Love the LA glasses Mig, I've got some hand made ones from there that I use for icecream etc, as they're quite chunky.

It definitely feels like autumn today here.
It's the first day that I've put my big robe on, and my slippers... Instead of my short one and hav's

Annianni · 12/08/2013 08:57

Good looking neighbour Decam?!
Think we're going to need a photo :o

QueenCadbury · 12/08/2013 09:10

Morning all. I'm being a stroppy patient as I requested to see the consultant in clinic rather than the junior and I've been told the only way I can guarantee that is to pay privately. I will stamp my feet until I see him Grin

Lovely top decam and bag foxy

All this talk of glasses has made me want to buy new ones. There's absolutely no point in me spending loads as dh seems to break them all. I had a lovely set of crystal ones from my 18th but now only have 1 left. He also managed to break tje ones I had for my21st

Apols for typos etc but am on phone

Good for you Queen. Insist away. My pet hate? 'Triage' by GP receptionists. How on earth are they trained to know the cause behind every symptom? And being asked what my problem is on the phone when I can hear what they are discussing over their phones whilst in the waiting room? Not happening. I just cut them off by saying it is a Gp problem or a NP problem.

It has felt Autumnal all week here. I need to get back to the city Smile. Am back at work later this week so will get my fix then.

Drywhiteplease · 12/08/2013 09:47

Morning.....I have very weak wifi and have been walking round the pool (followed by my 2 teens) waving my iPad like a loon trying it get one bar.....the other residents must think we're the odd family! DH had the audacity to say "can't you live without wifi?" Shock says the man who is constantly checking e mails.....ahh the day 3 years ago in the car park of Euromarche in S of France when I ran over his blackberry was a high point of my life!!!Grin

Enjoying the glass links....I break everything so really need plastic flutes!Grin

Sleep I've never been to Biscester ( living up N) but would love to go....amazing will power!
Foxy I hope you enjoy the bubbles when you crack a bottle open....and the spending!
shop am sending you strength......

I have already had crab once.....love crab and lobster and when I go to Cornwall or any other beach location, I have the crab challenge......a crab a day, a new diet idea?!!!!! DH is off to the supermarket to buy me some Chablis to go today's crab!Smile happy days!

mignonette · 12/08/2013 10:19

Dry Am Envy at that opening statement 'walking round the pool'. And what is your verdict on pool fashion today?

Chablis and Crab- VERY good pairing. I have a lovely Waitrose recipe card recipe for Crab & Parmesan tart if anybody would like it. Have made umpteen times and it never fails. You can bung in whatever green veg is in season too plus a little cayenne for piquancy.

OneLittleLady · 12/08/2013 10:27

Also very Envy at you dry I'd love to be walking round a pool right about now and just forgetting everything at home for a while.

Hmm, I've never tried crab or lobster. Well, I've had canned crab meat but didn't like it but I'd still be willing to try it fresh.

Turquoiseblue · 12/08/2013 10:29

hello all, A little delurk from me

Lots to catch up on, it s a busy tread. Well we ve spent a really lovely family weekend here - biking with the dc's, GP's and My Dsis and family the family BBQ s in the evenings (ds (6) had a tandem bike with dh and was such a giggle, but so proud of himself, he s quite sporty but only recently mastered bikking. Not a very super stylish weekend but I did wear my lovely pied a terre sandals that i ve gotten lots of wear from here hope the links work this time, with my tube skirt (cant find a link to it) black halter top ..aeons old from kookai and this cardi.
Must tidy my pinterest boards, I ve pinned sporadically but want to use it a bit more for ideas and to organise what s in my wardrobe.
I m a confessed hoarder, I m ridiculously sentimental about lots of my clothes - 'wore this when..etc' so find it difficult to part with them even if I m not wearing them I still have my Favourite jeans I bought when I got my first wages. Silly I know.
Foxy, we have beautiful John Rocha WEFT crystalware, Dh s godmother bought us the full set (champagne, red/white/ tumblers) when we got married. DH is a clumsy klutz and has broken 4 of the red wine glasses and Waterford no longer make the weft design so we cant replace them, I m in a quandary about which design to start collecting again, and what to do as it doesnt make sense to replace to whole set but what does one do with 4 wine glasses missing ? My poor dh is only allowed drink from plastic picnic glasses from now on! So my advice if you re going to invest in a set is get ones that they will still be producing years down the line so you can replace broken pieces.these are really lovely I think [[http://www.johnlewis.com/john-rocha-for-waterford-crystal-lume-flute-set-of-2/p230396167champagne flutes]]

I am considering this dress at the moment - what does everyone think?
We have dinner party next week I d like something nice for, have a nice casual option of www.hakei.com/productos-detalle/es/EUR/5/21/0/007483 this with jeans and heels.

Turquoiseblue · 12/08/2013 10:32

oops posted too soon.. that should read casula option... if the dress is a non runner ...

MarshaBrady · 12/08/2013 10:41

Mmm at lobster. We have crayfish every year with home made mayonnaise, well usually they're in big demand now and you have to reserve in advance. Worth the flight, so good.

mignonette · 12/08/2013 10:43

Good advice Turquoise and good to have you back. I think it is okay to mix and match wine glasses as long as you match up size/proportions and style. Could you do this with some new Rocha styles? I quite like the mixed up eclectic look but understand that it is not so appropriate for a super formal table. Your Rocha glass link is broken BTW. There are glass/plate replacement services available on line and Ebay can come in handy for replacing missing glasses.

The dress is a lovely blue. Very nice. But I love the Hakei top the best. That is absolutely beautiful.

MarshaBrady · 12/08/2013 10:44

Turquoise I finally got rid of a Nicole Miller dress I bought in NYC at 22. Bonkers, I realised it was entirely for sentimental reasons. Purchases like that meant a lot and I remember all of them. The high at buying those first few designer things.

Annianni · 12/08/2013 10:51

Shop have you washed your j crew linen tee?

I washed mine in cold water as per instructions and it's shrunk Sad

It had just the right amount of slouchy-ness for me and is now a good 2 inches smaller, across the bust and waist.

Just had it flat, on top of my unworn white one, and the difference is huge.

I'll email J Crew later and see what they say.

I was used to the Zara ones changing shape when washed... I hoped these would be better.

mignonette · 12/08/2013 10:53

What a pain Anni. I tihnk T shirts and jeans are the hardest things to find the perfect shape and cut in. And when you think you've found it and it shrinks..... oh dear, J crew aren't doing very well PR wise are they? I keep hearing and reading loads of little grumbles about quality. Their customer service may well be good but I'd rather not need it in the first place.

OneLittleLady · 12/08/2013 10:58

I'm definitely throwing my toys out of the pram this morning as nothing seems to fit. The scales say I've lost a little weight (read four pounds) but everything is clinging in the most unflattering way Sad it may be a leggings day as they seem to be the only thing that will stretch over my poor swollen stomach

santamarianovella · 12/08/2013 10:59

morning all,
shop sending you good vibes, hope it goes well.
dry enjoy your holiday,
ani i never look good in the morning!,dh says its like waking up next to medusa Grin.
dec at least you had decent pjs!

all our flutes are chipped too,so maybe plastic ones are not so bad after all!

foxysocks · 12/08/2013 10:59

i agree with mig, i love the mix and match look with tableware. am tempted to get some basic classic flutes from JL and some coupes too. love that 20s vibe.

the dress is a gorgeous colour turquoise and I like the lace. the belt wouldn't work on me but you might be able to whip it off. or if you have a better waist than me leave it on!

I met the lovely queenc this morning, we did a dress/trouser swap. unfortunately the trousers are too big for me, booo, as they are a lovely cut and colour, and v versatile.

did you try the dress queen? i hope it works for you. what would you like me to do re: trews?

i love this yellow balenciaga

Annianni · 12/08/2013 11:00

I know Mig.

I don't want them to refund me and tell me to keep it, I want one that won't shrink in the first place!

Dry Envy

foxysocks · 12/08/2013 11:07

oh anni how annoying.

those zara linen tees probably rank as one of my worst ever buys. I ordered three after seeing them raved about on DMBL40 and had to chuck them all after only a few months of wear. I know am hard on my tees - I tend to have a few on rapid rotation rather than loads to choose between - but i would still expect them to last more than one summer. terrible quality.

santamarianovella · 12/08/2013 11:08

turq they are both great, but i prefer the top, really nice.

one we all feel swollen and that time of the month, dont be upset,

mignonette · 12/08/2013 11:10

Foxy That Bal is practically a bargain! Lovely, you should buy it Grin...

Am feeling very miserable today and missing my cat. It comes and goes but can be quite crippling at times, how miserable I can get about it Sad...

Hopefully I will get to meet some/all of you one day. Frustratingly October is out for me due to work/ family stuff/ trip to Germany to see niece and Brother.

OneLittleLady · 12/08/2013 11:11

Thanks santa I'm ok, just got mardies on as I can't wear what I want to!

I'm on the look out for men's leather converse for DP for christmas so if anyone's seen any or seen something similar in style and price let me know. He's very fussy about shoes so I feel like I'm entering a minefield wanting to buy him some!

Annianni · 12/08/2013 11:13

Same here Foxy.

That yellow bag is lovely.

santamarianovella · 12/08/2013 11:13

gorgeous foxy, the mini city is lovely too!

ani thats awful!

mignonette · 12/08/2013 11:14

I have some good T's from C+C California (which are fantastic quality), James Perse and Day Birger. Great Plains and Mint Velvet are good too.

As for cheapies, New Look ones have served me well (very well actually) as have Uniqlo, American Apparel, Gap and even George at Asda which I wear for one season and they do not stretch, tear or get misshapen.

IMO, it is the mid range T's from the High St that are the worst value in terms of them stretching/shrinking/looking manky. Zara/River Island/ Mango/ Miss Selfridges/ Jigsaw/Warehouse/COS. Not that impressed TBH.
