One I'd love to work in an up market jewellers ....or be Novice's personal rock buyer Grin. I love jewellery and would love to know more about it. I'm traditional there's a surprise and wear yellow gold perhaps a French thing and particularly love princess cut diamonds and Art Deco style stuff (but don't have any)....someone has a beautiful ring on pin which I liked the other day. I like sapphires and Aquamarine...not a big ruby or emerald person get me,fussy now . I wear everything (apart from one piece) on a daily basis.

mignonette · 16/08/2013 16:35

Dry like that idea. That could be developed further. I could get DD one with 'cake' on it. For my DS, 'blowing people up on the XBox' or 'Gecko' (he has 2) or 'grunt' (usual method of communication).

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 16:36

Mig you're so kind......we need a little "brought a tear to my eye" sign as well as champagne "celebrate"!

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 16:38

Or "Whatever", " it's so unfair", "chocolate "for my DD, "awesome".....

OneLittleLady · 16/08/2013 16:39

mig Ds is doing brilliantly, far better than I could ever have hope. His foster family are the most perfect family he could have hoped to have been matched with. I cannot praise them enough for all they have done and do for him. I see them as an extension to my own family and we celebrate birthdays together as one big lot so it all works very nicely.

Dry I have a fondness for opals and pink sapphires though am as yet to be lucky enough to own any. One day, one day Grin

mignonette · 16/08/2013 16:48

One How wonderful for you that it has worked out like that but in my experience a lot of that is down to the mother/father not just the foster family. You need to take credit for forging a relationship with them that has your son at its heart. He is lucky to have you.

Dry I love apricot Opals. I had one wrapped up in a box waiting for the perfect setting and then I bloody lost it. I also love natural pearls but lost my antique single pearl ring when the pearl fell out. I also like Tigers Eye and Amber-all those semi precious stones. Jet is cool too. The little yellow stones are cute-don't know their names but they are often Diamond cut in a classic Tiffany style.

Marc Newson did an incredible sapphire and diamond bib necklace here that i believe is priceless. This is rather lovely as is this. I like these earrings but have no pierced holes so dream on.

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 16:49

A good friend has an amazing pink sapphire and diamond ring.....I always notice and comment on people's jewellery, think women are always happy to talk about their stuff....I was even invited to rummage through a v affluent friend'ss jewellery box as a result once.Pocketed a few pieces Wink...quite an experience.
Loved watching Liz Taylor's jewellery auction programme and the story told by a guy who was delivering some pieces to her Swiss house....she invited him into her bedroom where she had loads of pieces just chucked on the bed Shock probably pissed

OneLittleLady · 16/08/2013 17:00

I never think to ask for jewellery as I'm so fussy about what I like. I also really like amber. it makes it more difficult picking for me because I don't like yellow gold. I do love silver but most people associate 'proper' jewellery with gold I find.

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 17:13

Foxy has pinned the most exquisite ring on her Christmas board....hope you get it.

QueenCadbury · 16/08/2013 17:17

oneplatinum's more expensive than gold Wink

foxy I spent far longer than one should do fantasy spending a grand but decided to spend it on my 40th outfit jumpsuit, sandals and bracelet . I was never very good at maths....

QueenCadbury · 16/08/2013 17:18

Can't believe you are all talking about Christmas!

OneLittleLady · 16/08/2013 17:27

It starts early here queenC scroll back and check out the EPIC list of people I have to buy for Grin

mignonette · 16/08/2013 17:27

Grin @ Queen's math.

Queen I have started soaking the dried fruit for my Jamaican Black fruit cake that DH eats like Mamma's milk at Christmastime.

QueenCadbury · 16/08/2013 17:43

I saw your epic list one but it's still the middle of summer! I never think about it yet though as I have dd and ds birthdays in sept/oct.

mignonette · 16/08/2013 18:38

I can recommend this[ website for drooling over the most exquisite close up photographs of both new jewellery and estate collections.

I love the Tiffany Daisy Fellowed inspired jewels and the Estate Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpals sales.

foxysocks · 16/08/2013 18:46

aaaaarrrrrggghhhh

I am so far past the end of my tether I can't even see it anymore. the tether is a dot to me.

(random Friends ref for those who remember the 90s)

I can't believe DS chose this week, in the middle of the school hols, when DH is away and I have NO help, to stop napping.

i could cry I'm so fed up

have poured glass of chardonnay to get me through the last half hour. back later. x

shopafrolic · 16/08/2013 18:49

Dry glad you're having a fab time. Is it Guernsey you're at? There was a gorgeous quiet little beach I went to and fell in love with. Port Salut? I think??
I'm so thrilled for you about the ring. What a lovely surprise and well done DD!! For someone I've never met I welled up as though you're my bestie!!

So I'm just doing bath etc and will be back later on to check out posts properly.

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2013 19:14

Foxy I cried when my Dd gave up nap time...it meant my afternoon siesta got canned too Grin...poor you. Enjoy the Wine and I hope your DH returns soon also don't underestimate the power of a kiddie DVD

Shop you're lovely. Great to be able to get excited about purchases/gifts with people who understand. My DH is quite nice really ESP when he buys me rings despite his terrible dress sense!

Off out for dinner now

Decameron · 16/08/2013 19:22

Foxy rough about the naps especially this week. DD1 dropped hers very early but hope DD2 keeps it up. I am finding this week looooong after having help with the DDs in Ireland. DH is never home until after the girls are in bed.

Well done to your DD, Topaz.

Mig, hope you have a good break from work over the weekend.

Dry, that's lovely about the ring. I like that dress too.

One, please be nice to yourself, sorry you have had a rough time.

£1,000 at NAP (if only!), well, I am just going to copy Liberty with the coat and boots and get a babysitter with the change! I returned the neon pink J Crew sweater and am putting that towards boots/coat fund.

OK, must get my dearest daughters to bed and open wine. :)
