Don't worry, it was a busy thread, even for MNV! here it is. Lovely colour...

libertychick · 26/08/2013 20:38

Sleep I really pondered your high street question! What makes it difficult is having to cover workwear as well. I think I'd go for J Crew at high end and H&M at low end...but this could change Wink

Shop you need to find someone to knit that jumper for you! A good knitter could definitely copy the Gucci you originally wanted - have you got a local John Lewis? The staff in their haberdashery depts are great and could possibly recommend someone or do it themselves. The women in the haberdashery in Liberty are excellent and the couple I have chatted to are very keen knitters who once again could recommend or even do it for you. I would estimate that decent yarn for a jumper like that would cost around £70 - I have no idea what someone would charge to do it.

shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 20:41

Grin Foxy how are you doing?

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 20:43

That's a lovely colour Sleep, great neck too, but I want the knit to be more ribbed Blush . Need to take a closer look at Vince though as that's a few pieces I've liked now.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 20:44

That's a good call Liberty

Sleep Temperley dress and IRO jacket are great Smile well done on the August restraint Wink

QueenCadbury · 26/08/2013 20:46

marsha you are fab at picking clothes for other people.

one yay, I look forward to meeting you.

mig I did consider buying the larger size and getting it taken in but I know nothing of dressmaking so not sure whether it's possible.

mrsR the more I think about it, the more I want a jumpsuit. However I really cannot justify the price tag of the dvf as it's over 300. I'm hoping that something in a more realistic price band will turn up.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 20:49

Glad you like the links! I was feeling a bit bad about dumping my entire 'looks I like board' on the thread. Well not quite the entire board.

Vince do lots of jumpers like that Shop worth having a look.

Sleep haha it went something like this.
Why are you going on the Mac?
I need to do something.
What?
Nothing
What?
It's important. For my friends! Ten minutes! So I need it to be quiet.

My high end High St is J Crew / Maje and Sandro. My low end is oh blimey, I want to say outnet clearance sales. But will go with & Other Stories. Or is that mid?

OneLittleLady · 26/08/2013 20:53

MrsR I love those looks and I love that skirt.

Sorry I'm slow tonight ladies, I think I've picked up a bug somewhere this past week and it's wiping me out. I went to bed at half nine last night, slept til nine this morning and have had five hours worth of naps since then! Hopefully I'll feel more on the ball tomorrow.

I look forward to meeting you too QueenC Smile

Umlauf · 26/08/2013 20:59

Evening! Thanks for the people tree skirt link mrsR I love the print but its £10 delivery to Spain (grr) so I'm umming and ahhing. It could be a gem but it could be really thin fabric (I need a lot of hoicking in at the best of times never mind post cb!). Anyone seen it in the flesh? On another thread remus recommended this whistles one and Atterley Rd delivers intrenationally for free! Other options are still the me&em one or the Alexander wang one which are ££ and I don't know how long I'll stay one size for, hoping for some hip shrinkage when I'm allowed back to the gym...

shop I would definitely recommend having things copied. My SIL is Thai and the haberdasheries there are excellent, whenever she goes I give her a couple of my best dresses and she has them copied in another fabric or colour for me. I have a Vivienne Westwood bustle dress which is so flattering in about 8 different versions now!

Loving the designer talk, I'm still learning so no idea who I would be, but if I had to choose one high street it would be whistles (fits without fail) or all saints. I'm into Balenciaga ATM as I live in his home town and there is a fab museum with hundreds of pieces including royal wedding dresses and they are divine. I'm pushing for a city bag as a push present/Xmas, and DH hasn't said no outright...!

shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:00

this is good

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 21:02

I loved this first time round.

foxysocks · 26/08/2013 21:06

Hey shop! And everyone else.

Have missed tons so just diving in this end of the thread. I am shattered and aching, but very happy. I adore my teacher and all my friends from the world over have gathered in London so it's fun! No shopping though, too trashed from practice.

i still really want a dress like that whistles one i tried. But I think I can do better for £100. Must be knee length or just above, short sleeves, cocoon ish shape ideally with pockets. Loved the pockets. Cotton or at least good cotton content. Print or plain in navy or khaki as main colours. His anyone seen ANYTHING that fits the bill?

This is the whistles one liked but was too big and mainly viscose

OneLittleLady · 26/08/2013 21:07

I love both those jumpers shop and marsha I struggle with jumpers as they are either cut too short so land on my widest point or they are so long they swamp me in material. I admire from afar and stick to cardigans these days Grin

shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:07

Umlauf I think Hopefully has that Whistles skirt and has recommended it in the past.......I wish I had a SIL who could knit!

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:08

Glad it's going well Foxy you sound super happy. Have you tried Cos?

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 26/08/2013 21:09

Hmm, foxy I swear I saw something similar enough that I thought it was the same dress on the HoF website. It may have been sale stock though but might be worth a look, memory tells me it wasn't a whistles dress I saw but it was definitely very similar.

foxysocks · 26/08/2013 21:09

No I haven't, but good call! Where is the nearest to kings x- is it cogent garden?

foxysocks · 26/08/2013 21:11

Cogent ffs. Covent!

Will look at hof, thanks OLL.

shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:15

Yup. There's a store at Covent Garden. Picadilly Line. Come out of tube, turn left, past UGG store, keep going and it's on the right from memory?

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:15

Or stocked in Selfridges.....

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:17

Long Acre, it's in Long Acre

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/08/2013 21:17

On not in

OP posts:
Umlauf · 26/08/2013 21:18

I've just found this similar by Malene Birger one and this completly different chinti & Parker one... I think it's between the whistles and the Malene Birger... Not sure if the Malene Birger is a bit too eveningy. Also trying to work out if rushing adds bulk or hides sins!

foxysocks · 26/08/2013 21:18

I think cov garden will be easier. Might go tomorrow after practice, there are lots of contenders on their website but I find it tricky to buy cos online. Good call, shop, thank you!! Am excited for tomorrow now.
