I did it!

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 09/09/2013 15:16

Stropps, that all sounds very positive for your DD

motherinferior · 09/09/2013 17:00

Have just had exchange with DD1. ?Do you have any homework? OK, crack on with it when you?ve watched Wolfbloood.? ?It?s not DUE till next WEEK.? ?Well, you will get more over the week, you know??

bigTillyMint · 09/09/2013 17:21

Hmm, sounds familiar - had a similar exchange with DS. It's the Y8 effect!

herbaceous · 09/09/2013 18:17

As I won't be spending money on nursery any more, and have sold one jacket to a friend for a whole £10, this seemed to justify a trip to TK Maxx.

Very good haul, though maybe a little rash. I'd been looking for the elusive waterproof yet stylish coat for school run, park, etc, and think I've found it in something like this, which was £60 reduced from £120.

Then I bought some Hudson Carly jeans, reduced from £210 to £50. Not quite sure what I was thinking, as I wouldn't normally spend £50 on a pair of jeans, especially when they're miles too long and will need taking up. But there we are.

Oh, and a jumper/sweatshirt on a whim on the way out. And some shower gel. And some moisturiser.

CointreauVersial · 09/09/2013 18:30

Ha, MI, that's so funny, exactly the same conversation happened here! Across the country grumpy, whining children were being kicked off the sofa as the closing credits of Wolfblood rolled.Grin

I had all three with their noses to the grindstone, although DD2 has finished all her homework, and I can now hear Elbow booming from DS's room, so I'm guessing his is done too.

Herbs - jacket looks great, and judging by this week's weather you'll be needing it.

It's official. The central heating at Chateau Cointreau has been switched on.

hattymattie · 09/09/2013 18:37

Ooh - is Wolfblood back - I liked that (childish); I used to watch it on Sunday though with DS.

motherinferior · 09/09/2013 18:40

Apparently so Grin

In other news I have offloaded DD2 next week so can come out for cocktail hour, I very much hope.

bigTillyMint · 09/09/2013 19:25

Herbs, nice jacket!

I have no idea what Wolfblood is and I suspect my DC don't eitherGrin

Great news MI!

Cremolafoam · 09/09/2013 20:07

Ooh herbs vair niceEnvy

Was wondering about bd's maman when is the op

I have made a damson cake with some damsons I have gathered hereabouts. It is in the oven ATM . The recipe was a bit peculiar and came from a WI pamphlet I found that dh must have had given him from the olden days. ( 70's at a guess) will report back.Shock

bigTillyMint · 09/09/2013 20:16

Yummm! I love Damsons!

Cremolafoam · 09/09/2013 20:27

Me too BTM . But am always looking for unusual things to do with them.( apart from jam or gin)
I made damson ripple ice cream last year . Was delish.

We have lighted the fire due to cold cv! Have withheld central heating until breath can actually be seen .miserlyWink

bigTillyMint · 09/09/2013 20:31

OMG, damson ripple ice-cream - lush!

We haven't got the heating on, but I do have an extra jumper on!

Stropperella · 09/09/2013 21:03

Blimey, not very cold here at all. Was actually quite sunny and warm this afternoon and we had to switch the fan on in the office. I refuse to put the heating on before October. So there.

herbaceous · 10/09/2013 10:53

I say crepesters - do buck up! We're halfway down page two!

I have an S&B question. I need a new facial moisturiser. I have tried many, but keep coming back to Clarins (especially if a gift!) However, it's tres cher – the one for 'mature' skin is over £50 – and I wondered if anyone had any cheaper alternatives to keep that crepe at bay?

motherinferior · 10/09/2013 10:56

Eucerin is pretty good...many people also swear by Avene. I'm sure that when MrsS gets back to us, she'll suggest La Roche Posay too.

I am wearing a THERMAL VEST.

Managed another sedate Ladyjog this morning: in answer to previous questions, I did possess trainers (freebie from former job) but purchased a (pricey) bra and a bumbag to stuff the iphone and keys in. Downloaded the Couch to 5k. All this took a lot more time and faff than it should have done, obviously...

herbaceous · 10/09/2013 11:10

I had to wear leggings, socks, a vest and a jumper IN BED last night. I think it might be time to remove the summer duvet.

I am intending to do the 30-day Shred today. We shall see.

I must say, this 'school day' thing is odd. Don't quite know what do with myself. Have so far just pottered about, doing little bits not very well. I think I need a routine.

Stropperella · 10/09/2013 11:31

Quick poll: if you pay for school lunches, how much do they cost? Ours have just gone up AGAIN.

Still not cold here :) Went down the garden in my pjs earlier to recapture escaped chooks who are far too good at flying and are likely to end up as dog's "chicken tonight" dream dinner unless my wing-clipping skills get up to speed v. soon. Dh is doing adding some wire to the top of the fence this afternoon to stop them from landing on it.

Stropperella · 10/09/2013 11:32

Meh, this latest MN upgrade prevents me from posting in my usual browser. Will have to get new browser to continue to post.

herbaceous · 10/09/2013 11:59

Bloody freezing in the house. Probably more so due to contrast with this time last week, which was spent in the park with DS. Seems a very long time ago now...

Re school lunches, ours are £2 a day, but obvs primary.

bigTillyMint · 10/09/2013 12:05

Stropps, funny you should say that - my colleagues DD who has just started in Y7 seems to be spending a fortune! My DS buys a pattie or baguette using his fob - I think about £1.30? It's not a balanced meal, but I force feed him fruit and veg when he comes homeGrin

Herbs, you need a DH like mine - radiatorman! And a routineWink

Stropperella · 10/09/2013 12:07

Ds is year 4, so I'm talking primary as well. Hmm. Ours are now £2.50.

Stropperella · 10/09/2013 12:10

Yes, dd gets by at upper school on £1.50, but she does have actual proper food like chicken curry etc and what's more it all comes from the same kitchen that does the food for ds's school. Hmm

motherinferior · 10/09/2013 12:38

I switched to the winter duvet last night.

DD1 is £2 a day, I think: DD2 is per month and I know how much it was this month because it was the Satanic £66.60 Grin

Stropperella · 10/09/2013 12:46

My dcs only have school lunches two days a week. The rest of the time I give them packed lunches as ds in particular won't touch the rest of the week's menu (he has a great distrust of "things in sauce" and won't eat tomatoes unless in the form of soup or ketchup) and frankly I can do decent packed lunches for a lot less than £2.50.

Stropperella · 10/09/2013 12:49

MI, those devil dinners seem v. expensive to me Grin
