Re Mig's jean's question - indigo or black slim cut, high rise straight leg for me or skinny but not clingy on the ankle - risk of looking like I have carrot legs....boyfriend on 'fat' days but they do me no favours really.

santamarianovella · 19/08/2013 22:35

novice our current house needed alot of work, but we don't regret it,as its value has increased immensely,so if like us you plan to sell, then it can be a good choice, depending on how popular the house location is.

grumpy I re read your post,it does sound very glam,is it black tie?

marsha I have no idea what she is wearing but if anyone can make it work it has to be youGrin

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2013 22:37

Thanks Liberty and everyone! I may try a kilt then! Thanks Grin

shopafrolic · 19/08/2013 22:41

The house needs totally redecorating, recarpeting and a couple of structural things eg the dcs have a massive playroom now and this one is smaller. Then there are non essential things, like it has a massive dressing room, but my current one is nicer. My Smallbone kitchen is nicer than their tired looking one. Conservatively I would estimate £250k to do it up. Dh reckons double though I think he's exaggerating. :( for the amount of money they're asking I guess I expected it to be gorgeous on the inside without too much to spend.

The charity thing is v frustrating. So I want to deliver reading books to the school next month, and the estimate is £500 for the books and an extra 50% for delivery, planning and monitoring. Hmm There is an extra £3k on the cost of rebuilding the primary school block for the same - monitoring and oversight.Hmm I am biting my tongue. We're supposed to start building in November so I need to decide whether to go it alone. I could do so much more with the £3k than hand it over to for oversight. Sigh.

Turquoiseblue · 19/08/2013 23:12

jean queen here - can t admit how many pairs I have, fave - at the moment vintage wash j brands cigarette leg and olive nobody cult skinnies, and mih new yorkers in indigo (you see now why i cant even start to say how many pairs lurk in the wardrobe .. in my defense i have about 3 skirts, and 5 dresses ... but jeans and tops and jackets loaded!)
Tartan - not sure i can go back there - reminds me of school discos, butt hey as my next question will prove I m quite a slow burner when it comes to trends!

For those of you looking to do a subtle snakeskin there are nice]]
mignonette do you think you've damaged SI joint / coccyx? Pelvis pain can be horrendous, Might be worth a trip to a good physio and some acupuncture to sort it out.

santamarianovella · 19/08/2013 23:19

novice that sounds like a lot of money and work, and i think i agree with your dh, hidden costs always emerge, with renovations on a big scale sometimes triple the initial estimated first price.
we did spend a fortune doing our house,as we knew that a house in this area, cost way more than what we paid for,but DH was confident in his descsion as its a popular area, specially with foreign buyers.
Is the house you are after in London?

libertychick · 19/08/2013 23:40

novice I have pm'd you on the charity stuff...

AmberNectarine · 20/08/2013 07:30

foxysocks · 20/08/2013 07:37

shopafrolic · 20/08/2013 07:51

Will text you so you have mine too shop. Can't wait! X

Boots dispatched, woooooooo! Will need to return FP pair as didn't manage to cancel order before they sent them but that's a minor hassle I can live with Grin

Topazandpearl · 20/08/2013 08:07

Well done on the boots Foxy!

I don't see myself wearing tartan - never mind grunge, I am bold enough to remember the Bay City Rollers!

Shame the house was disappointing novice, I'm sure you will make the right decision.

foxysocks · 20/08/2013 08:13

I would love a tartan miniskirt, maybe zippered like the one shop pinned yday

mignonette · 20/08/2013 08:21

Good Morning all,

Spent a few minutes catching up on the thread and the jeans chat. Indigo definitely seems the popular choice. I am a dark dark indigo but I have always loved the good old Levis 501. I also wear super soft J Brand cigarettes in super dark and black. I have an ancient pair of Wrangler gentle boot cut too that await their triumphant return.

Novice sorry to read of your frustrating progress with the charity. Always horrid to hand over money for reasons like that.

Today I am wearing this shell top with dark grey Helmut Lang straight leg pants (old) and my Silver Edelman block heel sandals. I think it is going to be hot later so am risking no jacket. I had to get DH to buckle my sandals as bending forward and over is very painful. Will speak to the Psych at work and get him to Px me a muscle relaxant. It is definitely a pulled muscle/trapped nerve in my left pelvis, right over my hipbone.

Have a good day everyone. X

Drywhiteplease · 20/08/2013 08:25
