Will this do?Smile

Beachy, I am sure you are right. I don't think he realised he had left quite so much stuff. I have now completely filled two suitcases entirely with his stuff, and will need to go out and buy a third.

addle · 31/08/2013 15:15

Can recommend rfh for flounce too as you csn use internet and then snooze gently in capacious chair if on upper floors on quiet day. And no one notices. Notice lack of torrid however.

bigTillyMint · 31/08/2013 15:27

Addle, I agree, I love RFHSmile

Distinct lack of glamorous hidey places here. You cant go anywhere in this place without running into someone who knows you. SadSad
Flouncing ops v limited.
Probably part if the reason I flounced to London to be a student in the first placeGrin. I used to hide downstairs in the V&A cafe. It seemed impossibly glam to me and yes there was some erudite looking eye candySmile

hattymattie · 31/08/2013 17:28

Crem - went to the V&A recently with my friend - thought it was fab - unfortunately hadn't realised it was such a great hideout when I actually lived in London! Now the kids are getting older I'm on the look out for new Parisian hidyholes.

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2013 17:37

Hatty I love ( bizarrely ) the workmans cafe in the basement of the BHV! It's down in the bowels if the hardware dept. oh I love that place. I think I have a minor hardware fetish!
The other place I like to lose myself in is Abbey Books in rue de la Parchmenerie (sp.)
ici
Books are expensive but you can disappear in there for hoursGrin

hattymattie · 31/08/2013 18:03

Thanks Crem - will investigate - although I have to confess I've never ventured downstairs in BHV - not too thrilled by hardware as a rule. Smile

motherinferior · 31/08/2013 18:31

Your flouncing recommendation, Aftermay? Grin

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2013 18:33

It's very nicheGrin

Stropperella · 31/08/2013 19:22

My flouncing activity is invariably dog-walking, as at least I have the satisfaction of knowing I've done one of the chores when I get back. Grin

Thanks for all the advice re: dd. The school have been mainly useless so far, aside from last year's dep HoY, but sadly he has now left. They just direct her to the counsellors, with whom she refuses to have no truck whatsoever. I know there would be no referral from school to an ed psych. Dd and I did have an intense conversation after I posted this morning, which cleared the air a bit. And we have spent the rest of the day entertaining my dm, aunt and uncle.

QQ, your advice seems very wise. I'm much like BTM in that I'm good at the food and laundry bit, but I personally have no clue about how to withstand her fears and anxieties without joining in. I am about as calm as a Tasmanian Devil in my day-to-day existence, so the atmos round our gaff is probably never particularly calm.

Chin up, MrsS! Don't forget all those bottles of alcohol you have found.

Stropperella · 31/08/2013 19:23

Gah - "any truck whatsoever", obvs.

beachyhead · 31/08/2013 19:30

I agree with dog walking flouncing. The more pissed off I am, the higher up the hills I go! I agree with QQ about the 'calm supportive atmosphere'...Funnily enough, I'm fine at mastering this with my teen, but the 8 yo, well I haven't met one person who can be calm around her..... She makes our head spin, and not in a good way Smile

motherinferior · 31/08/2013 19:33

Wow, I got back from my flounce to discover DP and the girls have rearranged the house and I have a little office all to myself again...

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

motherinferior · 31/08/2013 19:34

...to which I can also now flounce, of course, though it lacks the amenities of the BLGrin

bigTillyMint · 31/08/2013 20:08

Wow, MI! That flounce really workedSmile

I think I need a dog. For flouncing purposesGrin I would actually happily kidnap my NDN's dog as she is soooo cute!

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2013 21:53

Planning me a big huff tomorrow , on the back of yours MI .Grin
Hope it's as successfulWink

Another recommendation for dog-flouncing here. In the months after my mother came to live with us, the ddog's legs were almost worn down to stumps.

CointreauVersial · 31/08/2013 23:55

I don't flounce, I just shout at DH, and he in turn shouts at the DCs. If we had a pet, the DCs would shout at that.

DH and I have spent the whole day plastering, sanding, painting and cleaning the resulting mess. DD2 has her birthday party (ice skating followed by pizza and sleepover) tomorrow, which meant we had to get a wiggle on and put the living room back into some semblance of order.

Although I did spend a relaxing hour alone drinking coffee and reading magazines in the garden, thinking to myself that we won't get many more sunny weekends this year. Twas heaven on a stick.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/09/2013 12:04

I went to a party, got to bed around 3.30 am and have the resulting small hangover. Cleaning Fairy arrives in an hour, hooray, then just have to pack my suitcase and tidy my bedroom. Smile

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/09/2013 12:05

I am in awe of MI and the results of her flounce. Grin

motherinferior · 01/09/2013 12:10

Ah but I am having to be ostentatiously appreciativeGrin . Attempted to cook a delicious lunch which, er, isn't. Also in grips of perimenipausal flooding which means I had to get up twice and scrub stairs AND bathroom

motherinferior · 01/09/2013 12:12

Planning to paint new office (which used to be old office - it is, in fact, the reason we bought this house in the first place as is Attic Nook and I have really resented working in the large front bedroom surrounded by Inevitable Junk) in bright colours everyone else will hate.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/09/2013 12:31

MI - tranexamic acid revolutionised my last two periods and made them quite manageable.

Blackduck · 01/09/2013 12:41

I flounce, dp doesn't notice 1 I am clearly doing something wrong....
Here it is a hike over the hill to a tea shop or pub....
London is starting to look mighty attractive.
