Bra experiences post Mumsnet fitting guide!

LyonsDemesne · 04/09/2013 14:09

Just thought I 'd enquire where everyone was at post Mumsnet fitting expertise!
I have went from a 34D to a 32F or a 34EE.
When I look at my old bras they just look ridiculously( sp) wrong.
I cannot understand how I could not have been aware of this !!
My clothes sit better , my boobs are pert.
I look like less of a sausage shape as I have no defined waist.
The only downsize is that I have gone from the pretty bra range to the bigger and not always gorgeous Bras!
I was recently in the states and Victoria Secreat had only 4 bras in an EE cup and they did not go any bigger than that!
So any suggestions for gorgeous larger bra stockists are welcome ! And guidance on the fit of the bras too !

I've gone from 36C to 32DD. I've found brastop.com to be very good.

SorrelForbes · 04/09/2013 14:46

Brastop
Figleaves
Me & My Curves
Amazon
Bravissimo
eBay

BTW, there's no size EE. Do you mean E?

LyonsDemesne · 04/09/2013 15:37

Sorry I was in the US and there is an EE and EEE but no F ??? That was what I found anyway!

Thanks for the shops !

Ah, good old US sizing! It's quite bonkers. They us DDD for E and so on.

TallulahBetty · 04/09/2013 16:40

They had me in 36DD but i now wear 34G. Which isn't even the "same size" if that makes any sense?

It's probably a combined style/size issue.

Which bras did you try/buy?

MoreThanWords · 04/09/2013 18:11

I've just ordered a shock

MoreThanWords · 04/09/2013 18:12

As I was saying ...... I've ordered a Shock Absorber sports bra from Boobydoo at a very reasonable price.

I went from a 36D to a 32GG.

CatAmongThePigeons · 04/09/2013 18:12

I went from a 38C to a 32FF. I have two curvy Kate bras which are nice, but my boobs aren't as pert in the squished bras

AgathaF · 04/09/2013 18:46

Out of all the 'bigger' bras I've tried, I think the Cleo range by Panache are the nicest (narrower straps and some nice designs). I like some of the Curvy Kate too, but they seem to stretch on the back very quickly.

MsQueenie · 04/09/2013 19:22

I've gone from a 34B to a 30D!
It's changed my life Grin

Debenhams own brand bras come up very small in the band so in not surprised that you needed to size up. I'd consider trying balconette styles in sizes around 34F/F in other brands and 36E/FF in Debenhams.

Aquelven · 05/09/2013 04:20

So if some brands come up small in the band does that mean they use the old + 4 inches rule?
Which brands are reliably using the new sizing & which come up smaller, anyone know?

GrandstandingBlueTit · 05/09/2013 05:01

Out of curiosity - are all cup sizes the same, regardless of back size?

I mean, is an F an F, or does it size up or down proportionally, depending on the back size? Does a 38F hold an overall bigger boob than, say, a 30F?

I'm not sure I'm making any sense. Grin I guess I just wonder how when some people hang forward to do the round-the-boob measurement, some people's boobs will be quite full, whereas mine others will be like golf balls in socks.

I'm not in the UK, and it seems to be virtually impossible to find small back sizes with large cups here, so I have ordered online and am now waiting patiently for a 32F bra to wing its way to me.

I still cannot fathom how my lacklustre breasts are possibly going to fill an F cup, even with all the scooping in the world, but I am going to try. Grin

HazleNutt · 05/09/2013 07:01

No they don't use the +4, just come up slightly smaller - just like a size 12 can be different in different shops.

grandstanding you are right, F cup is very different on a 30 band than on a 38. 30F cup has the same volume as 32E or 34DD.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 05/09/2013 08:18

I've gone from a 38/36G/GG to a 34J.Thought it was hard to buy bras before.....

GrandstandingBlueTit · 05/09/2013 08:23

HazleNutt - thanks, I kind of hoped that was the case, and does seem more logical!

ExcuseTypos · 05/09/2013 08:48

I went from a 34DD to a 30FF.

Can't believe the difference it's made to the way I look. I'm only 5'2" and my boobs used to look just too big and a bit saggy. They now look very pert and my clothes fit so much better. I will be eternally grateful!

Panache bras are my favourite so far.

KosherBacon · 05/09/2013 08:52

I was using bravissimo before so was already wearing the right sizes, however I have realised that I can't wear panache/ cleo as the wires are all too wide and dig into my arm pits. I'm much better with Freya or Bravissimo own brand.

KatyaRachmanova · 05/09/2013 08:57

I have got a new 30f but I've got some back fat in the bit above the bra strap meets shoulder strap. And my boobs don't quite fill the top of the cup. (Although if they were perkier they would.)

Should I try a 30e or 32e? I can't go anywhere to try a load as I'm in Devon and there is nowhere, as far as I can tell, close enough.

FaddyPeony · 05/09/2013 10:20

I was 34A before and now in 30C. Still not sure if it's right as there's a little bit of excess flesh around the sides of my armpits - not sure if this is because the cup is still too small or if it's because I need to tone up in that area. Debenhams own brand in 30C is the best fit so far.

I cannot believe I was wearing a 34A! My mother is the same size as me and is in 34A. She got really narky when I suggested she had been wearing the wrong size forever because she loves her local boutique. I just gave up...

LyonsDemesne · 05/09/2013 10:54

sorrel you are absolutely right it was the DDD I got in VC.
I also picked up a lovely bra in asda believe it or not which is a 34 E and one of the rosie something or other from M&S in a 32F.
I think it is quite funny to see the assistants in M&S make faces as you ask for these sizes, they offered to measure me but I declined.
I am loving my boobs now - I need to spring clean all of the old ones.
I am being quite patient with my purchases as someone on one of the discussions here had said that due to breast migration your size could change again.
So I have gone from owning 20+ bras to 3 and i am having to sit on my hands. The only advantage I have is that I am not in the UK so I don't have the same choices here.

I've just received £150 worth of bras and not a single ones fits. Going to go back to old size that also doesn't fit. Sad I must have odd shaped boobs.
