hello all Smile

he's not back until this evening. another rant - he has started being REALLY vague about the times he leaves and gets home. I threw money at the problem and took DC out for brunch this morning. have also written massive list of household jobs I need him to do/input on and left it in his study. HA.

I hope biker boot are in, i am about to buy some Grin. the choo bikers are almost all gone on NaP which suggest they are in high demand as it's barely the middle of august!

foxysocks · 17/08/2013 13:28

I really love this VW skirt

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2013 13:59

Lovely skirt Foxy.
What do you wear on your feet with skirts ...anyone? I got these last year, are they a bit meh or just work appropriate? Biker boots? Pistols I guess. Tried these but not sure.

mignonette · 17/08/2013 14:10

Novice Hope you get your house. It is meant to be...

Dry The riding style boots are more classic, the second funkier. I wear all sorts with mine. I think the longer length skirts about this year look good with fairly' ladylike' shoes-classic stiletto's, block heel pumps, high heeled pumps. Brogues look good too especially if you wear interesting tights in different knits and colours. I would wear the higher leg boots with a jewel colour tight and an A line on the knee skirt or shorter. I wouldn't wear them with a longer skirt. Longer skirts can look good with shoe boots. Thigh boots are very fashionable this Winter-UK Vogue has an article on them (Sarah Harris writes it). I am a bit meh about thigh boots on me-very hard to avoid the hooker look IRL.

I have worn Biker boots with all kinds of skirts. They especially look good with chunky tweedy Winter skirts and bright/deep tights.

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2013 14:41

I like these
Mig thanks for the advice. I sometimes find there's a fine line between frumpy/classic and fashionable/ fashion victim. For work I need flats really Sad perhaps a small block heel shoe. I work with women who are probably only 6/7 yrs older than me but dress a lot older.
I read somewhere that you should always have a bit of leg (aye up!) showing between the hem of your skirt and the top of your boot other wise it all looks a bit Per Una Shock
I'm trying to get into a lot more colour blocking this autumn and a lot less black.

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2013 14:42

Oh and thigh boots make me look as if I'm auditioning for the panto!Grin

mignonette · 17/08/2013 14:52

I like block heels and those pumps with a pointed toe and block heels- the Belle De Jour pumps by Roger Vivier look great worn with a good pair of tights and knee length or shorter skirt.

Yes I like that flash of leg which is where the bright woolly tights come in. That flash of burgundy, forest green, ochre yellow, purple cream, pink, even patterned keeps the youth in the look. I love, really love woolly tights and cannot wait to get back into them. I have so many different colours and styles including some multi grey striped ones by Elle.

God yes, all that Pantomime thigh slapping-Very Puss In Boots.

OneLittleLady · 17/08/2013 14:56

foxy I LOVE that skirt, I love tartan anyway but couple with VW, it sends me into a drool frenzy Grin

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2013 14:57

I have a pair of flat black leather OTK boots which I like to wear with a black leather midi skirt and a white shirt. Sort of Miss Whiplash meets Librarian.

foxysocks · 17/08/2013 15:08

I have some really old miu miu OTK boots but the heel is a bit high for me. they've only been worn a couple of times but maybe i'll try again this AW. they were a bargain in the NaP sale about seven years ago, but not so much of a bargain sitting in my wardrobe....

i can't spend £200 on a skirt. will hold off and hope it appears on the outnet or yoox.

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2013 15:17

I can't do OTK boots. Love the VW skirt.

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2013 15:21

Dry I wear ballet flats usually. I prefer the lace up ones you linked. I'd also do ankle boot but more dicker style than pistol.

Linus the thing I've realised is that it's ok to get rid of stuff, it can feel good just to get rid of stuff.

Novice exciting!

foxysocks · 17/08/2013 15:21

I wonder what I'd get for the boots if I sold them. have only worn about twice. I was not as shopping savvy back then.

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2013 15:24

I should also say I think they can look great on some, but not me.

Foxy could be good, especially if you put from Net a Porter.

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2013 15:25

You never know they might fund the VW skirt, well get closer anyway...

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2013 15:30

Liberty the silk Lagerfeld is on my list too now. It's dangerous sometimes doing an imaginary shop, people saying ooh nice, it turns into a real shop Grin.

mignonette · 17/08/2013 15:37

Foxy What size are your boots? Do you have a picture? They will sell well with the NAP origin.

Am still mooning over that Miu Miu coat. I have lost my heart to it but there is no way on earth I will pay that even with some of DH's tax rebate Grin....I doubt it'll be on sale as I suspect it is very popular.

BrandyAlexander · 17/08/2013 15:38

The puss in boots comment made me snort.Grin

I saw my couple crush today. Just the woman. So stylish. Simple black vest top and skinnies. Sigh.

So, I am supposed to be resting but have secretly been upstairs crunching numbers on the house.Blush

foxysocks · 17/08/2013 15:42

they are a 5/38, mig. I will try to find a pic or take one later for my pinboard.

mignonette · 17/08/2013 15:44

Too small for me sadlySad. Still good to see them though.

Get some rest Novice...

BrandyAlexander · 17/08/2013 15:56

I know! I know! Blush By the way has anyone seen anything like this?

mignonette · 17/08/2013 16:00

Will get looking. I remember these collars were popular around 2005 so they must have cycled back again. Fashion ever decreasing circles.

libertychick · 17/08/2013 16:01

MrsR these are the Me&Em trousers. They don't seem to go on sale. They bag at the knees after 2 wears but wash really well so it doesn't bother me. They really are as comfortable as trackpants! I almost smirk when I am wearing them at work Smile

Have just dyed my 'mistake' off white Iris and Ink silk top 'flamingo pink' - it's looking good flapping around on the clothes line.

DD still naps thankfully - often too well - she likes her bed - off now for the thankless job of waking her up.

libertychick · 17/08/2013 16:01

Oh and fingers crossed for the house novice - exciting!

libertychick · 17/08/2013 16:27

So waking up DD

Me: come on DD, get up, you can watch Peppa
DD (2.7 with eyes tightly closed and curled in a ball in corner of cot) Go away Mummy, I'm very busy
Me: What are you busy doing DD?
DD: I'm busy keeping blankie warm....

15 mins later she deigns to rise....
