Bum! Just join a thread and lock it down! So I'll start the next one.

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2013 09:42

You certainly know how to enjoy yourself, CV!

I have made scones and muffins to take to barbecue.

Blackduck · 21/07/2013 09:44

I had friend round and, as predicted, wine and tears.
I am making two cakes today including the infamous raspberry number, may post a pic if it looks okay Grin

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2013 09:56

Feeling a bit rough this morning, but it's worth it - great party, as alwaysSmile

Now debating whether to do the local country show. Yes, you heard that right, a country show in London!

CointreauVersial · 21/07/2013 11:25

Ooh, I love a country show, BTM. But in London?? Clearly Dulwich Village has ideas above its station. Wink Our local one is called The Cow Pie.

motherinferior · 21/07/2013 11:33

I don't have a hangoverGrin

I managed to avoid the bonkers self-development lot and chat happily and tipsily with a bunch of other old mates from a previous phase of A's life. (Brought together, sadly, by a very charismatic mutual friend who then developed a progressive illness and killed herself a year or so ago. I slightly think this bereavement is one of the reasons A has got so into the introspective self-development stuff...)

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 12:51

Interesting MI, I have a friend also who has taken to transcendental meditation and jogging for similar reasons.. Whatever helps I suppose.

BTM I have small experience of country shows. Will you be entering anything? I do love a giant vegetable display ( onions leeks pumpkins! ) and the baby goats are always worth an oooh!Grin

hattymattie · 21/07/2013 16:00

Hello crepeys - back from a whistle stop tour of my parents in north yorkshire and also Edinburgh. I love Edinburgh - why can't I live there - mind you I think it was slightly warmer than normal very nice to walk around in at night.

I have skimmed though the thread and would just like to say Herbs - you look fab in that bikini - I'd be very happy if that was me. How come you haven't got mummy tummy?

I have found myself two very nice tops and a dress in the Alexon sale - I don't know if this means I've finally turned into my mother - but what the hell - a dress that finally fits. So this, along with my french purchase means I now have a grand total of two respectable dresses.

DD1 has done the end of the Monsoon sale and has got herself some fabulous cocktail dresses for very low prices - different from anything we'd find in Paris.

She has now added Durham to her list of universities - but only if she can stay in the castle! I don't think she's choosing according to the right criteria. Hmm

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 16:08

hI hattie and welcome back!
dd is also interested in Durham -how funny- My sister went to Durham and did live in Castle. ( dsis has been instrumental in persuading her that the Durham experience would be brilliant)her room was circular and must have been up in the turrets. It was amazing to me especially after my student experience ,which was a shoebox in Clapham.Hmm

motherinferior · 21/07/2013 16:18

In S&B news, should I continue my sale purchases with a pair of black biker boots I will wear ALL WINTER, £60 in the DM sale? I do actually need some kind of autumnal footwear as all similar items have worn out beyond repair...

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 16:20

yes MI I think it is time for autumnal wardrobe consideration ( now that it is bucketing here)
Link to said boots.>? I am looking for the same,Smile

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2013 16:31

Autumn wardrobe?Shock It's going to be 32 degrees tomorrow!

Cremo, I lived in Clapham for 11 years, but not as a student! Which bit?

QueenQueenie · 21/07/2013 16:35

I lived in clapham south for nearly 10 years: Abbeville Road then Nightingale Lane!

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 17:01

Off clapham park road. Just close enough to walk home from Brixton academy!( hmm sounds dangerous actually but I do remember doing it)
Prior to that I lived in a basement off The Pavement.
Used to drink in the Windmill occasionally Grin

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 17:02

Abbeville has posho restaurants one . My old Dad used to take me for dinner there if he was in town .Grin

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 17:07

There was a pub in nightingale lane we went to a bit actually it was The Nightingale I think. Had a few mates who lived in Clapham South- lynette ave. we often played tennis on the common and I can remember hearing Concords sonic boom overhead.

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2013 17:17

Oooh, Cremo, my old flat was in the Old Town. Yes, drank in the Windmill and went to the Academy and Fridge. Went to the Nightingale v occasionally and my best mates lived on Lynette Ave! Abbeville Rd is posh now (has been for years actually!)

I lived in Clapham North when I first moved to London, when it was scuzz-citySmile

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 17:25

Yes the high street was pretty grim back then.
There were 2 places I remember really well. Do you remember Teatime cafe on the Pavement. I loved that place. 'twas a proper tea shop with gorgeous cakes.!
And the other was a gifty place called Zeitgeist - full of phillipe stark and bodum coffee presses. I thought it was terribly trendy.Grin
Oh The Fridge yes! Wow takes me back!
( feels crepey)
My late brother lived in a house in Lynette Ave full of bonkers people.
Several scots and q a few journos like him. Many many parties. ( 1985-88)Grin

hattymattie · 21/07/2013 17:46

MI - I have been secretly wanting DM's for years but not quite dared. I think you should go for it on my behalf (vicarious pleasure) Smile. DD2 wants the flowery ones.

hattymattie · 21/07/2013 17:46

Crem - it would be so funny if our DD's ended up at the same uni's;

bigTillyMint · 21/07/2013 17:52

Yes, I used to love Teatime. Zeitgeist is still there IIRC!
The Landor was our haunt back in 87+!

Cremolafoam · 21/07/2013 18:20

BTM parallel universe!
Hattie - looks like it might happen!!.
Funny old small world init!
Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2013 18:28

DD1 has the flowery DMs. She has just given me back mine, as they are too small for her now. DD2 is eyeing them covetously.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2013 18:34

I lived in Streatham, in a rather nice large house between the Common and Streatham Hill from 1984-5, and then moved to Putney 1985-6 and back to Streatham 1986-7. I then moved Abroad in early 1987.

motherinferior · 21/07/2013 18:40

Btw MrsS do we conclude you are still alive and not posting from the afterlife?

Will link tomorrow (if they are still in stock, only size 3 left !) DP pointed sniffly to many other boots. I did say almost all of those are long and/or knackered. Stupidly, the last pair of calf/ankle boots I bought had crepe soles and it's virtually impossible to get them resoled.

AIBU to want more than one pair of shoes anyway?

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/07/2013 18:45

Yes! The tranexamic acid was absolutely marvellous! Just took 2, and managed to go for 4 hours with just jumbo tampon. Decided not to take any more today, and it has slowed down enough to just go with a large tampon, not the belt and braces of ST as well.
