So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

Queen I have that jumper in the powerful blue, it's amazing in that colour and I always get comments when I wear it. Would never have picked it up before!

The HoF "lobelia" top arrived - fast shipping but not I'm entirely convinced by the colour. It is so bright and miles away from what I would normally wear, and I'm not sure it really looks that great on me. It is quite hard to see where it fits with my swatches. Think I need to try it on with a few other things, see how it works. Hm.

The lobelia top looks very close to the royal purple swatch to me Face - don't have my swatch book to hand though. Maybe it's a bit too bright for your sultry side? I do find some versions of electric blue and purple/lobelia type shades are too bright for me and make me look sallow. It's weird, because the same colour just a hint less bright can look amazing!

I've just seen this midnight blue faux fur snood. I kind of love it, the colour's amazing, not sure how nice it will be in the flesh!

Is this furry snood nice to touch? I've been patting some fur coats in town today but they all felt a bit electric.

I agree that some of the purples around ATM can look a bit harsh. I think it's one that needs trying on.

My Mum today, out of the blue, told me that a green coat I wear makes my skin look yellow and tired. She's right. I still haven't got round to getting rid of the coat as I haven't found another one yet in the right colours.

I haven't felt it yet LC, only seen it online. I've ordered it but yes, it might be a bit squeaky and electric feeling like lost of cheap fake fur. Worth a shot though as I can return it in store v easily (it's dangerous working in a big city centre - way too easy to shop.)

EB - worth trying :) I haven't done much shopping lately as I work in a village & live in a village (only charity shops and gift shops). Nearest shopping centres are only 2-3 miles away and bigger ones 5 miles away but I haven't got the energy or time for it.

With strong purples - wearing it with another colour e.g navy/charcoal helps calm it down. I have a similar problem with the bright pinks/reds - a little looks great but a top tends to be too much.

Ok, so the lovely cobalt top from M&S arrived - beautiful colour, really saw the difference, but neckline too high for me so sent it back. I would like to order another top in that colour.

The HOF lobelia top is growing on me. Maybe for a slightly dressier occasion. Still a bit unsure but keeping for now. It looks better if I make sure I have lipstick on.

Three cheap scarves from Kuldip arrived - sadly smell badly of smoke but am washing them. The "deep blue" is quite like the Chinese blue and looks okay, and I somehow ordered two royal blues which are a bit different - one is very deep and bright and looks great. The other is a bit more muted and less good. My consultant kept going on about the "twinkly eye effect" and I really see it!

Also, two Uniqlo Heattech tops arrived - Scoop neck in Navy and Crew Neck in Blue - a lovely deep bright dark blue, which is great. Such nice fabric and I am warmer already. Grin

I bought the Clinique chubby sticks gift set
They are quite sheer, however the red is a bit too orange and warm, but the pink and berry are great colours for winters.

This might be my holy grail electric blue jumper (been trying loads, none of the Gap ones are quite right). I love the shape of it and the zip back. £120 Angry

I really liked the pink chubby stick I had Kosher (can't remember which it was). I went through it far too fast to justify the price though.

I wore the lobelia top out last night to a gig. It was pretty dark and cold so no on really saw it under my coat, but I was glad I wore it. It did look good, just a bit much for day-to-day wear.

What gig did you go to?

Report
QueenCadbury · 16/11/2013 07:46

eliz that is a gorgeous jumper.

face glad you kept the top and wore it.

I went to a local trade fair at the church the other day and found the perfect emerald scarf. I didn't really need it as I have a cobalt and pine green scarf but I couldn't ignore the perfect shade. Does anyone else do that-not plan on buying anything but then find the perfect colour...

I've also booked my style day for December.

I totally forgot that I ordered this cardigan the other day. Being country casuals I was a bit Hmm about it but had to give it a go because if the colour. It's arrived and is the most perfect shade of dark emerald and I actually love the detailing but it's huge (it's the smallest size they do). I need to have a play with it as it may be ok done up.

queen Cadbury - I find that I am looking on a far wider range of websites because I know what I am looking for now. I also worry less Blush about cost in an upward and downward direction when something is right. But it's so much harder to actually find the right thing.
ElizabethBarthory - that fur snood is tempting me!

I'll PM you about the gig! It was great. Grin

Now, my consultant has just offered me a bargain style day as someone dropped out and she wants to fill the spot. I think I'm going to do it. Any thoughts?

Report
KosherBacon · 17/11/2013 20:17

Do it, FaceDirection! I really want to do mine. I have started on WW and might do it as a present to myself for losing weight (if I ever get there). How much is she offering it for.

ItsNotUnusual- I agree. I am also able to scan through shops much easier, as I can ignore whole swathes of beige and pastels etc.

Queen Cadbury- that sweater is lovely. I would never think of looking at CC.

I am also wondering whether to wait until I have lost some more weight. I'm about a stone and a half over weight, and it is slowly slowly coming off but it will be a while until I'm down a stone. I'm not entirely sure how much I would change shape really, either, iyswim? I'd still be basically the same shape but smaller, I think.

She is offering it for £90... Seems like a total bargain to me, esp as the price will go up in January to £150.

AAAND I love that cardigan. Grin

£90 is a good price. I wonder if its worth speaking to her about how much your personal style changes as your weight changes.

Report
QueenCadbury · 17/11/2013 21:03

face you should do it. As well as shape I think they look at you and what you like/dislike to work out what you are.

I love the emarald cardigan too but it's just too big so will have to go back Sad

The style day sounds good. I won't be doing mine soon as I'm a bit broke and still trying to lose some weight.

I had my style day last week and I'm a natural romantic. I also have about 2 stone to lose and joined ww 4 weeks ago. I have to say a lot of things made sense (why i could never find trousers that i liked and could fit me) and now clothing and colour decisions are so much easier.

Report
FaceDirectionOfTravel · 17/11/2013 22:29

Okay, I've mailed her to ask. Grin I'm excited.

She was saying a few 'style' things in the colour day that made so much sense - if you have big boobs, don't wear short sleeves that cut off at the bust line as it draws the eye. I had already clocked this for myself - I knew those length sleeve looked rubbish on me - but it was so great knowing WHY!

I am scared she is going to make me wear belts though.

Just a quick report of a lovely bright purple long sleeved, boat neck T shirt I found in Sainsbury yesterday for £6 if anyone wants a cheapie winter top.

Am intrigued by the style analysis, would love to know more about the style categories (I can't get the link from another thread to work).

Would also welcome any recommendations for Style Consultants in north west.
