ooh did you see my mate Andrew playing his double bass there?

addle · 19/06/2013 18:28

thank you all, it is lovely though fear i may be too much of shortarse. will continue to linger

hattymattie · 19/06/2013 18:45

Free beauty products Envy, Glyndebourne Envy. I shall just sit and sulk in the major thunder and lightening storm we're having here.

DD1 had her French part of the bac this morning (French is done a year before the other subjects). She thinks it went OK but results are so unpredictable we're not counting our chickens.

QueenQueenie · 19/06/2013 18:45

How tall / short are you addle?

QueenQueenie · 19/06/2013 18:50

MI. Am so thick I only just cottoned on that your post re musician friend was aimed at me... when I first read it I thought it was part of a conversation I knew nothing about... Doh!
I may well have seen Andrew, but without knowing he was Andrew obvs. We went to see Falstaff the Sunday before last. Dh got given the tickets as a thank you. The opera was great, the gardens beautiful, the weather feckin freezing (think icy wind) and many of our fellow audience members quite frankly objectionable Grin.

bigTillyMint · 19/06/2013 18:56

addle, the dress is full-length on me, but you could take it up?!

bigTillyMint · 19/06/2013 18:57

You are slim and it is very flatteringSmile

Cremolafoam · 19/06/2013 19:10

Ooh like that dress. I fear it would look like a sack on me as I too, am short of arse.and wide too ahem
I once tried on a trench coat in monsoon and no matter what, beige belted coats look like lab coats on me. I said as much out loud in the monsoon changing room, and when I emerged wearing the coat not one, but two shop assistants nodded sagely saying 'Mmn yes a lab coat'

Angry

Tis very fitted without showing lumps and bumps too much!

I have realised how important it is to dress in fitted clothes especially if you are curvy - a colleague of mine always looks fab in her outfits, which are always close-fitting/with belt, etc. However, when she puts an over-sized Tshirt on, it is not at all flattering - she looks 2 or 3 sizes bigger.

wilbur · 19/06/2013 19:40

Ah yes, the trench coat effect. That's where I am convinced I will look like Lauren Bacall and where I actually look like Humphrey Bogart. I find coats very difficult in general as I get so cold I really need a duvet made into a coat, but then of course I look 4 times the size. Still don't have to think about coats for a few weeks yet.

bigTillyMint · 19/06/2013 19:45

Hmm Wilbur, it's set to rain round our way all day tomorrow!

motherinferior · 19/06/2013 19:47

Wilbur, I give in and look like a perambulating small Swiss roll in my coat. The effect is heightened by the fact my coat is brown. Or perhaps, on wintrier days, an Arctic Roll Grin

hattymattie · 19/06/2013 21:01

I have a duvet coat - I look like an old lady in it but am never cold I only put it on when it's below zero.

I also cannot do belted coats - or belted anything. I am straight up and down so there is no purchase for the belt - I get a sort of belt on a toilet roll effect.

Crem - cheeky mares saying lab coats - they are not supposed to agree with you Hmm

Cremolafoam · 19/06/2013 21:06

Grin MI

Agree on the subject of fitted clothes being flattering . Vair difficult to get clothes that do fit properly though. I am not a fan if the waist cinching belt although I know it's supposed to give an ersatz waist;( I hear you Gok) I look like a sack of spuds and feel like Im going to have an asthma attack after 10 minutes of belt. Also tends to give me mono- boob and I feel erm
...matronly.

Looking at weather this morning - I actually need wellies not sandals Sad

Stropperella · 20/06/2013 07:25

Temperatures in the mid-30s today in here in Vienna, apparently, but much cooler again by next week. One pair of my shorts fits dd better than me (damn) so am going to have to buy some new ones. I packed a bit too light and have actually not bought enough clothes with me. I was so busy sorting everything else out that I just overlooked the whole clothing is sure. Oops.

Stropperella · 20/06/2013 07:27

"issue" not "is sure". Damn you, autocorrect.

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2013 08:07
