Bum! Just join a thread and lock it down! So I'll start the next one.

Blimey, Rubes and Beachy on holiday, Crem on the lash, and Dukes back in the crepey fold!

I survived It's A Knockout - twas hilarious fun, and there are enough sporty young chaps in our office to get us to 3rd place overall. Favourite event? Hmmm.... possibly the Chicken race, where I dressed as a giant padded chicken and ran across an inflatable while someone threw buckets of water at me....Grin And watching the Financial Director face-plant while attempting to bounce on a giant space-hoppa fashioned like a horse is always good for the soul.

There is apparently a large amount of video footage, which will no doubt be shared around the office on Monday. Blush

DD1 made it home from Germany, and rushed sobbing into my arms when I collected her from the coach. Tears of happiness and homesickness, luckily; she had a fantastic time.

Blackduck · 20/07/2013 06:56

Dp off to Barca this morning - ds and I had a quiet one at the pub last night (well I did - feeling a bit meh so was trying to hide, but got cornered by a mouth mother mother so just ''mmmed' at regular intervals)
Friend over today for dinner who is in a tres crappy relationship so I predict much wine and tears.....

Cremolafoam · 20/07/2013 07:40

CV you're so game! Love the it's a knockout story! You must have been boiled in that costume!
This is my last day of work before 2 weeks off and dd is home at lunchtime from Devon writing course.
Yay!Grin

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2013 07:46

CV the It's a Knockout sounds great fun (I used to get hysterical watching it in the 70's) but yes, must have been boiling in the costumes in this heat!

DH is looking very rough (in bed) - too much beer and not enough food. So I doubt he'll want to drink todayWink

DD seems to have an impossibly packed timetable for the next few days (had her friends dad on phone trying to check arrangements!) whilst DS is grounded for the foreseeable after we discovered he had been up to no good with his mates after schoolConfused

Blackduck · 20/07/2013 08:34

Oh no BTM - what's he been up to?

Ds had sex ed this week 'I don't want to know' was his reaction :) and was less than impressed by the new teacher (his current one is a hard act to follow)

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2013 10:37

I have the most awful period pain - it kept me awake most of the night and I have thrown up (but am throwing up with the stress too - so not sure if this is period or stress related). I am also flooding. Put new ginormous tampon (purchased at vast expense from local pharmacy as our local supermarkets don't do anything larger than regular) plus super absorbent pad on, and had soaked through both by the time I got back from Monoprix. I have some Tranexamic acid, bought from Boots, but have read the instructions and it says not to be used if you are over 45. They didn't ask my age when I bought it. Or should I just not leave the house today?

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2013 10:38

Clearly I look very youthful to pharmacist at Boots in St Pancras station! Grin

wilbur · 20/07/2013 11:30

Why can't you take tranexamic acid of you're over 45? Sure that's when most people need it? Sorry for the generally grim health issues, mrsS, as if there's not enough going on for you. Sad

CV - respect on placing 3rd in your chicken suite, sounds like a complete laugh. Can't imagine how hot you were though.

Crem - I read your cliff hanger post last night and laughed out loud Grin but my tablet keypad was not playing game so I couldn't reply (although typing problems may have been more to do with my own alcohol consumption - Friday cocktails Smile - than the touchscreen). Glad you've got a couple of weeks off now to recover fully.

Beachy - have a fabulous holiday, lots of lovely food and relaxing.

BD - I am so envious of you being able to wander to the pub with ds for a swift half and dinner. I need to get more of that kind of thing into our life. I'm feeling a bit "you work your fingers to the bone and then you die" about life atm, need to lighten up.

motherinferior · 20/07/2013 12:10

MrsS - I reckon you need a week off with Laydeez Problems?

motherinferior · 20/07/2013 12:17

I have done a v quick look up about the meds. I reckon the over 45 rule is just to cover themselves in case the bleeding is being caused by something worrying - there is at least one study showing it's particularly effective in over 45s. And in any case you're only a couple of years over thatGrin. I'd take it.

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2013 12:55

MrsS, I think MI is right, of course! About the meds and the week off for laydeez probs. Sympathies - it's the last thing you need.

Have just been round for a cuppa at a friends - they have had their downstairs done. It looks stunningEnvy

motherinferior · 20/07/2013 13:17

I have been helping friend sort her flat out for her 50th birthday party tonight. She is v long-standing friend but has got into Personal Development stuff in a big way in recent years and I am slightly dreading long conversations with rather boring people....

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2013 13:27

I am going end of sales shopping with DD1. DD2 does not leave the apartment unless she has to. We are going out to some friends who live in Picardy tomorrow for a barbecue. They have a garden, a paddling pool and a hose... DD2 will want to go there!

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2013 13:40

Sounds bliss, MrsS. I am dreaming of a house by the coast where my worries will be blown away by the sea breeze.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2013 14:02

Oh yes, BTM. That would be luvverly. Am thinking of taking the DDs to Ostende next weekend.

Have taken 2 Tranexamic acid. If you don't hear from me again, you'll know why!

Mmmm, that's what I was thinking, ruby!

Blackduck · 20/07/2013 14:51

Sorry forgot to say 'hi Dukes'
We keep 'losing' people, or is that they have a life?!

I think we'll do 10 years here and then head to the coast.....

MrsS - yes to leave on the basis of stomach upset (not untrue!)

Have bought a pair of shorts, the sun has duly disappeared....

Herbs love the bikini, but serious think the world is not ready for the bit between my boobs and bottom ;)

Blackduck · 20/07/2013 14:52

Seriously.... Ahh...

Cremolafoam · 20/07/2013 15:09

MI is she into that Landmark thing?

motherinferior · 20/07/2013 16:34

Skyros....

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/07/2013 18:52

I am back from sales shopping. I think MI has been briefing DD1, who greeted my trying on session with "For God's sake, you can't wear that! It's much too big. Wait there and I'll bring you a smaller size." Accompanied by rolling eyes.

So I have a denim skirt and a stripy T shirt (the T shirt I ended up with was, err, 3 sizes smaller than the one I originally tried Blush) plus a very pale blue denim skirt that I am going to dye either black or khaki.

DD1 and I were giggling over some hideous camouflage patterned jeans. They would have been fine had they stopped there, but they had lace on the back pockets, "jewels" sprinkled liberally over the top of the legs and several rips on the legs. And then noticed that one of the sales assistants was wearing a pair and they looked even worse on.

Cremolafoam · 20/07/2013 19:17

Wink MI
Bonne Chance

CointreauVersial · 21/07/2013 00:58

Spent the day manically filling the skip and driving the DCs to and fro (the hill out of the village is closed for the weekend for level crossing work, so everything required massive and tedious detours).

DS's new bedroom window is in, but the glaziers had a "whoops moment" (their words) and cracked one of the panes, so they have to come back to replace the sealed unit. Fitted wardrobe demolition is scheduled for tomorrow (it won't be easy; the damned thing is welded to the wall with 20 layers of gloss paint). Oh, and just for fun we de-sludged one of the water butts. We found life forms at the bottom.
