marrow. Simple pleasures..

Garden produce is a bit thin on (in) the ground this year. My potato crop was weedy to say the least, the rocket and spinach bolted due to disorganised watering and the bastard slugs repeatedly ate the courgette flowers so no courgettes. However, we do have some tomatoes and would have some raspberries if the chickens didn't keep nicking them.

Dd went to the show under her own steam with friends. Which I am very pleased about. She is also doing lots of sporty stuff with friends at the moment and has been a bit more social than previously, which I think is healthy.
