hello and welcome!

OP posts:

Sorrel It's gorgeous but don't you dare!

Wear your Juna to try it but you won't get your preferred lift without a band on the right level.

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 18:30

A low back converter might work

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2013 18:31

married What if attached some multiple rolls of tape to my boobs and took it right over my shoulders, like a sling Grin

Seriously though, perhaps I could put a clear back strap on an old Juna?

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2013 18:33

Ok, tit tape and a converter might do the trick (and adopting a sort of hunch front stooped walk to make the back cowl thing hang higher? How good would I look?)

marriednotdead · 12/06/2013 00:16

If you insist but you'll need 2 sizes smaller than they recommend. It won't work if the root of your boob goes skinnier when you 'dangle' as if doing the measuring thing though!

EMUZ · 12/06/2013 00:44

Do they still do that wonderbra with the diamanté back?

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 07:19

Sorry married. I'm being a bit stupid. What won't work? The wonderbra, converter or tape? Or all three Grin

ChunkyChicken · 12/06/2013 09:08

Feeling a bit sorry for myself nothing to do with AF, oh no as I have received the latest bravissimo offering & found my boobs slightly lacking in the cup department!! They're not too bad, which makes me think its the fact that DS is eating more food, cutting down on feeds & I'm FINALLY settling down size/swelling up & down-wise. DS is only 7mo...

I have 2 bras on order from Poland so I really hope they come before my holiday & fit, but won't get my hopes up so will wait until after my holiday & see what happens to my boobs after that before beginning the shopping all over again. I knew the bras I bought now wouldn't last forever, but I was hoping for 5-6mths as 1 size. Very much wishful thinking!!

My DM had a bra fitting at M&S or rather tried to. Thankfully they couldn't fit her in so she fitted herself. However, she got advice from staff. I'm pretty sure only some of the advice was good.

For example, she went in wearing a 36D & found new bras of that size too small. So they advised going up to a 38C. WRONG. I would have thought trying bigger cups first (she's a size 16-18 I think, but shops in 'older' shops...).

However, they advised her that the underwire needs to sit on her ribcage to contain the softer breast tissue & stop it escaping out of the side. So right.

They admitted they 'try' to get bras to fit on the middle hooks. WRONG.

She now has a 38E which fits flat to her chest etc. I'm concerned it will stretch too much/not support if the band is too big. But she seems happier & starting to realise that she might not be a B or C cup after all...

What is the best place to take DD (aged 13.5) for a bra fitting? She is currently in a 32D which she has recently complained is too small, which when she let me take a look I definitely agreed - she was falling out the top! Took her to Debenhams yesterday, nice bra fitting lady reckoned she should try a 32DD: fell out of that. Tried a 32E, she seemed to fall out of that too. Tried a 30F. That seemed to fit a little better but DD complained that it was agony on her shoulders By this stage we had been there 45 minutes, DD was hot and frazzled, and it was the end of the bra lady's shift and she had to go. So rather than keep trying bras on at random we decided to call it a day.

Now that I have discovered that my daughter is potentially so big (this is a whole new area for me, being only an A/B cup myself and it's freaking me out a bit!) I'm wondering whether we should try someone more specialist like Bravissimo, but does anywhere stock teenager-appropriate bras in large sizes? She doesn't want anything plunging, uplifting etc, just something relatively modest yet pretty.

Any suggestions for the best place to take her?

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/06/2013 11:20

I would go to bravissimo, they have a massive range and will definitely have something appropriate.

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 11:23

Yep, I second Bravissimo. They definitely stock some nice sensible bras!

grendel · 12/06/2013 11:43

Thanks for the recommendations. And I gather that their fitting seems to be quite accurate? The lady at Debenhams was very nice but her attitude to fitting seemed almost to be for DD to just keep on trying bras in increasing sizes until one fitted. Being a very self-conscious 13.5 year old, DD found this a bit stressful and I think started to feel like a bit of a freak as every new size brought in to her was still too small.

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 12:29

They are very good indeed. I'm just a keen amateur but have fitted my teenage niece and another couple of teenage relatives. I've learnt to start them in a bigger cup first and work backwards. I never show them the label either. Having said that my niece is delighted to be a 28FF!

HazleNutt · 12/06/2013 12:52

I've also discovered that it's always a good idea to start with bigger cups - it's quite obvious when the cup is too big, as it will be obviously gaping or wrinking.
It's not always so easy to spot if the cup is too small - if you have been wearing a B, a D will look like an improvement, so you might jsut squeeze yourself into it, even though you would really need an F. So start large and work your way down.

grendel · 12/06/2013 13:44

Oooh. Thanks. Good tip to start large and work down from there. Will remember this.

BlackAffronted · 12/06/2013 14:31

In total shock, I usually wear a 42G, meaured according to the blog and I am a 40k Shock eeeek!

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 14:53

BlackAffronte Amazing isn't it? Bear in mind too, that you may actually need a small band size than your measurements indicate. Many ladies with a bigger back measurement find that they feel more supported in a tighter band. You may want to try a 38 and even a 36 (remember to size up in the cup).

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 14:56

Dress update! They didn't have it in my local HoF (no surprise really bearing in mind the shocking state of affairs for shopping down here!) so I've ordered it from the website. The best bit? It's been reduced today to £130 Grin. I've also ordered this Biba one which would be better for the bra situation but probably not so flattering around the waist.

BlackAffronted · 12/06/2013 16:13

Thanks Sorrel. Looking online now for some pretty new bras :)

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 16:31

Excellent. Have a look on BraStop and Me and My Curves for bargain.

maxmissie · 12/06/2013 21:11

Hello, could i have some bra help too please! Have measured myself and come out as 36" underbust and 45" when dangling boobs, so does this work out as 36G or 36GG? My current bras (measured at M&S!) are 38E, which seem to be too big round the band as I can fit all my fingers under it but the cups seem quite big and loose around the top.

Am going shopping tomorrow so would love some tips of what to look for please? Thanks very much.

sparkle12mar08 · 12/06/2013 21:24

Yes, try 36G and GG, and you might like to try a 34GG and possibly H as well. The cups on your current bra might feel big because there is so much extra space from the band and they're falling forward because there's no support. You may or may not find GG and H cups on the high street in 34 and 36 bands, but if you don't then try brastop.co.uk, bravissimo, mycurvesandme, etc.

maxmissie · 12/06/2013 21:32

Great thank you so much. Will have a look in the shops tomorrow and if no luck will try online. Thanks again.

marriednotdead · 12/06/2013 23:15

Sorrel my 'wont work' post contained a clicky link Smile

SorrelForbes · 13/06/2013 08:54

Oh married they are very attractive! The reviews sound good. Go down two sizes? So a 30FF as opposed to a 30GG?

I've tried this sort of thing before and they were useless!
