Well done on the running mom. I am just about to head out. Was inspiring to hear about your running needsastrongone but what a shame about the injuries. I'm not looking to be particularly good at it but, like you, it fits into my life where, because of DH working long hours, most stuff doesn't. Just want it to get easier at some point!

Love that scarf too liberty. Saw it in ST Style mag a few weeks back and was very sad to see the price. Keeping an eye out for a cheaper version. Hadn't though of ebay.

MarshaBrady · 07/09/2013 08:42

Momin I was plumping for a mu reveal Wink so I'm happy with that Grin

Decam good to drop the wine on the dukan due to the carbs. Love that Carven coat.

I did dukan then switched to low carb and eat a load of veg and salad everyday. I like it as I'm not interested in calorie counting nor not eating and I feel good which is the main benefit for me. Plus exercise, am running now, and it's effective.

MarshaBrady · 07/09/2013 08:46

Hi Fedup how exciting re New York. Those flats look good, I like the first boots best. I think the mu is Oct.

shopafrolic · 07/09/2013 09:04

MU is Oct 12th

Blush oops, not been reading your posts properly!

Am about to go shopping with ds2 which will be painful. He is off to 6th form college on Monday where there is no uniform policy so wants my cash help getting new clothes. He's great company but rubbish shopping. Still, I may be able to sneak off for a little look see myself!

QueenCadbury · 07/09/2013 09:25

Morning. So much to catch up on and as usual I can't remember everything that I've just read Grin.

one I would certainly make a complaint about the dietician. It doesn't have to be an arsey complaint but just something to his manager about how he's made you feel. Making you feel bad is totally unacceptable and it might be that he's totally lacking in self awareness of how he makes people feel. Wrt 800 calories I would have thought that outs your body into starvation mode ie your body is not getting enough and therefore holds onto any fat you do have to protect itself iyswim. I'm not expert but I don't think 800 is enough for a grown woman at all.

grumpy and everyone else with older dd, it is such a worry isn't it. Mine is nearly 8 but has just started juniors so I wonder if she'll start to be exposed to more image awareness stuff. My niece who's 13 is overweight but luckily my sil finally seems to have become aware and is doing something about it. I grew up in an everything in moderation household so crisps/cholcate etc were never banned but we did lots of physical stuff-walking etc. I'm trying to do the same with my dc.

dry I'm the same with the never ending wardrobe. I know that I have enough clothes really but there's always something else that I really need.

Sleepwhenidie · 07/09/2013 09:26

Good morning everyone! I have just caught up with all your chat last night Smile. DH and I went to see Ain't Them Bodies Saints and it is beautifully shot (lots of vast Texas skies), great acting and would recommend it but be aware that it is slow - and Sad.

Grumpy I'm not qualified to advise about DD yet but it must be a worry, I think children's diets and how we teach them is a minefield, too strict and you risk them rebelling, too laid back and they don't self-restrict Confused. Added to which, the slightest comment can be taken to heart. Liberty's advice was great though. Are there no sports she seems to have an interest in? Could you take up something together Grin?

Dry regarding your DS bulking up - try and impress upon him that the huge muscles professionals sport are very rarely achieved solel through natural means. I know quite a lot about weight training and the biggest myth is that it makes you bulk up quickly. For women it is almost impossible to get bulky - I live in the free wrights section of the gym and lift the same weights as some of the (smaller) guys there, hopefully those who have seen me would agree I'm not exactly Arnie Smile. But it is actually really hard for guys as well too, it takes huge amounts of heavy training, coupled with serious amounts of protein being consumed and even then you can only get as big as you are genetically programmed to, after that you get into stuff like creatine and after that, steroids-definitely not recommended. I would just make sure DS is getting plenty of protein and focusing in strength and fitness, rather than size Smile.

One 800 calories Shock. new dietician needed, I agree!

MrsRadicchio · 07/09/2013 10:10

Sorry to just rush in and out, but One - you mentioned using Revlon's candy apple. I have one that I have barely used that you can have (not my colour). PM me if you are interested.

Thought I would leave you with a question:

Which item from your wardrobe are you most looking forward to wearing this A/W?

Need to ponder my reply. Happy weekends all.

OneLittleLady · 07/09/2013 11:33

Thanks for all your support ladies, I'm seeing a totally new dietitian this time so fingers crossed, she will be more sympathetic and have a better idea of how to work with me than the last guy.

I think I'm most looking forward to wearing my opaque tights again as sad as that sounds. I don't have fabulous legs so much prefer A/W when I can cover them up and not risk blinding people with just how white they really are!

santamarianovella · 07/09/2013 13:36

Hello lovelies !
dry, great shopping, the RB flats are very nice, why did you send it back?

Drywhiteplease · 07/09/2013 14:04

Santa and someone else who asked about the R and B pumps....although I loved them and thought I'd get a lot of work wear out of them they just didn't sit right on my foot......may have another try on in London, but for that price they need to be perfect.

MrsR good question. I just look forward to the latest thing I've bought really .....the Hobbs red skirt will cause a stir at work I'm sure. I love A/W stuff.....boots,coats, opaque tights, cosy knits and scarves ......just look forward to the whole lot.

santamarianovella · 07/09/2013 14:05

mignonette · 07/09/2013 14:40

One Your Dietician is an ignorant asshole if he believes your medication has zero influence upon your metabolism. Ask for a referral to somebody else whenever you encounter this in the future. And tell them to read up on their pharmacology.

TBH I tend to get a lot of clients referred to the MH physio's (even though cuts have led to many losing their jobs in MH) because the best way to counter the effects of drugs like Olanzapine, Quetiapine, Lithium etc is to increase muscle mass which raises your metabolic rate. Muscles burn more fuel than other tissues. I get my clients playing badminton, brisk walking even riding. Some swim too.

Mom Thanks for the tights tips. i am going to go on a tights binge later on. Wished I had worn some (or trousers) this morning when i took dog out for a run. I got dragged through gorse, nettles and brambles because there's nothing more a Springer likes than fresh rabbit-smell of a morning. My legs are THE most horrendous mass of scratches. i didn't expect the Gorse to be so overgrown. Guess forestry management has been hit by budget cuts too Sad. Yes, Mom Clarks do these super current versions of their desert boots if you keep an eye out. I adore my calf hair ones.

Am adoring Jaeger this season. They have so got it right. Also like the editorial in Vogue this month (notAlexa!) where they have styled a sequinned evening slip dress w/ a plaid lumberjack shirt and Converse on page 109. Takes me back to the Giselle Bundchen editorial when she wore a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt w/ droopy long dress, ratty hair and Converse. Such a change for her to not be tanned tits n' ass.

Yes Marsha The cobalt sweater Meryl/Devil Wears Prada ad lib speech is uber-true and iconic. I always recall it too when it seems like the fashion press is pushing something a little too much. There's a lovely little piece about Isabella Blow and the impending tribute exhibition of her clothing on P245 in Vogue. The shoot for the photo's was styled by Amanda Harlech in the grounds of Doddington Hall and she describes hearing the birds "chattering on the water; those trills and quacks and honks- that's just like Isabella's voice." I found that very touching.

I am very taken w/ this as it reminds me of these hats and jackets i used to buy on Portobello which were made from college scarfs. This is good too. Next have a sweet little A line check skirt here for only £22 which I might well order. The photo doesn't show it very well but Next have a five page promotional ad in Vogue with a better photograph.

Trying to find a photo of the gorgeous Prada dress on page 110 of vogue-the embellished tweed inset one at about 3 grand!

MarshaBrady · 07/09/2013 14:52

santa how could you forget to mention such a truly scrumptious bag Grin. Well done mr santa.

Have spent the day decluttering the dc rooms as granny here to do childcare. Have thrown away all sorts of plastic crap. Very therapeutic!
