I'm sure I have two of something in different colours but can't at all remember what it is. Going to bug me now!

libertychick · 09/09/2013 22:27

Dry I think it was grumpy who made the styling suggestion for your dress.

There is a lot of boring workwear around especially in the 'burbs. Poly trousers with VPL and Next tops...a lot of people are nervous about clothes and black trousers with a 'nice' top is an easy option that requires very little thought or expense. I think badly fitting clothes are the worst fashion 'crime' though - lots of people in my office in outfits that just don't fit properly - one of the best dressed women I work with gets almost everything from TKMaxx or charity shops but she gets a lot of her stuff tailored to fit her perfectly and always looks great.

QueenC followed your advise tonight - I told DD I would come in if she needed a drink etc but cuddles/kisses/chatting is over one she has been put to bed - about 2 mins of fake whinging and not a peep since then!!

Drywhiteplease · 09/09/2013 22:28

That's a shame Needsa

Funny I was just thinking about my American friend who would often buy two of the exact same thing if she liked it....had never met anyone who did this. A good idea I guess. Could get a bit pricey though. And yes Mig I do mourn favourite pieces when they die...I get v attached to some of my clothes..........

santamarianovella · 09/09/2013 22:28

yes one i can understand it if it happens once or twice but not every time! i would be furious! just tell her no!

shopafrolic · 09/09/2013 22:30

I've bought two of exactly the same colour item before now - if I truly love something, and especially if it is 'classic'. Latest was the M&S cream tee that Hopefully recommended. Good thing too as the first one has shrunk and lost colour massively in the wash.

Liberty maybe a lot of women just rather spend on their home/casual clothes and black basics are so easy aren't they?

mignonette · 09/09/2013 22:32

One You won't and don't look cheap. If you want to see what 'cheap' looks like, google the Ecclestone sisters who, as the saying goes, 'spend a lot of money to look that cheap' Grin...

You wear some g=cool sounding clothes and great colour ways. I buy loads of bits from New Look- a really great little store w/ bargains that have lasted me longer than the NAP stuff at times.

libertychick · 09/09/2013 22:32

Jeans and t-shirts are the only items where I buy two of the same - I like wearing different things though and get easily bored.

santamarianovella · 09/09/2013 22:36

dry my job didnt have a very formal strict dress code, the divide between workwear and going out or casual wear was not that great, but i guess not a lot of people have that option and some corporations still insist on wearing a suit,

libertychick · 09/09/2013 22:37

dry I used to be like that - I really resented spending money on clothes for work. Even now sometimes deciding to wear something to work means I have mentally downgraded it! But I decided that I spend a huge amount of time at work it's worth looking nice there. There is also huge pressure to conform and some working environments are not that inspiring - I split my time between two different council premises - one is basically glorified portacabins and people dress badly, the other is a sleek, modern, bright building and people dress much better there.

shopafrolic · 09/09/2013 22:38

I miss my workwear - the tailored stuff especially. I had some fab dresses and great suits

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 09/09/2013 22:39

if i bought two of each than we would be bankrupt,! just buy 2 pairs of underwear for every bra i buy.

libertychick · 09/09/2013 22:39

Some places have stupid dress codes as well - several organisations I have worked for had dress codes that banned jeans but IMO most women look better in dark denim of any brand than poly trousers.

santamarianovella · 09/09/2013 22:47

shop i miss it too Sadused to wear a lot of chloe ,with burberry trench and really chunky booties,

QueenCadbury · 09/09/2013 22:47

liberty is this scarf similar to the one you wanted?

libertychick · 09/09/2013 22:55

Oh thanks QueenC - it is v similiar, great size and colour...doesn't say what the fabric is though but i am guessing at the price it's poly or viscose and I'd ideally like something natural...I'll check it out though in store.

shopafrolic · 09/09/2013 22:57

Sounds wonderful Santa I could only stretch to Ted Baker and a bit of Hugo Boss, but with fab bags and shoes. My place was / is v corporate, tailored.
