OP posts:

Here is my spend on either of these two outfits which would be my winter party outfits-

Either this Acne dress with these Sophia Webster sandals or these Miu Miu pumps.

Or this party dress with these Jimmy choo heels and this bag by McQueen which would also go with outfit one above.

With the £250-300 left over I would buy this Miu Miu clutch but not sure whether it would go with outfit one. Another bag I like is this and I'd have enough change to buy it I think to use for day wear.

Or I could go mad with this coat at £1500 and go round with a begging bowl stealing asking for your spare change. I cannot say just how much I have fell in love with this coat. I love it, love it, love it.

libertychick · 16/08/2013 22:31

Great outfits Mig That Miu Miu coat is amazing!!

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 22:40

Remind me, on the nasty bag thread, was there a poster called missbopeep saying that spending on bags was mad? Because she's just said, on a groomed thread, that wearing "simple pearls" or " a diamond solitaire pendant" is chic ( agree) but how is it ok, to spend on those items and not on a bag? Or should I just get over the nasty bag thread....still think they were vile to Novice and amber.
I could be wrong and apologise to bopeep if I am.

BrandyAlexander · 16/08/2013 22:48

Hello everyone! I can barely move as have eaten so much! Thanks to Topaz's DD, for One (you sound lovely), Shop for surviving the in laws, Mig for bad day, Foxy for the dropped nap and Dry for the ring!

Now, if you're going to chat bling, can you sound the klaxon a bit louder so I drop rl and come hurrying on here!GrinI need to start laying the crumbs for dh for Xmas you know!Wink

Ps Dry, oh the bag thread was totally full of very odd people. Ignore, ignore! I have a Tiffany's diamond solitaire so maybe I should pop over and say helloWink

libertychick · 16/08/2013 22:52

Let it go Dry {smile] . I don't take anything people say on MN too seriously - people adopt contradictory views all the time!

Now I have drunk quite a lot of wine so am debating some toast before bed....hmmmmm toast.....

libertychick · 16/08/2013 22:55

Toast on!!! M&S fruit bread Blush

you haven't been here much - busy week?

BrandyAlexander · 16/08/2013 22:56

Ooh meant to say, I wore the new pink lk bennett ariella with the Atwoods this evening. Met dh st the restaurant and when he saw the shoes he had a grin from ear to ear. Bless. Grin The dress (even slightly loose) was so worth £60 (from £185)!

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 22:57

You are right liberty .hate double standards...like people constant and easy to read, I'm a simple soul!Grin with expensive taste
novice we need a code word to alert you!
Off to bed....just keeping my ring on, just for tonight.

mignonette · 16/08/2013 23:01

Dry That was why I went piling over to that thread in the manner of a thug older sister. You just know that half the time people say stuff just to wind others up.

Of course a diamond is so much more useful in every day life than a leather tote or shoulder bag...

Waves at Novice. I posted a link to an amazing jewel blog/site earlier up thread. You might already know it but it has loads of estate jewels and iconic jewel art from the great European houses including JAR. If you would liked to cast a critical eye over my jewel board and see what you (and anybody else) thinks.

Liberty I wish I hadn't seen that coat because it truly is the coat i have wanted all my adult life. I have an Indigo cotton denim kilt skirt from TopShop that I customised with silver gilt pins all the way up the fold over. It looks very designer but is not, really heavy quality fabric with knife pleats and asymmetry to the skirt. The coat reminds me of it. I cannot afford to drop that £££ on a coat. Please let it be on sale at half price!

BrandyAlexander · 16/08/2013 23:04

That sounds lovely Liberty! Love fruit bread.Smile Lack of mumsnet action is because i got sick about a week ago and I have just been trying to make it through each day. I was worried my bronchitis was back, but am much better today. My autumn looks awful (I am travelling a lot) so i need to be healthy.

mignonette · 16/08/2013 23:07

Dry Just saw the ring links. Your ring looks lovely, very luxe.

Topaz I'll keep hunting the Barbour and take your DD's critique of my choices on board Wink. When you mentioned the coat i thought how symbolic it was.

Wishing you all a good nights sleep (Dry with her adorned finger) and will speak with you all anon. xx

mignonette · 16/08/2013 23:08

Novice - you must put yourself on a programme of TLC. Feel better soon xx

libertychick · 16/08/2013 23:22

Hope you get some rest this weekend Novice. Night all, toast was delicious!

QueenCadbury · 17/08/2013 07:53

I've been giggling eating my breakfast reading last nights offerings.

liberty fruit toast sounds lush

novice look after yourself

foxy is dh back yet?

dry gorgeous ring. Do let the bag thread go. But maybe we should start a thread on how much to spend on jewellery Wink

mig that cost is not to my taste at all but I can see why you love it. Will keep everything crossed that it gets reduced. Thanks for your pm. Haven't had chance to reply.

one just wanted to say hello Smile

Off to Cornwall. Have 3 very excited dc!

BrandyAlexander · 17/08/2013 08:25

Thanks Mig, Liberty and QueenC xxx

QueenC can you imagine everyone everyone piling in on me on a jewelry thread?Grin I would give it to 50 posts before someone said "won't you think of the starving children of Africa"Wink

MrsRadicchio · 17/08/2013 09:13

Hi all

Foxy is your DH back today? Well done for surviving the week intact! DS1 dropped his nap pretty early too, it does make for a long day - but on the other hand I hate having to be ruled by being back home for a nap. Gives you more freedom now!

Novice sorry to hear you have not been well, it's hard to get back to full health when you are so busy and have so many commitments - take care of yourself.

Dry lovely ring and well done to your DD and DH. Would love some jewellery from DH but he is not good at that sort of thing!

Shop glad you survived the trip. I haven't been to Norwich for ages but really like it as a city.

QueenC enjoy your trip to Cornwall. How did the packing go?

Mig sorry to hear you are not feeling it re work. The problem with the caring professions seems to be all the extra 'non-caring' stuff that goes with it, paperwork etc. You sound very skilled and experienced from your posts. Love the coat you chose.

Liberty I love that fruit bread from MnS! Does Me+Em still have the trousers you mention? They sound really good. Also, I forgot to mention - that was a great reaction from your DH to the Goldsigns! Really pleased.

Topaz I have this barbour jacket which I love - love the Liberty lining. Is that the kind of thing your DD wants, a Beadnell? I seem to have missed the original links.

Hello to everyone I've missed.

Good question Linus, I think my revelation this year has been to buy clothes for the life I am in, stuff I wear day to day at home. I like Liberty's apporach of looking smart but comfy.

shopafrolic · 17/08/2013 09:27

Morning all!
QueenC have a wonderful time - I love Cornwall - just not the drive there......
One Flowers I'm not good with words in these instances
Novice when I worked I used to get terribly ill once a year for up to 3 weeks with sinusitis. It hasn't come back since I became a SAHM Hmm - since quitting isn't an option for you Grin I prescribe lots of Vitamins and Selenium. Keep well xx
Foxy hope you're doing okay
Dry love the ring - not surprised you slept in it!
Catching up on washing today. And then a BBQ at friends this afternoon - Me&em maxi I think as the weather looks iffy.

Queen Happy holidays and safe travel. My friend departed today for Polperro so if you see a slender dark haired yoga bodied Austrian wandering about Helligan/Eden, give her a nudge from me. I love to think of excited children embarking on their holidays. My son was sick with excitement and nerves before his first foreign holiday without his parents. And he had worked so hard to save up.

MrsR Thank you for your kind words. I think I have been on leave for too long and need to 'suck it up' and get on with it. Have to write some material for my young persons mental health group this weekend -basically if you are going to smoke Cannabis, here are my recommendations for keeping as well as possible Shock. I have a hard core of young 'customers' who will not stop smoking it and it is playing havoc with their MH.

Novice Was so tempted to wade in to ask her how much her diamond necklace etc cost but will refrain from feeding the animals Grin. Buying stuff is wealth creating. The less £££ that circulates in the economy, the worse off the working person will be. All those working in the retail, manufacturing and distribution industries, where would their jobs be? Socking it away in bank accounts/off shore doesn't keep the economy bouyant. Or am I talking naive economic rubbish?

Anyway that jewellery on the site I pinned is art. They are crafted with the most unbelievable skills hard won over time. Owning it is no different to owning a sculpture or painting. And humankind creates art no matter how poor their life is. The price of these things can get out of control but acquisition by collectors and acquisition by those that truly love them may be two different things. It is the collector who pushes up the price because they need their collection to appreciate. Not that I am telling anything anybody on this board doesn't already know Smile.

Today I am wearing A LA Fire Department navy T shirt and a pair of my new Stella knickers in black. Having a lazy start watching re runs of Mo Farah winning. He has the most beautiful eyes.

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2013 11:18

Have a lovely time QueenC, have fantastic memories of many great holidays spent in beautiful Cornwall.

BrandyAlexander · 17/08/2013 11:32

I have to share, I am soooo excited. The house I have loved from afar for 6 years has just come on the market. I am willing to give up this years bling for this house! Dh says he likes it! Now trying to work out how to get it without having to put our house on market first.

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2013 12:21

It's meant to be Novice..........
Am having a couple of hours to myself while rest of the family don wet suits (yikes) and jump off cliffs and explore caves;"coasteering", bit extreme for me. Working on my autumn wish list .

Biker boots?have I missed the boat or are they still in this winter?

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2013 12:29

Amber your gold Gigis look fab......the most versatile sandals ever!!

shopafrolic · 17/08/2013 12:31

They're in every winter Dry

BrandyAlexander · 17/08/2013 12:55
