Crocky - might not work but the Panache Jasmine has v stretchy lace at the top? So it kind of expands so you don't get that 4 boob thing during time of the month

Flibbertyjibbet · 09/06/2013 20:39

hazlenut

It was 7 years ago that I was measured as 38b so a bit too long ago to complain maybe? But because thats the size the so called experts measured me as, I've bought that size since when shopping anywhere for bras. One lot I got from sainsbos last year had huge wide wires and hammock cups to go with them. Yet I wore them because a bra fitter said that was my size!!! I used to look at myself in a t shirt and I could put my hands under and at the side of my boobs and literally lift them 45degrees to the front, and up several inches! The shape that made me must have really aged me Sad

The really Angry part of it though is that I turned up at marks in a 36a that I was bulging out of. The stupid cow measured me OVER this then brought me bras to try on in the size she came up with. To think that I've been wearing bras that are 4 inches too wide in the bad, with cups smaller than they should be and wider than they should be... The boobs were squashed down and the wiring was always actually about half an inch away from my chest.

How can they say they are trained bra fitters???? I just don't get it.

Can someone or serial people send them links to these threads I think that should get them to take some notice. They should take out billboard ads apologising to everywoman they have fitted for a bra in the last 30 years.

DorisIsWaiting · 09/06/2013 20:42

Rubberbullets I had the same problem when I was wearing the sadie,

It rolled up dreadfully, I think I ended up going back to underwired normal bras (I may have had 1 wired feeding bra too).

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/06/2013 20:56

We've been trying flibberty - there is a twitter campaign, facebook, we even mystery shopped them across multiple shops at opposite ends of the country. They Just.Don't.Listen.

I mystery shopped them - 30HH/J, stuck in a 36f. Sorrel, 30GG in a 36/38d...

Have a look here at the reviews - they were truly awful

HazleNutt · 09/06/2013 21:14

yes and they have so far answered every complaint with "sorry but yours is just an isolated case, our trained bra fitters know what they are doing..."
Isolated my arse.

EMUZ · 09/06/2013 21:15

I also mystery shopped them. Can't remember exactly what size they put me in but it was around a 38/40H
I wear a 34JJ

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/06/2013 21:19

I couldn't remember yours - I had a feeling it was silly though! It's infuriating.

ChunkyChicken · 09/06/2013 22:46

Perhaps I should mystery-shop M&S too? I have a big/well-known shopping centre nearby with a BIG M&S... They fitted my nursing bra with my dd (now 3) and went on the band size I had been wearing (I was about 37wks pg), so a 32, which was not toobad, given after DS, I'm a 30, and added a couple of sizes to the E/F i was wearing, but they don't sell nursing bras with a 32 band, so I got 34GGs. Having said that, I did actually fit those bras in the very early days, so got the wear out of them!! I would be interested to see what they suggest!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/06/2013 23:00

Go for it - always good to have more mystery shops to tweet at them about :)

Endofmyfeather · 10/06/2013 03:02

Can I be intervened please?

I've been wearing a 36C (M&S 'guesstimate) for a while with increasing backfat and under arm boobage. Having read a few of these threads now, I think it's completely wrong but just need to check what I should actually be - i measure 32.5 under boobs and 42...ahem....dangling. So should I be going with 32 underneath? Shock and then what cup size? G? Confused

Thanks!! Thanks

EMUZ · 10/06/2013 06:09

Try a 32GG and a 32H
(Depends whether brand does an FF or not)

TickledOnion · 10/06/2013 13:13

Have you seen this article in the Guardian? As usual it (and most of the comments) miss the point. www.guardian.co.uk/fashion/shortcuts/2013/jun/09/secret-to-perfect-fitting-bra

Saltire · 10/06/2013 15:04

I ordered a Cleo Juna in a 38G( which was what statistically guessed I would be going by my own measurments) and the back fitted fine but the cups were too big - there was a gap of maybe 3/4 cms between where my nipple was and the fabric of the bra. I have also noticed that some of teh 38g bras seem very loose in the cups but fit fine in the back. Maybe i need to try a size smaller

SofaCanary · 10/06/2013 16:17

Can you lovely ladies advise on bra size please.

Measure 30 under bust and 37 over - they not all my own if that makes a difference to fit or whatnot.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/06/2013 16:20

in theory a 30f however not being all your own can make a difference as the shape is generally narrower based and more projected. you will probably want a bra which has quite narrow wires. you may also find you have to go up a back size to get the cups correctly positioned.

Once you have a better idea of your size you might like ewa michalak as they are quite narrow wired ime

SofaCanary · 10/06/2013 16:33

Thanks so much, StatisticallyChallenged, that's fab Flowers

Ewa Michalak is a new name to me, off to google!

Flibbertyjibbet · 10/06/2013 18:55

yes yes yes the mention of 'narrower wires'.

I am in a sainsbo's 34d today even though some of my other new bras are 34dd or even 34e. I like this one best as the wires are narrower. With the others, the wire is so wide that my boobs just sag about to the sides. THe difference between the D and DD wire was unbelievable. WHy don't the manufacturers realise that a larger cup does not mean boobs all over the place? The narrower wires helps to STOP them going all armpit direction!

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/06/2013 20:44

I think the following bras run narrower in the cup - most cleo non padded styles, panache jasmine, bravissimo aleya, bravissimo boudoir beau

marriednotdead · 11/06/2013 07:51

Crocky
Give the Cleo Juna a try. If you are fuller at certain times, the top of the cup is open enough for you to expand upwards without the quadboob effect that you get with a Deco.

TryDrawing · 11/06/2013 11:49

Thank you very much Statistically , I am now the happy owner of an Amoralia Cupcake bra in 34E, which fits perfectly. And, if I do say so myself, my boobs look fantastic.

And thank you ChunkyChicken for encouraging me to return the offending item to Mothercare. I did so, and mentioned I'd been measured wrongly. The woman behind the counter didn't give a crap seem surprised.

But I feel much better. I think I'll go for an Amoralia Second Skin next, as it looks very comfortable. Not sure how supportive it will be though, could anyone take a gander and give me an opinion?

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2013 12:36

Carried out a very satisfying intervention on my MIL yesterday. She was wearing a cheap moulded 38C and is now the proud owner of a Freya Faye in a 34G and a Fantasie Susanna in a 32G.

We went to JL in Exeter where I had a chat with the very pleasant shop assistant about their shocking range of bras. They had two in my size (30GG) and not one bra in a 28. I pointed out that other JLs hold a much wider range of sizes and she said they had raised the issue with their buyers but weren't expecting the situation to change anytime soon!

Next stop was HoF. Apparently the Exeter branch doesn't stock any 28 bands either and only stocks up to a G cup (in any band size). Disappointing.

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2013 13:57

Ok, I'm planning to try this dress on in town tomorrow. What on earth would I do about a bra? Some sort of multi-way contraption, stick on things (not a fan of these after having one fall off during a show)? Bra less is not an option. Maybe this isn't the dress for me.

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/06/2013 14:07

my wonderbra sits very low but failing that what about a low back converter and some clever tit tape positioning to make sure dress stays in place

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2013 14:22

I'll take my wonderbra with me tomorrow but I don't think it's going to be low enough. Tit tape could be the way to go!

Silverstar2 · 11/06/2013 16:16

Oh wow what a gorgeous dress! (sorry no help I know....)
