Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

No and I thought they would...and I am pretty sensitive to itchy wool, have had to buy cashmere hats because wool drives me crazy.

Doearwigsmakechutney · 21/10/2013 22:36

QoW - the teal trousers (and the chocolate ones) were both lovely, but not for me. I felt that the fabric made my thighs look too big (though suspect that was excessive self-consciousness on my part).

I'm keen to get something in heliotrope - at the moment I've just got a scarf.

Thanks to whoever recommended dying clothes. I had a pale grey/blue silk phase eight top, which is now a gorgeous light olive green. Very happy!

This belt is great - I've got it in medium and wear it low on my waist, as I'm short waisted. I wore it with a cashmere round neck top and pencil skirt (Jaegar via Oxfam) and one of my colleagues said that I looked very Mad Men. Definitely an outfit to wear again!

conquita · 21/10/2013 23:16

I too am an autumn and I ordered the charcoal Hush harem pants! I pray they will not accentuate my hefty thighs too much though...am loving this thread by the way!

Snowlike · 21/10/2013 23:45

I think the harems are sympathetic to my relatively hefty thighs.

GremlinsdidIt · 22/10/2013 08:21

After posting a picture on my profile some lovely S&B ladies suggested I'm a soft autumn. This is all rather new to me and I wondered about black. Is it a definite no no? I can wear it and think I look okay. However I know that navy, olive, marl grey and rose pinks suit me which I believe are the soft autumn colours?!

Hopefully · 22/10/2013 09:07

I have big thighs (saddlebags) and harems are good on me.

Charity it's for me! Due in April, need more of everything really work - work and casual clothes.

QoW I bought last season's version of that dress and although I really liked it it wasn't right for my shape, so it went back. Lovely wool quality though.

Horrible weather today, really grim. Luckily I have virtually no reason to go outside apart from a quick post office dash on the way to DS1's parents evening.

Hopefully · 22/10/2013 09:09

Gremlin you've got a mix of autumn and summer colours on your list, but I've already posted my tuppence-worth on your thread (I am the broken record on colour analysis on here). If you fancy picking an autumn palette and joining us though, you're v welcome Grin

MelanieCheeks · 22/10/2013 09:52

Wearing an orange marl skirt that I got in M&S sale recently. The material's quite light - I guess its from the summer range. But I think it works Ok with brown opaques and knee high boots. On the top I'm wearing a ginger 3/4 sleeve T and a coral/gold statement necklace.

charitygirl · 22/10/2013 09:58

Congratulations hopefully - will look for mat clothes in earnest now! Makes me feel rather broody though - we were on the Sept 08 thread (unless I'm going mad) and so our DS1s must be close in age (parents evening here tonight too). I am eternally undecided on a third.

Right, went to H&M this morn with my 25% off voucher from loathsome Grazia. Will be back later to update on purchases - there's a lot of nice autumn stuff in.

Hopefully · 22/10/2013 10:07

Charity yes we were! We are having major issues with DS1's school, looks like we will be moving house and school later this year or early 2014 (because having a baby isn't stressful enough all by itself). Will be interested to discover whether they actually know who he is when I go for parents evening later - he seems utterly under the radar when I have been in to help with reading etc.

Hopefully · 22/10/2013 10:08

ps we went back and forth on a third for ages, and eventually decided we'd never regret doing it, but we might regret not doing it, iykwim.

charitygirl · 22/10/2013 12:08

Yes, I always thought I would be a v easy going parent re:schools, but I'd say so far I have some little thing I want to complain about/question every week. Saving my firepower for real problems so far! And his teachers do seem great.

Very important that you see if they have established a baseline for your DS if he's to make progress - you'll soon know if he's under their radar! Best tack is probably to say very little yourself - see where the gaps in their knowledge of him are. Good luck!

Eek to moving house - I suppose you have added consideration of needing somewhere with a suitable 'studio' for work too.

AutumnLeafMyArse · 22/10/2013 14:28

Ooh, only just caught up with this thread since my last post and wanted to say congratulations to Hopefully.

Hopefully/Charitygirl it's my parents evening in a few weeks and I can already feel my blood pressure rising. It's been one of the major factors in us deciding to move house too. Hopefully where are you moving (I'm in Suffolk at the moment, possibly going to Lincolnshire) I'd love you to do my style day Grin

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 22/10/2013 15:38

Hello ladies.

The ladies on here think I'm probably a soft autumn... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1882834-Diagnose-my-colours-Pic-included

Anyway, based on that and my pic on the thread,do you think I could pull off this coat?If not there's a mid grey, not as gorgeous though!

Also, what colours do I put with it for boots, scarf, bag etc?I need to make sure it looks nice and don't want to look like a rainbow on the school run!!!

Congratulations hopefully. I hope some of the links were useful.

Trip trap, I can't do your link on my phone.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 22/10/2013 17:37

Coat is lovely trip trap, I would wear brown with it.

MillyRules · 22/10/2013 20:30

Gremlin I cant see your photo on your profile....it says its not public....Smile

MillyRules · 22/10/2013 20:33

How exciting Hopefully I uhhhmmmddd and arrrrrggggdddd about having a third. Never did in the end but looking back.......glad I only had the two....boy and a girl. You will have to post up some pics on your blog of you with "bump" so we can see. Smile

onlysettleforbutterflies · 22/10/2013 20:41

I got told I looked like an autumn oak tree today, I think it was meant as a compliment Grin. I was wearing brown, mustard and rust.

charitygirl · 22/10/2013 21:16

Brown, mustard and rust - lovely! I was in teal, crocodile and purple - no trees for me to today.

So I didn't get the H&M Aztec cardigan above though it is nice. Thank god I did the style day - really helped me to see that while they are alluring, oversized knits just look all wrong on me. It's the ingenue in my natural!

Instead I bought a very neat, short fitted jacket (obv not on website grrr) in, um, navy. It is a bright navy but I'm not convinced its really a warm colour. But it doesn't look bad with my swatches, and in this a/W of oversized bikers and cocoon coats I need to get my nipped in waist numbers where I can.

Also got an orange dress for the weekends - will post then look for link. Unsurprisingly H&M have got lots in autumn colours at the moment.

charitygirl · 22/10/2013 21:19

Tsk - dress not online either!
And I didn't see these cashmere jumpers in store. Harrumph.

charitygirl · 22/10/2013 21:20

Doh! Here are jumpers

onlysettleforbutterflies · 22/10/2013 21:23

I saw that cardigan today charity, lovely colours. Your new jacket sounds perfect. Think I could do with a style day, I have been a size 8 all my life but now find myself more of a 12/14, I'm tall so carry it ok and wouldn't say I am unhappy with my new shape, but I'm really struggling to dress it. Having to think more about what flatters and hides now, struggling to find a new look that works.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 22/10/2013 21:25

Just reread what I put and just want to clarify I know my new size isn't big, its just different to what I am used to!

evelynj · 22/10/2013 22:29
