For sure Foxy it's all pretty loose. Love a mu, looking forward to it.

Am impressed by the tree surgeon in our garden atm. He's really high. A great big branch got so heavy it cracked and fell onto the back fence.

I've decided skirt too rather than shoes, helps to link here. Was rather off-piste and no wine was consumed.

Novice how do you feel about the house today?

AmberNectarine · 20/08/2013 09:31

Aww shame, I loved those shoes.

Just dropped car off for MOT and a lady asked me if I was opening up! Am wearing fitted shirt and VW pencil skirt Confused

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2013 09:34

Hmm am on fence again! .

Haha Amber it must be that sexy garage chic look, you know the one we all missed Grin.

shopafrolic · 20/08/2013 09:35

She's obvs watched the Uptown Girl video too many times Amber Grin

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 20/08/2013 09:37

Oh I just realised why people find tree surgeons sexy. Up a tree and only a rope. Haha.

shopafrolic · 20/08/2013 09:47

And don't forget that they're so high up you can't see their faces so you suddenly think they must look like Brad Pitt.

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 20/08/2013 09:50

Marsha is he wearing a checked shirt?Wink
Amber Grin....garage chic!!!!

mignonette · 20/08/2013 09:50

Nothing like watching a man working Wink.....Preferably with his sleeves rolled up.

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2013 09:51

Haha yeh I have terrible eyesight anyway. Everyone looks like Brad Pitt.

Novelty has worn off now. Massive thud of branch, so heavy.

shopafrolic · 20/08/2013 09:52

Think of the splinters Shock

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 20/08/2013 09:53

Lol Dry hang on... no a/w looks Grin even liked the smell of the cigarettes wta? Bizarre. Clearly the most excitement I've had all week.

mignonette · 20/08/2013 09:54

I find an inbuilt myopia soft focus is the best way to go through life anyway Marsha.

MrsRadicchio · 20/08/2013 09:54

I can really imagine you in pirate boots, Marsha, what a pain they didn't last.

Love all the tartan pins but I too am on the fence. I actually have a tartan pleated skirt I might wear in the manner of this. Mine is red though.

Shame about the Gap shoes selling out. I will be passing a Gap today so will have a look, don't hold out much hope though. I have bought a pair of these as an alternative. They do them in leopard too (but £) but not in blue.

In the manner of QueenC I thought I would summarise Red megazine's advice for what to buy for AW:
-a pink coat
-a poplin shirt (put your silk shirts away)
-a mid heel shoe (I still love these JV)
-sporty flats
-oversized clutch
and an expensive jumper / sweatshirt.

Great news that you got the boots Foxy I love that you got them almost half price but can imagine it was a tense moment when you were buying them, hoping they wouldn't sell out! I can feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about it.

Thanks for the heads up on the 20% m&s (sorry can't remember who it was - Topaz? Turq?) I have bought these monk

Shame about the house Novice. However house prices in London are rising massively so you would probably recoup what you spend. It sounds like you don't love it anymore though, so may not be worth the move and upheaval.

Thanks for organising table for Sat Shop.

Jeanswise I like boyfriend styles at mo, but think indigo straightleg / flared suits me best.

Mig I hope you feel better soon.

Drywhiteplease · 20/08/2013 09:56

Marsha I quite like the tartan heels (24hrs late I know!) ..... I'd love a slipper in that tartan

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2013 10:09

Thanks Dry I like the idea of a slipper too.

MrsR great list, love the JV. And the skirt would look fab on you.

I remember seeing the boots in Liberty. So clean and soft like a light was shining on them (perhaps it was). They had such thin soles and were pale suede so hard to wear in the park etc. and 8 straps per boot you really had to commit to putting them on.

I have some MJ boots half price from Liberty that I nearly got rid of- so high and black. But probably back in now, so glad I kept them.

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2013 10:15

And Mig I agree. I wear glasses for driving and watching movies otherwise the haze is nice. I tried contacts once too much sharp focus. I remember seeing for first time stars where more pinpoint than night twinkly splodge.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/08/2013 10:24

Sorry I left you with a challenge last night and then seemed to disappear. I didn't think my post had gone through because laptop (fresh back from repair) starting doing an update and I lost patience and abandoned ship.

Thanks for the suggestions. Had a bit of a think myself and would lean towards a plummy shade because I like it and lack of daylight could lend itself to a nice deep jewelled colour. I also have an unhealthy obsession with the 1920s and it's become a bit of a family joke that I will attend every wedding looking like a cast member from The House Of Elliott! I may be better off waiting until a bit later in the season and see what materialises, although I will be giving a wiiiiide berth to typical 'partywear' - no sparkles! I do have a lovely sequinned skirt from Zara in muted golds from last summer, but I wore that to BIL's wedding last year. Also, that was an evening wedding in October - had it been December it would have felt too clichéd.

This one is in a Georgian Mansion just outside London and looks very grand. It is in the afternoon, but at that time of year, it will be 'dusky'. Googled the venue - I think it will be a beautiful event.

LinusDKD · 20/08/2013 10:43

Oh, Louise Lombard in the House of Elliott was one of my first girl crushes. Her hair and make-up were soo pretty and the clothes she wore as well.

I haven't seen her in anything else ever since, I wonder if she still acts.

mig I'm a recent convert to skinnies and I prefer indigo or very dark washes. But my favourite pair is definitely the Jimmies shop has as well but mine are in a very dark colour.

Will try and catch up later.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/08/2013 10:54

Linus she looks <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130603193929/csi/images/8/83/Louise_Lombard.jpg&imgrefurl=csi.wikia.com/wiki/Louise_Lombard&h=275&w=183&sz=1&tbnid=1RTZAIIbMBC_HM:&tbnh=186&tbnw=123&zoom=1&usg=__MIQV91eo6KLRCgoBzGcuuhpNseo=&docid=OVT6-NsajXyUyM&itg=1&sa=X&ei=VjwTUsnAH8qU0AXwjoGgDw&ved=0CIYBEPwdMAo" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">so different now! A real California girl - she was in CSI and, I think, now lives in the US. She was my ideal - I've spent a lifetime trying to recreate that look!

libertychick · 20/08/2013 10:54

Foxy - I have pm'd you....

QueenCadbury · 20/08/2013 11:12

Omg grumpy what has she done to herself? I used to love house of Elliot and every so often find re-runs of it on random cable channels. I love the 20s clothes too.

I don't think I've ever owned anything in tartan (except pjs) and will join mrsR in sitting on the fence with it. Love the skirt in that pin though as it's not typical tartan.

Glorious weather here today and we're just having a bit of chill out time as we're all knackered!

QueenCadbury · 20/08/2013 11:16

I've been browsing and found this oasis skirt. It's fairly similar to the ted baker pattern but obv much cheaper. Looks quite short though!

QueenCadbury · 20/08/2013 11:18

For dry although you may have posted it already...

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/08/2013 11:40

tulle skirt for one. I know the colour is wrong for you, but the length is so pretty.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 20/08/2013 11:42

Thanks to Queen's Oasis link, I've found this object of lust
