Bra experiences post Mumsnet fitting guide!

Just thought I 'd enquire where everyone was at post Mumsnet fitting expertise!
I have went from a 34D to a 32F or a 34EE.
When I look at my old bras they just look ridiculously( sp) wrong.
I cannot understand how I could not have been aware of this !!
My clothes sit better , my boobs are pert.
I look like less of a sausage shape as I have no defined waist.
The only downsize is that I have gone from the pretty bra range to the bigger and not always gorgeous Bras!
I was recently in the states and Victoria Secreat had only 4 bras in an EE cup and they did not go any bigger than that!
So any suggestions for gorgeous larger bra stockists are welcome ! And guidance on the fit of the bras too !

For anyone who finds their 'correct' bra size causes back/side fat to pop out, try a balconette style as the sides are wider - this works for me.

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 13:47

SpottyTeacakes Which bras/sizes did you try (if you can bear to list them!)?

InMySpareTime · 05/09/2013 13:56

I went from a 38H to a 26GG (intervention plus weight loss)
Buying bras used to be fairly straightforward, now it's a waiting game as retailers slowly cotton onto the fact that a 26 back exists.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 14:13

On measuring I measure a 30E. I bought some cheapo M&S ones from eBay in a 28DD as I know I'm better in a 28 but though an E would be too big. I was bursting out of them so ordered (from Bra Stop):

30E
28F
28E
30DD

spread over 7 bras. The cups were all gigantic on me!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 14:17

Which bras where they? Make and style if possible.

Mintyfrog · 05/09/2013 14:22

I went from a 34 A to 32 C for two weeks then the other two a B - hormones seem to make a cup size difference Grin

So pleased and now I get why bra shopping was always a complete mare and so depressing!

Have tried to convince my DSis & DM to re measure but they can't seem to get their heads round it.

Did manage to get DM to at least go down a back size as she was in 34A like me but she is at least 2 dress sizes smaller than me.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 14:24

The Freya Ada and the rest curvy Kate: tease me, lottie, daily boost and princess. My panache Sophie's fit me well perhaps I should have stuck with the same brand?

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 14:33

Possibly yes. I don't get on with any Freya bras at all. Coincidently I have two friends (both 28H/HH) who recently tried the CK Lottie and Princess (mail order from Brastop too!) and they couldn't fill the cups wither even though the central gore wasn't lying flat. Obviously a style issue.

The Tease me is quite a wide shallow bra but I do know people with wide boobs that struggle to fill the tops of the cups. I usually have to size up a lot in the CK Showgirl range but I am slightly top heavy.

The Freya Ada is more of a plunge shape than a balconette, IMHO which is probably why you couldn't fill the top of the cup. Similarly, the CK Daily Boost is a moulded style which are notoriously hard to fit and cause gaping for many people.

Do you have wide and/or shallow breasts? Are they heavier on the top or the bottom? Have you tried any Cleos? The Lucy is good for shallow boobs.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 14:35

They're kind of pointy ConfusedGrin slightly more bottom heavy but not much

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 14:36

I haven't tried any cleos, which sizes should I try? It's a pain having to do it all online. Thank you Smile

LyonsDemesne · 05/09/2013 14:49

How do the curvy kates come up for size on balconnette bras in the tease me and also the princess style - anybody any ideas ?

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 14:51

Yep, they sound like they could be shallow. I'd try 28F and 30E still in a Cleo Juna, Lucy, Marcie. Also, look at the Tutti Rouge range as they are good for shallow shapes too. Are you anywhere near a Bravissimo?

It is a pain having to buy on-line due to the returns factor but tbh I do nearly all my bra shopping on-line these days. However, I've sussed my size in various styles/brands so it's a lot easier these days. Finding out what worked and what didn't, took time!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 14:52

The Tease me comes up bigger in the band than the Princess (two different ranges within the CK brand). The cups run small on the Tease Me as well.

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin · 05/09/2013 14:55

I've went from a 36C to a 30E!

Unbelievably supportive. I had no idea that my boobs didn't need to bounce around whenever i walked. Seriously, i can now jump up and down, skip, hop, trampoline, and the boobs don't budge. A weight has been lifted indeed.

So for me, very much a success.

My friend believes she is an E. But her chest is much larger than mine. I told her that I think she's bigger than an E but she's a non believer I'm afraid.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 14:56

Thanks sorrel Smile bravissimo is miles away from me unfortunately!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 15:23

Me too, alas

LyonsDemesne · 05/09/2013 16:22

Thanks sorrel - Didn't want to order on the internet and get into a back and forth posting game !

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2013 16:27

That's what I'm doing Hmm luckily it's free returns! Have ordered six various cleos. Fx Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 07/09/2013 20:45

I'm going near a Debenhams tomorrow, any suggestions?

SorrelForbes · 07/09/2013 21:18

Some Debenhams stock Cleos so you may be in luck. Their own Gorgeous range is worth a try too (it comes up very small in the band)

SpottyTeacakes · 07/09/2013 21:23

Thanks will hopefully get some to try on

SpottyTeacakes · 08/09/2013 13:37

Well they hardly had anything in my size so I tried two 30DD's and a 30E in the gorgeous range. Only one of them fitted and it was one of the DD's they were the same style but different colours HmmConfused it was also only £3. I know I'm measuring an E but they're just massive on me!

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2013 15:44

The Gorgeous range does come up very small in the back so the 30s you've bought are more like a 28 IYSWIM? I'd definitely keep trying bras in a 28F/E and a 30E in different brands as they differ so much from style to style and make to make.

Was one of the bras you tried black? There is something about the dyeing process that makes black bras come up smaller.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/09/2013 16:45

Nope the one that fits is pink but it doesn't really fit as its digging in under my arms. Still holding out hope for the cleos I ordered Smile

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2013 17:33

What style is the one you bought?
