Blimey Amber, I so couldn't do a white handbag :o

santamarianovella · 02/05/2013 11:08

why wont the outnet use a real model for the clothes?everything looks awful on the mannequin.

Hopefully · 02/05/2013 11:12

Liberty do it! Me&Ems are fab, my staple dresses.

Amber I was expecting that bag to be much trashier Grin

Loving the sunshine today, the boys and I have been in the garden all day so far (nanny has a sports injury so I have an unexpected day off. I am enjoying it now I have got over the rearranging-everything-stress).

Hopefully · 02/05/2013 11:14

santa it's really annoying. Suspect it makes a huge cost cut if they don't need to style them/pay models.

MacaYoniAndCheese · 02/05/2013 11:27

Wheeee...this thread moves quickly! Thanks for the welcome Smile. Yup, I'm in Canada. That means we don't have access to all your lovely UK shops but luckily I enjoy vicariously shopping as much as the real thing and there's always the possibility of having things shipped overseas...Thank-you, Online Shopping, don't mind if I do Wink.

Ooh...I love the NBs you posted Liberty. So many colour ways, so little time!

foxysocks · 02/05/2013 11:47

oooo MacaYoni you may have a job lot of madewell flats to ship over sometime soon! welcome Flowers

my wedding dress was £1500 but down from £3k as it was also a sample, so am counting that as a bargain Grin. it's still hanging in my wardrobe, i love it SO much will never get rid

anni that soft grey is beautiful. really useful colour. it's so soft and scrummy, hope you love too!

date with DH last night. indigo skinnies, long me&em black top, black ballet flats, cobalt scarf and first outing for the leopard coat . LOVE.

today am in yellow j crew tee, super pale james skinnies rolled up, cobalt scarf and grey biker although dropped the last two now it's so warm. about to head to garden avec coffee and kindle [sunshine]

AmberNectarine · 02/05/2013 11:54

I had the cheapest wedding ever. It is actually an incredible bargaining tool when buying outrageously expensive stuff 'yes, DH, it is a lot of money for a handbag, but think how much we saved on the wedding'. I think the value of that is running out now, as the average wedding is what £20k, and I have probably spent that on my wardrobe in the three years since we got hitched...

Have just bought sunglasses as well

shopafrolic · 02/05/2013 11:57

30 presents sounds brill Santa
I still have teeth! :)
Will keep quiet about my wedding dress cost, my knickers cost more than some of your dresses on the big day Blush

Right ladies. Madewell flats. I am considering buying two sizes as I am a UK 7.5. If I do - how many of you are genuinely interested, of similar footsize to me and might take them off my hands? If no-one is then I'll just get one pair.....

carrie74 · 02/05/2013 12:01

I had a sample wedding dress too (Amanda Wakeley, dontcha know Wink). So exactly who does buy full price?

Welcome Maca Smile

Am wearing my loud green trousers today, but pared down with a white silk shirt, pale grey DKNY cozy, and new black ballets. Loving the trews, and walking back from school run with 2 friends (one of which wearing a green sweatshirt about to go on dog walk), other friend commented on us both wearing green today. Dogwalker said, yes but Carrie looks beautiful, I look like I'm going for a dog walk! She was just being polite, but I'm still taking the compliment Grin.

Hopefully, that is far less Eurotrash than I was thinking (was expecting something much more blingtasticGrin).

carrie74 · 02/05/2013 12:01

Sorry, Amber, not Hopefully

shopafrolic · 02/05/2013 12:11

See what you've done to everyone Amber? They're becoming immune. Grin

McNally · 02/05/2013 12:15

Love those trousers Carrie. Really liking the patterned trousers around at the moment. Nice compliment too.

My feet are too small shop otherwise I'd have been very interested in any reject flats. When your DH sets up his Madewell import business, let me know Grin .

AmberNectarine · 02/05/2013 12:22

I'll have to up my game and find something really lurid. In another shocker, I have just ordered something from Boden.

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2013 12:23

Ah really tough not having an iphone can't keep up with vogue!

My parents rather traditionally did our wedding, so I know not of costs. But I vastly underestimated how hard it would be to get a dress and ended up barely with a one hour appointment at Browns Bride. Only place we could get in at such short notice and bought something already made.

Probably created to be a simple bridesmaid's dress rather than the bride's, butt it was just a garden wedding so it worked. Also nice ivory Louboutin (grass stained) and antique clasp, which I have lost. Nooo

AmberNectarine · 02/05/2013 12:23

Pretty sure Marsha is a 7, shop, and hopefully is an 8.

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2013 12:24

Haha yes Madewell 7s always good.

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2013 12:25

Ok just read your post Shop. Yes am a 7. Are you getting the leopard ones?

AmberNectarine · 02/05/2013 12:27

Thinking about it, my shoes were from River Island (bought for my by my ex - classy), my shrug was vintage and cost £30 and my clutch was a fiver from accessorize, and I had sparky hair clips from Claire's in, and a big lilac flower from somewhere unbelievably naff like Internacionale. My wedding outfit may have been one of my cheapest ever!

AmberNectarine · 02/05/2013 12:37

Just had email from InStyle with the spring boot edit. Guess which sexy little white bad boys are from and centre. I hate to say I told you so, but...

BrandyAlexander · 02/05/2013 12:42

Oooh Amber! Grin

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2013 12:45

Good one Amber! you're our trend canary. If it doesn't go through you first, it doesn't happen. Grin

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2013 12:49

Liberty I'm the same with the dresses, but I find it SO hard to do anything with them afterwards. I love creating an outfit for the one night, it always feels better when it's new.

shopafrolic · 02/05/2013 13:01

Yup Marsha the leopard ones - am going to order the leopard ones in a 10 and an 11 I think. Basically I want a UK7 and an 8 to try.....
www.madewell.com/madewell_category/SHOESANDSANDALS/skimmers/PRDOVR~67822/67822.jsp do you think that would work?

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 02/05/2013 13:08

amber that's so not trash. I'd call that bag a classic. You deffo need to up your game Grin

liberty I can be the same. It's happily spend 100 quid or more on a dress for an occasion but I don't do the same for day to day. I think once the kids are all at school I will spend more but somehow spending a lot for something to sit on the floor at toddler groups and get covered in food seems wrong somehow. I'd hate to be worried all the time if something was getting ruined.

Just bought some carmex. How did I not know of ths product before. I love it.

My wedding dress was £1500 which for 9 years ago was a lot. And I totally trashed it by dancing too wildly but it was still totally worth it.

So tell me more about these me&em dresses. I've got a christening to go to in July and as dh has designated me as the driver, he is allowing me a new dress! I just want something smart casual as the day will be spent in the garden running after the kids. Does the material of them cling or skim? Although I'm slim, I have a tum and bum so can't have anything too clingy.

Finally anyone got a next linen tee? I ordered one yesterday whilst ordering dc stuff but then read bad reviews on another thread. I really like it though and can fit in a size 6 Grin
