Calling all HOC winters.....

QueenCadbury · 21/04/2013 09:21

So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

QUeen - any good?

QueenCadbury · 05/08/2013 22:27

mad I've ummed and aaghed about that landsend cardi for ages. It's gone in and out of my basket so many times. I probably should just order it!

Itsnotunusal I love the next cardi too! Has been purchased, will let you know.

I've been sent this link to the new Issa collection at banana republic today. A one day only preview

issa

Don't know if anyone else can use it but worth a go I thought. I'm not as sure as I was when I saw Grazia tho now.

QueenCadbury · 07/08/2013 07:46

neena I was about to post the Issa link too. Not that impressed tbh.

OP posts:
MadAboutHotChoc · 07/08/2013 07:54

Lots of summer dresses/patterns and short sleeves in the link when we all are already thinking of A/W....

I don't want to look like Kate M (too frumpy for me sorry) so not too keen on the lookalike engagement dress.

I am hunting for a burgundy cardigan as the red one I tried on in M&S looked too much on me - has anyone seen one anywhere....?

Went out for dinner last night and wore a dark navy blouse with dark navy jeans, snakeskin scandals and belt - got loads of compliments Smile

Neena28 · 07/08/2013 08:14

Totally agree with you both. I liked some of what Id seen previewed, maybe cos the styling made it look edgier. But nope it's an engagement dress knock off and they're all a little short for me for work and not what I'd wear for a night out either. Disappointing. Also don't think they're my style now I'm settling into the idea of it a bit more. Although I haven't bought anything except the cardi recently it's interesting that I am already becoming so much considered in my purchasing.

Neena28 · 07/08/2013 08:15

Madabout....your outfit sounds fab. Navy and snakeskin looks so chic and trendy in a kind of effortless way. Am jealous!!

MadAboutHotChoc · 07/08/2013 08:20

Thanks - its the first time I've combined these two. Like you, I am thinking more about what I buy and wear Wink

QueenCadbury · 07/08/2013 09:00

Putting myself on a spending ban has been great as I browse online and whereas before I would have thought 'I need that' and just click buy, I'm now not allowed to and actually soon go off the item anyway! It's also made me try out new combinations in my existing wardrobe. Not sure I'll last out till October though Grin.

neena do let us know about the next cardi as I'm allowed to buy a green one as it's been on the wish lit for so long!

mad haven't seen any burgundy ones this year but I got one last year in mango.

Just dropping by to point out this cable jumper - true bright red and 100% cotton, and not v expensive at all :) I like...

Keztrel · 07/08/2013 14:22

And I do really like that green Next cardi, even though I'm not a cardi person normally.

BeingMoreDog · 07/08/2013 14:30

Hi, hope you don't mind me interrupting. I'm a summer, so cool-toned like you. I've fallen for this coat but think it's perhaps too vibrant. Do you think it's a winter colour? Kind of hope it is as it's on the £££ side!

Keztrel · 07/08/2013 14:50

Being it looks like it would work on winters and summers to me, especially as the description says it's deep pink (looks more burgundy in the photo on my screen.) It's very lovely. Summer colours here have all variations of deep pinks and soft reds!

MadAboutHotChoc · 07/08/2013 14:57

Hard to tell as its not RL, but that pink looks like rose madder, a beautiful summer pink. Its not a winter colour though as its too muted. Hope this helps.

BeingMoreDog · 07/08/2013 15:01

I think I love you both Grin. And rose madder is one of my bests (although it's quite tricky to see the exact colour on screen).

MadAboutHotChoc · 07/08/2013 15:02

Grin let's hope I've got it right then.

Keztrel · 07/08/2013 15:05

Hmm, it seems I'm not very good at telling when something is too muted for a winter Mad. Would that coat not count as raspberry coloured?

I sometimes wonder if I see colours slightly differently - my dad and I can both never tell when something is blue or green if it's in between, when others seem convinced it's one or the other Hmm

MadAboutHotChoc · 07/08/2013 16:27

I might be wrong though and its not muted after all.

When trying to decide if a colour is bold and clear,I compare it with another colour on another end of the colour wheel e.g turquoise and see how it looks.

QueenCadbury · 07/08/2013 20:53

We've probably all had the lipstick discussion before but I bought revlon lip butter raspberry pie and it's lovely.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 08/08/2013 00:17

The Next cardigan is lovely. Diamanté as well so double score for a romantic classic sultry winter Grin

It feels lovely. Haven't checked what fabric it is but with small sticky sons I'm better off staying away from investment type buys for a bit anyway.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 08/08/2013 00:19

I've got the lip butter in red velvet (eBay purchase) and I love it.

NewNameForNewTerm · 09/08/2013 12:57

Boots have got Revlon Lip Butters at 2 for £10. What colours do you Winter Ladies recommend?

QueenCadbury · 09/08/2013 13:13

Thanks newname. I paid full price for raspberry pie the other day. I've just ordered red velvet and berry smoothie.

Boden winter stuff is on preview-20% off.
There are some nice berry and emerald coloured tops plus an Aztec blue in some coats and knits which looks like Chinese blue, which is one of my best colours.

Have any Winters had their style done too?
I'm very tempted after a friend went and has come back as a gamine- + something I can't remember. She's a winter too. I can really see her as gamine as she is small and slim and a bit of an Audrey Hepburn look-alike. I'm very different so doubt I'd be the same.

I wonder if there are particular style groups winters are more likely to fall into?
